Can't find your exact car?

You jump in your ride and turn on your favorite song — you're straining to hear the snare drum, but it's still just barely audible. And that dull, fuzzy-sounding bass guitar is just about breaking your heart. Pioneer TS-A Series speakers bring your music back into focus with precise, superior reproduction of instruments and vocals, so all those details you love will really pop.

Pioneer's TS-A6874R 3-way speakers feature 6"x8" woofers with stiff Aramid-reinforced polypropylene cones that ensure clarity in your music's bass and percussion. Highly elastic polymer surrounds help keep cone movement under control, for smooth, tight bass. The 1-5/8" cones fill in all the midrange details for lush vocals and crisp instruments.

Soft dome tweeters deliver warm, dimensional treble, so you'll hear all the overtones that give your music ambiance. The built-in crossovers ensure that the right frequencies go to the tweeter, midrange, and woofer, so your music sounds natural, just as the artist intended.

Product Highlights:

  • 6x8" 3-way car speakers (pair)
  • mica-injected polypropylene woofer with elastic polymer surround
  • 1-5/8" cone midrange
  • 3/8" Mylar balanced dome tweeter
  • power range: 2-40 watts RMS (350 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 30-30,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-7/16"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

1998 Ford E Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great value. I use these speakers in our 27' Class C motorhome as replacements for the originals. They do a good job providing sound for the front half of the vehicle. There is some minor distortion if I really crank them up, but to be honest, I'm not sure if it's due to the 18 year old original AM/FM Cassette deck or the speakers...Only time will tell. Our products were delivered quickly and without incident from Crutchfield. Installation instructions were spot on for our Ford E-350 cab and literally took me about 20 minutes per door using the wiring harness provided!

Pros: Great set of speakers for the money. I recommend them.

Cons: None. Thanks Crutchfield!

2011 Ford Taurus
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

One of the techs at Crutchfield recommended these for my 2011 Taurus, even though I gave him no price range and he could have recommended more expensive speakers ( I wouldn't have necessarily bought them). I was impressed by his recommendation, as these are very modestly priced speakers. They arrived quickly and fit perfectly, with nothing else needed. Would buy again.

Pros: PRICE. At $80 a pair, they are hard to beat. The bass is firm and punchy, not vague. The midrange is excellent and the treble is very good. They seem capable of handling a fair amount of power without distortion. If you want above average sound at a below average price, buy these speakers.

Cons: None, really. I think you would have to pay 2 or 3 times what these cost to realized slightly better sound.

2006 Mazda 3
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Blew out the Bose "premium" sound in my Mazda 3 so I got these. They absolutely blow the Bose system out of the water! Great purchase.

Pros: Good bass response, fits perfectly, easy install, relatively clear. Would be able to put more here if it weren't running off the factory deck, but either way I'm happy, vast improvement from the Bose system. As an aside, the speakers for the Bose system are crap. I could build a better speaker with butcher paper...

Cons: A little muddled, the frequencies kind of run together but that may very well be due to the fact that they're running off the factory deck.

New front speakers for 02 Sable wagon

Written by: PEB from Littleton, Co on July 10, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers for the price. They replaced a blown speaker in front left door. The installation went well and the Ford installation wires that came with installation kit and speakers made it a plug in operation. No wire splicing! The instructions said tie off speaker wires; do it. I learned the hard way when passenger door window wouldn't go all the way down.

Pros: easy install and very good speakers for price.

Cons: none.

2008 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speaker, especially for the price! I have a 2008 F150 Crew Cab and I replaced all four speakers with these Pioneers. The improvement of sound from stock was fantastic! So much more low end and very balanced sound. Of course they aren't going to rattle your car apart because they are just the door speakers, but they do add a nice little thump over the stock speakers and the overall clarity is vastly superior. The highs are crisp and clear with clear mids and full bodied lows. I would definitely recommend these speakers to anyone who wants to improve their stock system for cheap. My stock head unit is powering these currently, and there is plenty of power till you crank it and in bass heavy songs they start to drop out and beg for more power but at about half volume they are perfect.

Pros: Price, sound, ease of installation

Cons: None that I can think of

Good speakers, Had to replace all 4 tho

Written by: Michael from College Station TX on May 22, 2012

These are good speakers for highs and lows wouldnt recommend them for any bass tho al tho they do produce some, my friend has alpines and they work better for bass, but i have had to replace all four speakers because they bust easily, so if your going to be cranking your music with a 1000 watt amp and no subs i wouldnt recommend this product.

