Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good sound for the price. Installed in jeep wrangle, dash corners. I refused to invest in moderately protected components. Decent sound, economical, I'm happy. I do recommend purchasing baffles also. I read the reviews, an they do indeed make a difference.

Pros: Price, sound

Cons: None yet.

Great product for price

Pros: Value

Cons: Needed to add a couple of mounting holes in car door because speaker holes didn't align with existing door holes. Minor, easy problem to fix.

1997 Nissan Hardbody
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product came well packaged along with the extra adapters needed for installation. The weekend following delivery I installed both the stereo and speakers from Crutchfield. The door panels to my truck were a bit hard to remove, but once they were off the speakers were a piece of cake to swap out. I have a 1997 Nissan hardbody with 4 speakers, but I was only able to find 2 speakers that would fit the front. I had spoken with an adviser here at Crutchfield, who helped me determine that they didn't carry a single set of speakers that would fit the back. So, as a result of only having working front speakers, the sound isn't all it would be if I had replaced the back as well. Once the front speakers were swapped for some reason the factory speakers in the back stopped working altogether. My factory speakers were horrible anyway. They were constantly buzzing and cutting out, but what can you expect from an 18 year old pair of speakers. Anything is a step up from what I had before. These work very well considering their size and that they are trying to compensate for the missing back speakers, however, there is very little bass.

Pros: Plays music.

Cons: No good bass.

These speakers were used to replace my stock tweeters I had in my 1989 Toyota SR5 and these compared to my stock were phenomenally better sounding and gave me overall clarity of whatever I desired to play. It's a great product and I'd recommend anybody to this great site!

Pros: Clarity, great sound, handles bass well,

Cons: Small screws with small heads

These do a good job considering they are small and for a small opening. Mine came with the adapters to mount in a 4x6 opening as well and worked perfectly.

Pros: Good for the price.

Cons: Wish they were more efficient.

2004 Subaru Impreza WRX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these to replace the speakers in the rear doors of my 2004 WRX wagon. PO had installed 5-1/4" 2-way Kickers in the rear doors (and used sheet metal screws to attach the speakers!). As the factory mounting brackets were gone I make mounting rings out of 1/4" MDF. The speakers fit like factory and sound better than the Kickers despite being smaller. Guess the prior mounting method distorted the basket of the larger Kickers. Love the crisp sound from the Pioneers. Need an amp and sub to give the whole system a little more punch. (Installed Pioneer TS-A1305C in the front doors and a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X798 at the same time - see my reviews for those items.)

Pros: Good quality, crisp clean sound, nice speakers for the money.

Cons: None really. Just wish they were bigger for more bass response.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When these speakers are priced this low, what more could you ask for? Plus I like how Crutchfield always saves you the time and headache of finding the appropriate harness and whatever other little components you might need. Anyways, since these speakers are 2 in 1, they produce a good enough sound to cover most mid and high range frequencies. Although the Pioneer TS-G1044R are not big enough to produce that low bass, for what they cost, what more do you want? They do what they were designed to do and they do it well.

Pros: Clean mid and high range thanks to the 2 in 1 design.

Cons: Not enough bass.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It is supposed to be the exact fit for the rear deck speakers on a 2001 Grand Prix Bose w/o onstar. However, the speaker base is too large to fit the factory-installed Bose shelf and the mounting holes are not even close. But 5 stars for Crutchfield, as they are trying to do everything possible to make it right.

Pros: Looks nice.

Cons: Doesn't fit.

Only lasted 3 months

Written by: Austin from Louisville, KY on July 19, 2012

These speakers were easy to install in my 1999 Jeep Wrangler, and they sounded good for a little bit. But after a month the quality started to decrease. And now, three months after installation, one of the speakers is producing a scratchy, tinny sound. I play my music at low volumes, and nobody else uses my jeep, so the speaker was not damaged by volume. I am contacting pioneer, but there's not much I can do as my box got thrown away.

Pros: Good clear sound, clear highs and strong mids- for a time

Cons: Speakers have deteriorated at normal volume at mid RMS power. Now the sound is annoying to listen to

Great upgrade from stock: '92 4Runner

Written by: Domitus from NoCo on April 6, 2012

1992 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds good, handles volume well, good separation between the highs and lows/mids. Not as powerful on the low end as I would have hoped, even with the 4Runner's speakers boxes, but they are 4" speakers and really aren't meant for that. I had recently installed some 6.5" Infinity two-ways in a friends car, and they BUMPED, so I was a bit disappointed that these couldn't match it, but again: 4" speakers, ya know? Huge improvement over stock.

The instructions were pretty good but didn't mention that on the face of the speaker box this attaches to there is a small, curved ridge that will keep the speaker from sitting entirely flat. You would either have to take it off with a Dremel, or just bend one of the screws tabs over it. I just bent the tab and it is secure and sits flush. The holes in the speaker box don't entirely match up, so I just predrilled like a 1/16" hole for all of them and then used the new screws that came with it. Worked fine. The kit came with everything I needed, no problems there.

To summarize: sounds pretty good for 4" speakers, I am very happy with the purchase, the instructions missed some minor details but nothing that common sense can't over come. I would recommend to a friend and am very happy with the purchase and certainly with Crutchfield.

Pros: Good sound for what they are. Excellent upgrade from stock. Clear separation of different frequencies. All necessary parts included. Good price and fast shipping.

Cons: Minor modifications necessary for a 2nd gen 4Runner that were not detailed in the instructions.

Excellent

These speakers fit perfectly in the space provided to replace my original speakers in the back of my 1991 Geo Storm Hatchback 2 + 2. After 21 years, the originals literally disintegrated. For 4 inch speakers, I don't know what would be any better. No modifications needed, fit and work perfectly. Nice sound. Better then OEM.

1980 Chevrolet LUV
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Any speaker will be only as good as its placement. My speakers replaced Jensen speakers in my truck doors. They are probably a bit less sound wise than the Jensen when new. (The Jensen speakers had a larger magnet as was a much heavier speaker.) Considering the size and the placement of the speaker, I doubt there will be any great improvement with other brands. That is of course only my opinion and I have not installed a number of them to determine quality. All in all price, placement and size of the speaker I am pleased with the result. It should be noted that baffles were installed behind the speakers for enhancement.

My real complaint is that the speakers are not sold with a grill nor are any made available as an option. Since my old Jensen came with a grill, I was able to use them. It appears that Pioneer has a different application in mind for the speakers otherwise would have made a grill available.
