Pioneer's goal is to build speakers that accurately cover the whole frequency spectrum — highs, mids, and lows. The TS-A4670R 3-way 4"x6" speakers start with 3/8" PET silver film dome tweeters and 1" pearl polycarbon midranges, for stellar coverage of the highs and mids.

The Aramid fiber-reinforced IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) woofers deliver eye-opening bass response for speakers of this size. These versatile 4"x6" speakers are equally at home in standard or metric openings. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Pioneer TS-A4670R

Written By Cowboy Up, Langdon, ND on Thursday, July 13, 2006

These speakers are better than to stock speakers by a long shot. I HAD them in my 94 chevrolet silverado, but i replaced them with sony xplod 4x6's. I had the pioneers in the fron of my pickup, and kickers in the back, the pioneers lasted longer than the kickers, but the kickers sounded better, but i replaced them all for no reason i guess. GM should consider making bigger speaker openings.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Install was easy, thanks to supplied wire harness. Thanks Crutchfield!!
Sound is ok, get more volume out of them than expected. Not as good as the Sony 4-ways I installed (Thanks Crutchfield!!) but WAY better than stock.

Great speakers for there size

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in my wifes 2001 Chevy Malibu LS, The Instructions were very easy to use. Ones Crutchfield sent with the order. The speaker connectors made it easy to hook up also. I do recommend the tool to pop off the trim work. My wife noticed the diffrence Immediatley when I installed them. They respond great to the Stock stereo. I will soon order the backs to go along with these. The stock ones had a bad vibration in them and sounded terrible. Not these, a great Improvement. I recommend them for this type car. Also thanks to Crutchfeilds advisor (Clay) he helped me pick these for her car. Can't beat the speedy shipping either... Thanks Crutchfeild

Great Buy - Excellent Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for the front doors of my 2001 Cavalier sedan, in addition to purchasing Pioneer TS-A1681R
6-1/2"/6-3/4" 4-ways for the rear deck. I installed these after the rear deck speakers and find them to be a perfect complement to the 4 ways.

When isolating the front speakers only, they produce clear highs, mids and lows. Surprisingly enough, they produce enough bass that in bass heavy songs, I feel the vibration of the bass on my legs. True, it's not enough to rattle your brain cells, but it is a surprising amount of bass from such a small speaker.

In tandem with the rear speakers, they were over powered with the balance centered front to rear. Move the balance one notch toward the front, however and the music is centered to the driver perfectly. With this tiny adjustment, they are no longer over powered and you can enjoy all the nuances of the music you've never heard with the factory speakers.

I'm planning on putting an amp and 12" subs in the trunk, which is why I went against the recommendation of crutchfield and got the 4 ways for the rear. I detailed this decision in my review for the 4 way speakers listed above.

These are quality speakers and well worth the money for the front doors of a vehicle. I wouldn't recommend them for the rear deck unless that is the biggest speaker you can fit there.

Great Highs and Mids not the best bass

Written By Larry, south lake tahoe Ca on Monday, December 12, 2005

Great speaker for the highs and mids but the bass gets very distorted at high volumes so make sure you use bass blockers and let the sub do the lows. I put these in the dask of my 90 seirra. Easy install I think the price is a bit to high. But great speaker if you have bass blockers

Pretty good speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

BOTTOM LINE: These are pretty decent speakers and I'm happy with them, but don't expect bass thumping from them.

UPSIDE: I like rock and I like it loud and they manage everything I throw at them. Crutchfields free connectors and other adapters were dead on and the installation took about 10 minutes (really). I actually installed them one mornng before leaving for work. The speakers do a nice job with highs and mids and, so far, they handle what bass I've thrown at them. They were the only three-way speakers I found in the price range.

DOWNSIDE: Not really a complaint, but given what they are, I feel like they could've cost a little less. They will rattle a bit if you get too much bass toward them. I haven't needed bass blockers, though, as I use them for the front only and send the bass back.

Not bad for 4X6 speakers

Written By Jason, Columbus, OH on Saturday, October 29, 2005

I too installed them in an '01 silverado in the rear. Easy install. I kinda wish I had got a plate or component speaker instead. You can't expect too much from a little speaker like these though.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these in the rear doors of my '01 Chevy Silverado, and yes, they do fit. I just screwed them right to the door with sheet metal screws using the supplied spacer plate. They are the same dimensions as the factory speakers.

I'm impressed by thier performance. I experienced no distortion, tight bass, and clarity rivaled only by an amplified system....'nuff said.

Jeep Application

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought a matched set of Pioneer TS-A4670R 4X6 speakers along with a pair of TS-A1370R 5 1/4 3-way speakers to go along with a new Pioneer DEH-P47DH CD Receiver. I can't tell you how easy it was to install the receiver and the 5 1/4 inch speakers in to my 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Sounds great and it took about 2 hours to get the job done. One problem though, and that is with the 4X6 speakers for the front of the truck. Need an adaptor plate and the screws that came with the speakers don't fit and neither did the screws that came with the adaptor plate. So I'll have to get some at the hardware store or have Crutchfield send me replacements. Check with Crutchfield by voice before getting the these 4X6's for a Jeep Wrangler to make sure you have the right parts. Otherwise, the "plug and play" ability of all the components made this an easy install. Could always use more power so now we'll have to look at adding a subwoofer and go from there...

I have these speakers in the dash of my 2002 chevy S - 10 i had to make them fit a little but once i got them in they were all set and looking good..they sound absolutely awesome and have decent bass keeping in mind that the job of a 4 x 6 dash speaker is to do the mids and highs and this speaker does an excellent job of that.. i am using the factory cd player..But i can crank it and every note is crystal clear these are really good speakers for the money i highly reccomend these speakers for the dash of your vehicle...

Great Speakers

Written By Jake, Cedar Lake, IN on Friday, April 01, 2005

These speakers are great for the price. I listen to a lot of hip hop and rap, but occasional rock and they hit everything. They support the bass and hit the highs crisp and clear. Set these puppies up good and you'll be set. I'm running it from my little 19RMS head unit and it sounds great.

I got a pair of these for my Chevy truck, Wonderful sound quality and volume. I'm a Metal, Grunge person and they can reproduce the vocals, guitars, and Bass Guitars with unerring accuracy. I can pump mine with so much bass they rattle my dash but they sound clear as long as you stay above the low-end frequency. The highs are divine and I've had mine for a while and have yet to have a problem. A great deal. I recommend Pioneer to anyone looking for CRYSTAL sound, Its the only brand I use...

Product Research

Woofers: Each speaker features an interlaced Aramid fiber-reinforced IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) cone woofer with a foam surround. With long Aramid fibers interlacing together inside, this IMPP cone design provides the strength and rigidity powerful bass sound requires. The high-density, compressed internal architecture is resilient, stacks up against high power and transfers sound very quickly. The result is full-bodied, rich sound.

Midranges: Each speaker uses a 1" Foamed Pearl PolyCarbon (PPC) balanced dome midrange with magnetic fluid and a strontium magnet. PPC is a lightweight material that delivers high sensitivity, open sound character and smooth extended frequency response. Its high inner loss reduces distortion. It's blended with special carbon fiber for UV resistance and protection against the harsh environment of a car.

Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 3/8" PET silver film dome tweeter for crisp, clear highs.

Mounting: The speakers can be top-mounted in a metric 4"x6" opening, or, using the supplied adapter rings, the speakers can be top-mounted in a U.S. standard 4"x6" opening.