Pros: Highs, Lows, Quality

Cons: Breaks easy, lacks bass, expensive to replace

I'm very happy with these speakers in my 2011 Ford F-150. The stock speakers were terrible, and these make listening to music much more enjoyable. Crutchfield had a good price on the speakers, but more importantly have outstanding support. Really appreciated the detailed installation instructions and adapters, made the process as simple as possible.

Pros: Great Sound Crutchfield support is fantastic Reasonable price

Cons: None

Installed 3 months ago with Ford Mach 460 in '03 Mustang. Sounded good at first, now gone. Bass crackles and any decent volume and forget about playing them loudly. They are starting to distort mids at higher volumes. I knew they wouldn't have much bass. 6X8's are notorious for lacking bass, but this is unacceptable. Will not buy again. Going back to Infinity!

Pros: Sound good at first

Cons: Didn't last on factory system.

1999 Ford Ranger
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Trying to install these in the back of my 1999 Ford Ranger Supercab but they have this plastic ring on them that says "custom-fit ford mazda", and because of this ring, they sit on top of the grill instead of inside and the stock screws are too short and won't even thread in. When I called tech support, I was told to take a dremel and sand down the edges. If I have to modify my grills to fit speakers that are supposedly made for this vehicle (which wouldn't work anyways because you don't want to sand down the screw holes which are right next to the grill ring), then why buy them?

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a little skeptical about these speakers at first but man I am sure happy I got them. They sound very clear and dish out decent bass. I also have a JVC KW-HDR81BT to go with it. Now I've seen in some of the reviews people complaining about bass. I listen to a lot of rap and I personally think they sound great. I didn't want to get a sub or amp when I was looking at upgrading my car sound. I personally think too much bass ruins the music by drowning out the artist voice. So overall these speakers get the job done for me. If your not planning on getting a sub or amp get these speakers you will not be disappointed.

Pros: Clear sound, good bass, reasonable price

Cons: None

Put these speakers in my 2010 F-150 to use with my factory radio unit, they are a wonderful improvement over the OEM speakers that were in the truck. Good sound from hi to bass, they are sharp and clear. These speakers were recommended by the Cruchfield staff and they were right on. In my last F-150 I had Sony in the rear and and Polk in the front, the Pioneer's are better.

Pros: Good sound, fit was perfect.

Cons: None

Speakers sound very good compared to factory speakers, alot clearer and alot more bass. Listen to a wide range of music , and all genres sound good. I also have an aftermarket Alpine CDE-102 deck installed. Highly recommend for the price, awesome speakers.

An Average Speaker

2012 Ford F-150 FX4
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are crisp and clear and as other reviewers have stated, there is little/light bass. I just didn't know how little bass they had. I am sure some of this is compounded by the fact the stock radio from FORD is weak(maybe 14watts) thus the use of 1ohm speakers. But there is no real punch, I expected some bass to be there but it is not. I had bought four of these to put into my supercab but after listing to them I have decide to return one set and look for a speaker with less resistance and lower frequency response(under 30HZ).

Pros: Great mid tones and crisp highs Better than the factory- the factories stuff sounded really "muddy"

Cons: Next to no bass with the factory radio

Pioneer TS-A6874R = The speakers to upgrade from Factory

Written by: AndreO from San Antonio,TX on February 14, 2012

Terrific speakers. I expected them to be better than the Factory speakers....BUT I DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE THIS GREAT!!! I have a 1998 Ford Taurus SE. I am currently unable to upgrade the Stereo with an aftermarket because I have electronic climate control (as oppose from the rotary climate control) and there are no stereo integration kit for that particular feature, which really sucks. But again, these are the speakers to upgrade from the factory speakers. Installed them on the 10th and they sound fantastic. Bass, percussion, vocals sound awesome (I listen to a lot of Hip Hop and R&B, if that helps anyone reading this). I wish I could upgrade the stereo with an aftermarket to get the FULL sound, but I'm still proud that I bought these speakers.

Pros: Great Product Easy to install

Cons: None that I'm aware of.

WOW! Pioneer TS-A6874R 6x8 of =4. (2) Front (2) Rear. These sound good in my Ford Mustang 2006 (AUTO) I can only assume why the rating are good & bad some say it's ok & read some say awesome! Well I say awesome! I can hear the difference the clear sound,bass,drums,etc.... The speakers are played with Pioneer DEH-4400HD. I also left a review as well. It depends on your like of BASS,DRUMS,etc. It is LOUD. My Volume on 34 is loud.

