If you drive a Ford, you need to buy these right now! I had the Infinity 6820's front and back and they were ok, didn't hold bass at all, could never really find the sweet spot. My setup consists of modest gear, and Alpine head unit, Alpine KTP 445 amp, a 500 watt Kicker amp with 2 MTX 10" (avoid this amp at all costs) Just running the 6x8's off the alpine KTP amp sounds better than I had imagined, the highs are crisp, mids and bass are adequate, you won't win any awards but if you want good sounds for not a lot of money this is an option. I can no longer roll the windows down all the way, they go down about 3/4 travel but then hit the speaker magnets. I previously had a pair of Polk 6 x 8's in there that fit fine but one eventually blew out so I chose these Pioneers as a replacement. The stock speakers are fine, but these pick up so much more of the music that it sounds great. A little but more bass, which isn't really what I was after, but much more detail in the music. The installation was a bit of a pain, but still do-able. The instructions from Crutchfield list an 01 as an 02, but no big deal. One major issue that will make the installation run much smoother...take off the seatbelt retaining bolts!! The brackets stick up just enough to drive you insane while putting the body panel back up. I was tired of listening to my wife say she did not like how distorted the music was with my Duel receiver was with the stock speakers. They were easy to install with the guide that Crutchfield sent with them, and easy to hook up with the wiring harness they also sent. It only took me about an hour to replace all 4. The hardest part was removing the door panels, but I have done it before to replace the power window motors, it was no big deal. They fit in the stock openings, and the screws lined up correctly with no problems. They now sound so much better, you can hear the full range of the music now. Granted, they are not built to "thump" with the heavy base, but I don't like my music that way anyway. If you want the base, then get a set of kickers, etc. But for everyday use they sound clear, and great. The installation was smooth and easy. The sound was great lots of clear mid and high end without distortion at higher levels. I ended up buying duct insulation and insulating my doors, this almost doubled the bass and increased the sound quality quite a bit. Over all these are great speakers. Now for the bad (for some people). The bass is lacking. Crutchfield sent the package quickly and I replaced my factory speakers as soon as it came.
