Features

Woofers: Each speaker features an interlaced Aramid fiber-reinforced IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) cone woofer. With long Aramid fibers interlacing together inside, this IMPP cone design provides the strength and rigidity powerful bass sound requires. The high-density, compressed internal architecture is resilient, stacks up against high power and transfers sound very quickly. The result is full-bodied, rich sound.

Surrounds: For durability and a smoother response, each speaker uses a butyl rubber surround.

Midranges: Each speaker uses a 1-5/8" Foamed Pearl PolyCarbon (PPC) balanced-dome midrange with magnetic fluid and a strontium magnet. PPC is a lightweight material that delivers high sensitivity, open sound character and smooth extended frequency response. Its high inner loss reduces distortion. It's blended with special carbon fiber for UV resistance and protection against the harsh environment of a car.

Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 3/8" PET silver film dome tweeter for crisp, clear highs.

Can't beat the value

Written By Michael, Havelock, NC on Saturday, January 14, 2006

I put these behind the seat of my Ford F-150 and they might be the best value available. I put more expensive speakers in the front doors and after hearing the difference in sound quality I should have saved some money and put these Pioneers up front too. Not to mention these speakers were actually slightly bigger than the more expensive speakers. I highly recommend these speakers for both their value and quality.

Amazing

Written By Joe, Hauppauge, New York on Wednesday, October 05, 2005

All I can say is wow! I'm upgrading my car system slowly, and this was the first change I made and did it make a difference. I replaced my stock speakers (both fronts and backs) with these 3-ways and I don't think I could have spent 79.99 any better. It was a real bargain and the quality is amazing. Even my friend who installs car systems as a side job was amazed at the quality of the sound that was produced. Good Buy for anyone in need of some good speakers.

Excellent Speakers

Written By Ace, Sharon Springs, NY on Monday, September 19, 2005

I installed these speakers in my 96 Explorer matched with an Alpine 9847 deck that puts out 72W for all 4 channels together and that is all you need! The installation was simple and easy except for the screws that were supplied by Pioneer were simply not adequate enough so I had to reuse the stock screws, No biggie. Lets just say if you are considering these speakers, when cranking with the treble all the way up and the bass most of the way up, i can play them so that my rear view and side mirrors shake! Yes they are that good. Overall EXCELLENT product by Pioneer.

Excellent Speakers

Written By Scott, Cleveland, OH on Monday, September 19, 2005

I finally got to take these for a long drive to really test them out. I love them.

I have these powered by an Alpine head unit and paired up with a boomy sub, which means I need my speakers to pump out 80Hz and higher, since my sub booms the very low frequencies best. These speakers handle everything the head unit could give to them.

They are rather versatile. They can be warm or very crisp, depending on the head unit setup. Warm enough to do Mark Knopfler justice and crisp enough for Pearl Jam.

The speakers make me wish I had an external amp -- at excessive volume, the midrange gets muddied up by the bass. The 18W RMS I have is fine for serious volume over open-window freeway noise while next to a truck.

For all but the serious audiophile (that really has no place in a noisy vehicular setting), these speakers are excellent. Considering the price, they are easy to recommend.

decent

Written By Grant, virginia beach,va on Friday, September 16, 2005

pretty good speakers, but not great. i went from 2 working/2 half blown stock Ford Contour speakers to a set of these pioneers, and really, the difference isnt all that incredible. Now all I can really say is that I have working speakers now. bass response isnt anything to run home about but the high end is pretty good.

Killer speakers, great price

Written By Brian, FL on Tuesday, July 12, 2005

I added these speakers after replacing my Mustang's factory deck with the Kenwood SR700. These speakers sound great with Sirius or cds, nice bass for the size and very clear! From my experience Pioneer makes speakers that really sound good inside of a car no matter the deck. This is the 2nd vehicle I have had aftermarket Pioneer speakers in (the other had a Pioneer deck) and the sound difference has been amazing with both.

Great value

Written By Richard, Long Island, NY on Tuesday, July 12, 2005

There wasn't a huge slection that would fit in the doors on my car and I normally wouldn't have gone with what I considered a lower end speaker. It did have features I wanted like rubber surrounds. I am impressed with the value these Pioneers provide. Highs are clear and there is decent bass output for a 6x8. Overall they are a great value. You get alot for the money.

Pioneer TS-A6870R

Written By Casey, San Jose, CA on Tuesday, July 12, 2005

Great speakers! Put them my '99 Ford Ranger ... fit just right. I've been really impressed with the lower end on these speakers -- plenty for the space in my truck, even without an amp. The highs are clear as well ... go with the threeways: well worth the extra money.

I paired these with a Panasonic CQ-C8100U, made for a very nice combination.

Yes, it is better to use the screws that came with the speakers -- Ford factory screws won't fit.

Well Worth It

Written By Chris, Grand Isle, ME on Friday, July 01, 2005

I bought these speakers to replace the front ones in my 1993 Crown Victoria because the stereo I installed, a Pioneer DEH-P8MP, with its 60 watts per channel, yes 60, decided that the factory ones were too weak and that they must be sacrificed in the name of good tunes. The only problem that I had was that the master sheet told me to use the car's screws, but the washer that's built into the head of said screw was too large for the the space above the hole of the speaker mount. Other than that this speaker is perfect, nice highs, awesome bass, a well rounded speaker.