Installed in a Ford Mustang 2006 (AUTO) Pioneer DEH-4400HD Pioneer TS-A6874R 6x8 of =4. (2) Front (2) Rear NO AMP. This will give you a hint.

Pros: You do get the clear sound.

Cons: None.

Upgrade for 2006 Ford F-350 Crew Cab Lariat Pickup

Written by: KenT from Fallon, Nevada on November 21, 2011

Replaced all 4 OEM 6x8 speakers in my truck with these Pioneer TS-A6874R 3-way speakers. Fantastic improvement over the stock speakers. Bass is still present...just more defined and much tighter...and the Pioneer's are not as booming (muddy) as the stockers. Midrange is much better and so are the highs. Vocals are much smoother, strings and horns are very good, and percussion is greatly improved. All this with the stock 6-disc AM-FM headunit...almost as if I put in a whole new system. I cannot tell that there has been any dropoff in loudness (there has to have been some I would say because of the crossover involved)...these speakers are very efficient. I like to listen to 50's through 90's rock and pop, jazz, country, and instrumentals...I don't listen to hip hop or rap. That gives you an idea about what I listen to. If you want deep and loud thumping bass then get a subwoofer...after all these are only 6x8 speakers...if the bass of you stock speakers is adequate then these will improve the bass in your vehicle. I highly recommend these speakers.

Pros: Exact fit upgrade for the OEM speakers.

Cons: Nothing.

2010 Ford F-150 XLT

I bought 2 sets of these speakers and 2 sets of baffles for my 2010 Ford F-150 Supercrew and ended up sending a set back because the stock speakers produce significantly more bass than these. I was expecting the highs to be a little better as well. Installation was easy, and Crutchfiled made it very easy to return the set I didn't want. So now I have these in the front and the stock speakers in the back. The audio sounds a little better now, but wish I could find a speaker to fit the stock cutouts to produce a little more bass than the stock with the factory head-unit.

I picked up two pairs of these 6x8s to replace the factory Bose speakers, one of which was blown. Also a Kenwood head unit, and a Sound Ordinace 8" powered sub. The speaker install was incredibly easy and the sound in my Mazdaspeed 3 is completely transformed. This is the perfect replacement speaker for my car. Highly recommended; completely blows away the factory Bose setup.

replaced stock speakers with these

Written by: Mark O from New Jersey on August 23, 2011

I bought 2 pair of these to replace the stock door speakers in my 2005 Ford Five Hundred. I had already upgraded the factory head unit with a Sony MEX-BT2800 and wanted better speakers. These are a huge improvement over the stock speakers and really sound nice, but as many other reviewers have noted while the bass is clear it's not very strong. So to boost my low end I added a Sound Ordinance B-8PT powered sub unit under the driver's seat. Now I get the crisp, clear highs and mids from my 4 new Pioneers in the doors and nice, smooth thump from the sub! All in all very happy with the whole set-up and especially happy with Crutchfield's service. The master sheets were perfect and my advisor Sid was super helpful!

I bought two pairs of these to replace the ones that came stock in my 2010 F-150 FX-4 (Without Sony upgrade).

The speakers sound great, I am not however, a speaker snob. They have awesome clarity but the bass isn't going to make your girlfriend happy. Perfect speakers if you are looking for good quality without breaking the bank.

FYI: For 2010-11 F-150 drivers. In front doors, instead of trying to unconnect the door release cable, just pop the whole assembly out of the door, it will make you life so much easier. In the back doors you will need a Torx T-50 head. Also in the back, it's going to make your life easier to just pop the whole electric window button assembly out of the panel instead of trying to pull the wire harness out while it's still in the door panel.

Would definitely buy these again!

