About the Pioneer TS-A1605C

John Pollard

Get more out of your music

Are your car's factory speakers sounding less than fresh? Pioneer built their A-Series speakers to be high-performance replacements for your old speakers, designed from the ground up to bring back the life that your music's been missing. You'll be able to enjoy the clear vocals, chunky guitar riffs, powerful drums, and distinct bass lines that have always been a part of your favorite tunes, but have remained hidden behind sub-par speakers.

Built to make your music rock

Pioneer equipped the TS-A1605C component speaker system with multilayer 6-3/4" mica-matrix woofers that stay rigid when the volume's turned up, keeping distortion to a minimum so your bass sounds clean. Install the separate 3/4" tweeters in a good spot up high in your vehicle for better stereo imaging. The system also includes 2-way outboard crossovers, a step up from the inline tweeter high-pass filters usually found in systems in this price range.

These speakers will sound great running off your factory stereo, but they'll really shine when driven by an aftermarket receiver or an external amp. Don't drive another day listening to tired-sounding tunes, when you can enjoy Pioneer sound quality with these speakers in your vehicle.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Q
Would mounting these speakers with a foam enclosure/baffle be beneficial or not? Reduce longevity of the speaker? Had an issue mounting a set of polk 6 3/4" mids before. Ended up not using the baffles. Now, I would mount the baffle between the door and the spacer speaker mount (needed in the 07 VW Jetta for proper fit).To me,that would seem more effective as far as clearance and still protect the speaker. Regarding the volume created, would it be better sealed or modified to still allow the speaker free air movement as if it wasn't there? Thanks!

The foam would be beneficial, at least it has been for me. I have an Acura with low suspension so the foam absorbs the shock from bumps so the speaker takes less of a hit, which will make it last longer. The foam is also porous so the sound will travel through it better. It sounds a lot better than my car did stock, it didn't have foam it had plastic. Hope this helps.

I'll probably do the same. Was just curious if there was any perks worth looking into. Thanks!

I ended up not using the baffles but am very satisfied with the sound without. The baffles appeared very difficult to mount and I had lined the doors with sound deadening anyway. In the future that would be my first choice.
