The woofer will add depth and impact to your favorite tunes.
Are your car's factory speakers sounding less than fresh? Pioneer built their A-Series speakers to be high-performance replacements for your old speakers, designed from the ground up to bring back the life that your music's been missing. You'll be able to enjoy the clear vocals, chunky guitar riffs, powerful drums, and distinct bass lines that have always been a part of your favorite tunes, but have remained hidden behind sub-par speakers.
Pioneer equipped the TS-A1605C component speaker system with multilayer 6-3/4" mica-matrix woofers that stay rigid when the volume's turned up, keeping distortion to a minimum so your bass sounds clean. Install the separate 3/4" tweeters in a good spot up high in your vehicle for better stereo imaging. The system also includes 2-way outboard crossovers, a step up from the inline tweeter high-pass filters usually found in systems in this price range.
These speakers will sound great running off your factory stereo, but they'll really shine when driven by an aftermarket receiver or an external amp. Don't drive another day listening to tired-sounding tunes, when you can enjoy Pioneer sound quality with these speakers in your vehicle.
Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.
Great sound. Good highs and Lows
Super sound, Tennessee
Great sound. Good highs and Lows
These are great components for this price point. Installed in the front doors & dash of my Chevy Trailblazer w/ Bose system & they sound much better than the Sony XS-GS1720S I had previously. These Pioneer's have a great SPL & a great frequency range especially on the low end which was my main reason for purchasing. I find it hard-pressed to find the same specs for any other competing component system at any price point.
Pros: Great SPL; great frequency range; nice sound
I installed these in my CR-V with the help of a local stereo shop because the kit that came with the speakers wasn't sized appropriately to mount them. They helped me cut out the factory speakers from the mounts and use those instead, then screw the speakers directly into the door panel. Other than that, the speakers themselves are okay, but kinda lose their quality when I start getting into the "I want to play loud music in the parking lot of a concert venue before the show" levels. But, for road-legal usage, these puppies are pretty solid. I think they were the right buy for my budget but if I had more money to spend, I would have picked up something on the higher end that might not have had the max volume capped by the speakers.
Pros: Audio sounds great...to a point (see review/below)
Cons: Can't handle past ~34/40 volume on the Pioneer HU; sound gets distorted Installation ended up needing a local shop; Crutchfield tech support was helpful but I wasn't comfortable drilling into the door on my first solo speaker/HU job
I installed these in my Jeep Wrangler (aftermarket amp w/base factory system, upgraded to NAV head unit, no subwoof). Great sound with surprisingly good bass at decent volume - mids and highs come through crisp and loud - now I'm satisfied w/the bass and won't need to cram a subwoofer into my 2 door. Tweeters fit perfectly in factory location with only a strip of foam tape around the housing to hold them in snugly. Be sure to squeeze spade terminals for a tight fit.
Pros: Easy install, good bass, clear highs
Cons: crossover wiring could be a heavier gauge.
The tweeters supplied when wired to the original line are way over powered for the 2000 jeep grand Cherokee with the infinity system. Like wayyyyyy to much power.
Pros: The subs sound great
Cons: The tweeters were over powered, and they didn't fit in the stock spots on the dash, they are 2.75 inch tweetersCrutchfield response on January 13, 2015 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Great sound quality crisp highs not very low lows but far better than stock. The cone and surround on the mid leaves a bit to be desired material wise but they do the job.
Pros: Component set
Cons: Minimal mounting options.
Great value from Pioneer. These speakers sound great and are easy to install.
Pros: Matched woofer, tweeter, and crossover in one package, great sound, great value
Cons: Measurements of individual components didn't match specifications listed on packaging. Measure before cutting!
These speaker a are big improvement over the stock speakers. I would recomend this purchase.
The first thing I must comment on is Crutchfield tech support...U guys are the best!! Bought the speakers the tech Troy recommended. Everything came out great and we have ZERO experience installing speakers. put these in a 2000 Nissan
Pros: Great Tech support Sounds great easy to install
Speakers sound great vary easy to install
Pros: Great speakers
I replaced all of my 08 jetta gli factory paper cone speakers and tweeters with this set. The speakers mount up great and produce an impressive amount of sound. The music is crystal clear and far more realistic than what my factory speakers made. I expected the cones would produce a nice bit of bass punch, but they instead simply create clear bass notes. Still a great system!
Pros: Affordable, clear, and powerful
Cons: Not much bass
These are on the low end price wise for components. However I am very impressed with the sound. I have them amplified with 40 watts RMS Fosgate amp. The tweeters give far more presence than the old in dash tweeters. I have them mounted on the front door's A pillars. The bass is good enough to feel the door vibrate. And that is with sound dampening used on the metal surfaces in the door.
Pros: For inexpensive component speakers these sound great.
Cons: The mid bass can be boomy when loud on some songs. I cannot take off a star for that because I haven't heard any other component speakers in the car. These sound far better than the 3 way full range speakers I had in before. I plan to get a new head unit with a built in parametric equalizer to adjust the boominess out. My current Pioneer unit only has low mid and high adjustments.
Very detailed mids and highs. The lows are a little lacking so if you plan on not having subs, you will definitely need to adjust the loudness and EQ on your HU. I tested these for a little while with my subs turned off and found that you can get a pretty decent sound with some tweaking. Obviously all car doors will have different resonance characteristics and all head units will sound a little different so you should probably take just about every review on this site with a grain of salt. HU used: Pioneer DEH-X8500BS Car: 2010 Impreza
Pros: Crisp highs and mids. Reasonable sized crossovers that I was able to hide inside the door itself. Both surface and angled mounts for the tweeters. The box is perforated to produce cardboard rings that are the same mounting size as your speakers and tweeters so you can do a little pre-planning.
