Features Woofers: Each speaker features an interlaced Aramid fiber-reinforced IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) cone woofer with a foam surround. With long Aramid fibers interlacing together inside, this IMPP cone design provides the strength and rigidity powerful bass sound requires. The high-density, compressed internal architecture is resilient, stacks up against high power and transfers sound very quickly. The result is full-bodied, rich sound. Midranges: Each speaker uses a 1" Foamed Pearl PolyCarbon (PPC) balanced dome midrange with magnetic fluid and a strontium magnet. PPC is a lightweight material that delivers high sensitivity, open sound character and smooth extended frequency response. Its high inner loss reduces distortion. It's blended with special carbon fiber for UV resistance and protection against the harsh environment of a car. Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 3/8" PET silver film dome tweeter for crisp, clear highs. Mounting: The speakers can be top-mounted in a metric 4"x6" opening, or, using the supplied adapter rings, the speakers can be top-mounted in a U.S. standard 4"x6" opening. I HAD them in my 94 chevrolet silverado, but i replaced them with sony xplod 4x6's. I had the pioneers in the fron of my pickup, and kickers in the back, the pioneers lasted longer than the kickers, but the kickers sounded better, but i replaced them all for no reason i guess. GM should consider making bigger speaker openings. 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Great Buy - Excellent Sound Written By odellk, Apopka, FL on Friday, January 20, 2006 I bought these for the front doors of my 2001 Cavalier sedan, in addition to purchasing Pioneer TS-A1681R6-1/2"/6-3/4" 4-ways for the rear deck. I installed these after the rear deck speakers and find them to be a perfect complement to the 4 ways. When isolating the front speakers only, they produce clear highs, mids and lows. Surprisingly enough, they produce enough bass that in bass heavy songs, I feel the vibration of the bass on my legs. True, it's not enough to rattle your brain cells, but it is a surprising amount of bass from such a small speaker. In tandem with the rear speakers, they were over powered with the balance centered front to rear. Move the balance one notch toward the front, however and the music is centered to the driver perfectly. With this tiny adjustment, they are no longer over powered and you can enjoy all the nuances of the music you've never heard with the factory speakers.I'm planning on putting an amp and 12" subs in the trunk, which is why I went against the recommendation of crutchfield and got the 4 ways for the rear. I detailed this decision in my review for the 4 way speakers listed above. These are quality speakers and well worth the money for the front doors of a vehicle. I wouldn't recommend them for the rear deck unless that is the biggest speaker you can fit there. 4 out of 4 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I put these in the dask of my 90 seirra. Easy install I think the price is a bit to high. But great speaker if you have bass blockers 2 out of 2 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Written By Joel, Philadelphia, PA on Tuesday, November 08, 2005 BOTTOM LINE: These are pretty decent speakers and I'm happy with them, but don't expect bass thumping from them. UPSIDE: I like rock and I like it loud and they manage everything I throw at them. Crutchfields free connectors and other adapters were dead on and the installation took about 10 minutes (really). I actually installed them one mornng before leaving for work. The speakers do a nice job with highs and mids and, so far, they handle what bass I've thrown at them. They were the only three-way speakers I found in the price range.DOWNSIDE: Not really a complaint, but given what they are, I feel like they could've cost a little less. They will rattle a bit if you get too much bass toward them. I haven't needed bass blockers, though, as I use them for the front only and send the bass back. Was this review helpful? I can't tell you how easy it was to install the receiver and the 5 1/4 inch speakers in to my 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Sounds great and it took about 2 hours to get the job done. One problem though, and that is with the 4X6 speakers for the front of the truck. Need an adaptor plate and the screws that came with the speakers don't fit and neither did the screws that came with the adaptor plate. So I'll have to get some at the hardware store or have Crutchfield send me replacements. Check with Crutchfield by voice before getting the these 4X6's for a Jeep Wrangler to make sure you have the right parts. Otherwise, the "plug and play" ability of all the components made this an easy install. Could always use more power so now we'll have to look at adding a subwoofer and go from there... 14 out of 14 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
