major upgrade

Written By Danny, P.C. Florida on Thursday, December 06, 2007

These speakers are amazing! I started my system off with two kenwood tens and had to find something to match the lows. my stock door speakers just couldn't handle it and blew after a few weeks. I had the lows already so i needed the highs to make a well rounded sound. These speakers did the trick. I owned a 99 Tacoma and put these in all 4 corners. It sounded amazing. I liked them so much that after i sold the truck i bought another pair to put in the back of my tundra. Great speaker, great buy. Hands down.

Not very happy

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these after reading the reviews here. Installation was a breeze, they fit right in to my '97 Dodge Dakota with no modifications.

I wanted more than 2 way speakers and these do deliver on the high end -- not shril, very pleasing to the ear. That said... the midrange and low end are far worse than the 10 year old factory paper speakers that these replaced. Really, almost inexcusably worse. The mid/lows are very thin -- my wife describes them as "hollow" sounding. These are driven by a Pioneer DEH-P77DH head unit.

They are installed in the front door panels of the vehicle, with 6 3/4" factory speakers still in the rear. I can do an A-B comparison using the fader in the HU to switch all the sound between the front and rear. I was going to replace the factory rears with these (so all four would be identical), but now I'm considering keeping the factory in the back so I have at least some low end.

I give these two stars -- one for the installation and one for the high end, but I can't say that I'd ever recommend these to anyone.

Pioneer Shines

i decided to go with these speakers after using pioneer 6x8's in all 4 corners of a sable i used to own. i was impressed by SQ and Durability of pioneer because i play my music loud all the time even the 1 minute drive to the corner store.

i picked these up for my chev venture all 4 corners because these are the largest that fit before needing custom work. i was unsure about a 6 3/4 speaker but they bump. true they dont bump like a 6x9 but they do sound awesome. using my jvc arsenal 5000 headunits power they dont distort until high volume but i was told thats because i needed to amp them. so my next soon project is my intrepid which i'll be using 6x9 pioneers in the rear and these same speakers in the front powered by a profile ap740 in the next week. i cant wait. i rated the a 4 of 5 because i heard a few pair of speakers 1 being clif designs of simular quality that were 2 way and sounded just as good if not better. overall i would recommend this speaker to anyone. and crutchfield is the best.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put 2 pairs of these speakers in my Durango along with a Panasonic MXE CQ-C9801U head unit. These speakers sound great with this HU. Insatallation was a breeze. These literally went in place of the factory speakers. As always the factory wiring adapters made it plug and play. I would buy these again.

Great Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed very easily. Two clips and it was in my front doors without any problems. Once hooked up to my receiver they sounded (and still sound) great. The bass is very accurate and the highs are precise.

I would definitely consider buying these again, this time for my back deck to replace those factory speakers. They are resonably priced too for what they are pushing out. 250W Max and 50W RMS is nothing to sneeze at, not to mention they are 4 ways which other speakers don't usually have.

As always Crutchfield came through with delivery and instructions. Thanks!

Good speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had recently purchased 4-way 6x9s and loved the sound, so I picked these up. Obviosuly the bass isn't as good as a 6x9, but they are gerat speakers. They have a great sound range and put out great power on their own...

Great speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers for my 2002 chevy avalanche. I installed them both in the front and rear. I installed them my self and I had no problems except for the rear; i had to use the mounting braket that came with the speakers to get the clearence for my window to move down. As for the speakers they sound incredible.I was worried about the bass responce but once i heard them it was more than what i expected to the point that i have decided I donot need a subwoofer. Remeber if you want hard hitting bass to wake up the neighbors get a subwoofer. The vocals and highs are just has inpressive. I have this hooked up tp my Panasonic CQ-C8803U head unit. These speakers are great full sound speakers from the lows to the highs they can handle the music. and like alway customer services gets an A+,

Very pleased with sound quality

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the these for the rear door panels and another set of same 4-ways but different model # for the front door panels of my 2005 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab. The installation instructions are so simple to follow with great illistrations too.
I almost bought the 3-ways speakers until I heard the 4-ways and let's just say I was sold on the 4-way. Money well spent in my opinion.
The speakers sound incredble. The detail of sound is crisp and the bass is very good and I've played everything from Blues music to AC/DC through those speakers. I am running those speakers off of my factory head unit that came in the truck for now.
Though the bass is very good, if you are looking for thumping/vibrating bass then you should look at a sub-woofer or something.

Pioneer TS-A1781R

Written By secrebel, Waco, TX on Thursday, August 10, 2006

These sound really nice, a bit more bass than most 6 1/2. The tweeter and super tweeter cover the highs nicely, not too piercing. Everything sounds pretty good with these. Granted, I had factory paper 15 Watt pieces of crap in there originally. The 91dB sensitivity I think is what makes these really work.

I installed two of these speakers recently when I bought a Kenwood double-din head unit. They fit perfectly in my 2000 4Runner. I had to solder them in, but no biggy. I don't remember what the impedance of these were, but I didn't care because I didn't know what impedance my receiver was anyhow. (Max power transfer, anyone here an electrical engineer? For max power - impedance of speakers should equal impedance of head unit). Anyways, they sound great!

Woofers: Each speaker features an interlaced Aramid fiber-reinforced IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) cone woofer. With long Aramid fibers interlacing together inside, this IMPP cone design provides the strength and rigidity powerful bass notes require. The high-density compressed internal architecture is resilient and stands up to high power, transferring sound very quickly. The result is full-bodied, rich sound.

Midranges: Each speaker uses a 1-5/8" polyester balanced dome midrange with magnetic fluid and a neodymium magnet.

Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 5/8" polyester dome tweeter and a 3/8" polyester soft dome super-tweeter for crisp, clear highs.

Surrounds: For durability and a smoother response, each speaker uses a butyl rubber surround.

Mounting: The speakers can be mounted in a standard 6-3/4" opening or, using the supplied adapters, in an oversized GM/Chrysler 6-3/4" opening.