So I bought these to replace the horrid stock speakers in the rear deck of my 98 Ford Escort. Due to the low price, I was willing to settle for something that in my mind, would sound ok, and would make nasty distorted noises every time a bass note was played. However, as soon as I threw these baby's in the back of my car, I was amazed! For the price, these have tight, punchy bass, without any boomy ghetto-thump. These speakers seem to have good build quality and sound great but beware, these puppies want power! I learned the hard way you won't get much bass if you power these with just an in-dash head unit putting out ~14 watts RMS. These speakers want 40 watts RMS to really sound their best. An amp purchase is most likely in my future now. However, even with just a head unit, the highs and mids sound great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers sound great. Magnets on the back were smaller than I expected, but overall the sound is much better than the stock speakers. Speakers are very clear and bring a new dimension to my otherwise stock setup. They were a direct fit on my 09 Ford Fusion with the exception that my front door speakers had built-in crossovers that removed the highs and sent them to tweeters located in the door pillars. My stock speakers had two plugs on them and these Pioneers didn't. When I called Crutchfield, they were not aware of this even though I asked about this before I purchased them. I was told these speakers were a direct replacement. Of course when I hooked them up I lost my tweeters so I went from a six speaker system to a four speaker system. This was not acceptable and the tech advisor was no help, he wanted me to cut my factory wiring and splice in extra connectors (which wouldn't have solved anything) I ended up having to unsolder the crossovers and connecting plug from the old speakers and solder them to the new ones in order to keep my tweeters. Not a big deal if your handy that way but I would have bought component speakers if I had known.

I bought these to replace the original speakers in my truck. I still haven't gotten my
new Pioneer HD radio yet but even with an 18yr old cassette deck pushing these
speakers they sound AWESOME! If you really like the thumping bass you'll still
want to get a sub but they do have good bass for regular speakers. It's like having
a concert in my truck!

1996 Ford Ranger JAMMIN"!

Excellent speakers!! I replaced the "factory premium" speakers. (2front/2rear)
Actually the factory set did not sound to bad but for the price of the speakers
and my own installation it really took my "tunage" to a new level at a very
reasonable cost. Installation was fairly simple. The bolt holes and size
matched flawlessly to the factory speakers. Just needed to clip the pigtail off
the factory end and use the basic red wire connectors. Dont let the door panel
removal scare you. I just typed in "remove door panels from 1996 Ford Ranger"
in the internet search and found multiple hits for how to remove the front door
panels even including a video. I'm sure this would work for any car style. 4
phillip screws and 1 torx screw for the door handle. There were NO clips, just
lift the door panel straight up and it comes off. I have a newer Pioneer deck
pushing 50Watts X4 so no need for an Amp. All tho if I was 17 yrs old and had
the extra cash I may have gotten one. Not really neccessary tho, these
speakers pump. Very happy with my total Pioneer system.

I replaced my stock back speakers with these and they work great. nice tight
bass and beautifully working tweeters. first pair of speakers i put in myself,
easy instalation with the Crutchfield kit, which came free. only problem is i put
them in, and I got them working and had to resader the right tweeter because
the peice c ame off, 10 minute fix though so nothing more than a minor
annoyance. great for the cheap price!

The difference between factory installed and the TS-A6874R is like night and day. The
crisp clarity of the sound is absolutely magnificent.

Nice and crisp, Im keepin it pioneer for now on...

Im gonna tell you right now, Ive messed with Kenwoods, Alpine, Rockfords, and many other speakers, either putting them in friends cars, or just playing with a pair that Ive owned, and these pioneers are supreme. Pioneer has been around since my folks were my age, and there is a reason they are still around. These obviously blow the stocks in my 98 buick century, got them for christmas. No amp, just a pioneer head unit, and a pair of sony 4x6 coaxials in the doors. These are great for doors or the rear deck, but My rear deck is the housing for these bad boys. These are hard to distort, and I was surprised at how nicely built these were, the buthyl rubber surrounds seemed really flimsy, but they definately drive right out the box! Im trading my sony 4x6 speakers along with 20 bucks for a friends barely used 12 inch sony explode to hook up to my 1200 watt explode amp, and getting myself a matching pair of 6.5 speakers so Ill have a full set of pioneer besides the sub. Im going to stick with this brand for now on, as these arent wallet suckers and they actually stand up with the higher end brands, although kickers are probably the prize takers, but 2 or 3 times the price! Great speakers, all in all!

Product Research

Woofers: Each speaker features an IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) cone woofer interlaced with carbon graphite and long aramid fibers and a 7.6-ounce strontium ferrite magnet. This IMPP cone design provides the strength and rigidity that powerful bass requires. The high-density, compressed internal architecture is resilient and transfers sound very quickly. The result is full-bodied, rich sound.

Surrounds: For durability and a smooth response, each woofer uses an elastic polymer surround.

Midranges: Each speaker has a 1-5/8" polyester fiber cone midrange for accurate response with low distortion. The midranges have 0.7 ounce strontium ferrite magnets.

Tweeters: Each speaker uses a 3/8" dome tweeter made from PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) film for crisp, clear highs.