Cons: Thin bass.
I really love the quality of these speakers. I bought this with a pioneer head unit and was even able to get a discount on these speakers. The only negative that I have is that the tweeters are very small and even with the mounting gear, they would not fit in my tweeter holes.
Loud, easy to install , sleek looking, powerful.
Pros: Loud, easy to install ,
Good speakers for the price. Built nice, not cheap at all. Sounds good in my truck, clean highs and good mids with decent lows. Hard to tell exactly how good the lows are since my Chevy silverado has the Bose system with the sub. And yes, Contrary to what you might find people saying on the forums, you can easily replace your stock speakers that came with your Bose system and they will sound great and work fine. I have no issues at all. Don't bring your system down by keeping those stock junk speakers. Bose or not, they still are made with cheap materials. These pioneer speakers work great, and are a big improvement to my system.
Pros: Good sound and good materials, not cheap materials
The speakers are amazing. I have them in my 96 Chevy Astro van. With pioneer TS-A1685R an Pioneer TS-G1004R for my pillar speakers. An yes Crutchfield helped me with all the information. They sound amazing the tweets give it all it needs. Its all hooked up to a 4 channel amp. They sound nice, hit nice, quality is beautiful. Best speakers I have heard.
Pros: Looks amazing, quality great, bass amazing, an sounds clear!
The speakers sound great my only problem is the box given to hook the speakers and tweeters up is impossible to reach where both are located in the vehicle.
I installed these in my 2003 Chevy Cavalier a few months ago, the sound very clear, but even with my 22 watt RMS Kenwood radio they still had very little bass coming out. The only bass that I was really getting was from the 6x9 3 way Kickers that I had in the rear deck.
Pros: Very clear, durable feel
Cons: No Bass
The speakers sound great and were reasonably easy to install. Most complicated part was removing and replacing the old tweeters with the new ones. This required some careful prying and filing of the old mounts plus a dab of superglue.
Pros: One installed in the bracket, slipped right into the original mounting location with no problems.
Cons: None that I'm aware of.
After a speaker stopped working on our 2003 Silverado; it was handy to replace the front door speakers with these Pioneer component set. With a little dremel action on the tweeter mount they we right at home. This speaker set has a great sound to them, unfortunately they lack a little in the bass department. This is not an issue if you are running a sub, but by their selves they drop off pretty quick on lows. Seem to be well constructed even though they are manufactured in China; overall happy with the purchase.
Pros: Better midrange and highs than the factory speakers. Decently priced for an entry level component set.
Cons: The bass response from these are a little weak; the factory 2003 Silverado door speakers had better bass response.
Pros: All good
Cons: All good
Typically Pi.oneer quality, no complaints
Terrific speakers. I upgraded a factory system (Honda) and noticed an immediate improvement. I didn't have high expectations, as I wasn't changing the head unit or adding amplification right away. However, with stock equipment, these speakers were noticeably better, even providing clearer Bass in harmony with the factory subwoofer. Now I just need to decide if I'm going to go through the trouble of amplification to get more, or just enjoy what I have. Only thought is that the tweeters sound a little harsh, but I would imagine that this could be EQ'd to compensate, should I change the head unit for a more powerful system that would allow me to tune for my vehicle.
Excellent mids and highs, but the bass is really lacking.
Picked these up to replace the stock full range speakers in the front door of my 2012 Ford Focus and I'm happy to say I am very pleased. Still using the factory system but am powering them with a 60x2 RMS amp and the sound quality has increased ten fold. The highs are crisp and clean, the imaging has improved dramatically, the mid-range is no longer garbled & muddy. Even the low end has improved. I've heard details never heard before, even from my home Onkyo/Polk Audio 7.2 A/V system, in the Rock, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal that I listen to. The higher the volume the brighter they sound. With that said, I would definitely recommend a sub to accompany them and fill in the what's missing on the bottom end, especially as the volume increases and the highs really come alive as the lows slowly drop off, as you would expect from a 6 1/2" woofer. Thinking of picking up a second pair for my rear doors, just have to figure out where to mount the tweeters, and will definitely be adding a sub to complete the transformation from a bland 4 speaker factory stereo to a respectful audio system. Also, must give props to the Crutchfield advisers in helping me pick a pair in my price range guaranteed to fit my factory locations.
Pros: Dramatically improved mids, highs and imaging, bargain price.
Cons: Wish the 34-32,000Hz frequency range output just a touch more on the low end but again, not really a con when considering the speaker size.and the open air factory "inclosure".
good quality speakers, better sound.

The foam would be beneficial, at least it has been for me. I have an Acura with low suspension so the foam absorbs the shock from bumps so the speaker takes less of a hit, which will make it last longer. The foam is also porous so the sound will travel through it better. It sounds a lot better than my car did stock, it didn't have foam it had plastic. Hope this helps. [ CHELSEY K Jan 22, 2014 ]
I'll probably do the same. Was just curious if there was any perks worth looking into. Thanks! [ Jeramie Jan 21, 2014 ]
I ended up not using the baffles but am very satisfied with the sound without. The baffles appeared very difficult to mount and I had lined the doors with sound deadening anyway. In the future that would be my first choice. [ M L L Jan 21, 2014 ]
