Took me about 30 minutes of install time to get them in,and after testing them,it was "lacking". While the mid's and high's sound great, when you turn it up to any reasonable volume with a song that has bass in it,all you get is distortion. As in stock speakers put these to shame. In an old cop car. I hope I'm getting the point through. Only good thing is the warranty on them. Was this review helpful? Yes | No 2 out of 5 Horrible Written By Jared, Buffalo, NY on Friday, November 23, 2007 When I was looking for new speaker to replace my factory ones I looked around the site for a good pair, for both front and back, in my 99 ford ranger. I found these and read the reviews and then bought them thinking that they were gonna sound great. I was truly dissapointed when I put these into the front door of my truck. They sounded very distant and there was absolutaly no bass. I will have to say that the highs were very nice but if you turn these speakers to any kind of loudness they sound terrible so even putting in a sub you wouldn't be able to listen to it loud. I also about a pair if Sony XS-V680HP speakers to replace the rear speakers. I would reccomend these Sony speakers to anyone looking to buy them. I am replacing the pioneers with the sonys as soon as my return gets filled. Also, if it matter at all, I have an Apline CDA-9883. (really nice) 3 out of 7 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Great! Written By Tyler, Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, October 27, 2007 I've been researching these speakers a lot lately, mainly because of the good reviews and the low price. The speakers sound GREAT! I had trouble removing my door panels without the usual instructions that you recieve from ordering from Crutchfield, so the installation took me a good 2-3 hours. After I put each speaker in I reconnected my battery to make sure it worked properly, and the speakers sounded really low and soft compared to my factories, but after I put the 4th speaker in my Ford f-150 I hopped in and turned it up. I was incredibly awed by the clarity for some cheap Pioneers, they really make my factories sound like garbage. I would definitly buy these speakers again. 2 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 4 out of 5 Better than factory Written By Pete, Colorado on Sunday, August 12, 2007 These speakers were replacements of Pioneers 6x8 2 way speakers (TS-G6841R). They are a big improvement over both the factory speakers and the model listed above. They still aren't "steallar" speakers, but sound good compared to others. They are a good priced speaker to upgrade your factory ones without breaking the bank. Lows are improved quite well, and highs are very bright. If you are looking for budget speakers, spend the extra money and get these over the base Pioneer model. Early 2000 Toy Tacoma Xtra cab owners - get ready to take apart most of the back seat panels! Install instructions from Crutchfield were very good, but alot of work, especially when I had to replace the speakers again to pull the first set put in!First time Crutchfield user - would use again. They did a good job, and didn't give any problems about returning set that I didn't care for. Prices are fair, and technical support was knowledgable, and really wanted to help. 1 out of 3 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 3 out of 5 Below Expectations Written By jeff, Arlington, TX on Saturday, May 12, 2007 Installed these speakers in the front of my 2006 Grand Marquis, replacing the factory units. After a week, I put the factories back in.The Pioneers did have some advantages such as lower lows, cleaner highs and superior imaging, but they also had some distinct disadvantages. Music sounded dull and lifeless if the mid frequency response on my head unit's equalizer was increased, and speech sounded like it was coming from the bottom of a well. If I decreased the mid response, and moved the bass and treble center frequencies out, speech/voice performance improved, but then the music sounded thin.I tried everything I could think of to see what might be wrong with my new Pioneer speakers. I isolated left/right and front/back as a quick check to see if something was reverse polarized. I used a test tone CD to check for holes across the frequency range. And, I tried a huge array of equalizer adjustments, all to no avail. No matter what I did, music on the Pioneers sounded, at best, like music on the radio. Music on my factory speakers always sounded like it was being performed in the car. While these Pioneers aren't horrible speakers, they just didn't meet my expectations. 5 out of 9 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
