Features

IMPP Woofers: Each composite woofer is constructed from injection-molded polypropylene (IMPP). This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. Additionally the cones are lightweight and rigid for decreased distortion and superior bass response.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1-3/16" PEI (Polyetherimide) balanced dome tweeter for crisp, clear highs.

Mounting: The speaker basket has multiple mounting holes and is designed to fit a standard 3-hole 6-1/2" application, Ford's 4-hole 6-1/2" application, and a standard 4-hole 6-3/4" application. (When mounting in a 6-3/4 application, use a speaker baffle to seal the inner ring of screw holes.)

Q
How do the included Pioneer speaker grills attach to this speaker?
terry  Dec 01, 2014
1 answer
A
The speakers sound super for their size...very happy with that but I think I have one that the grille did not fit well...and it is bent up pretty bad...not good for a $30,000 street rod. The do not rattle however they mount...its been way too long ago to remember how they mount...sorry.

Q
do i need to put a crossover with this kind of spakers?

A
I used these with no crossover and worked just fine. I don't feel necessary with this level speaker. With a separate mid/tweeter then yes to filter the frequency or with a sub woofer then certainly.

Q
I bought 4 of these for my 2005 Colorado Crew cab. I connected the speakers one at a time to one front door just to make sure they worked, which they did, but they sounded very 'tinny' (I simply connected wires, I did not install them). My question: Will simply installing them in the door frame provide enough of a surround to bring out the bass, or do I need to purchase baffles for these speakers?
don  Jun 02, 2014

A
I installed them in the doors of my 2013 Silverado and it definitely brought out the bass. The door itself acts as an enclosure and it boosts the bass response. You will be pleased with the sound after installation.
roy  Jun 03, 2014
A
yes, a speaker has to have an enclosure behind them to sound full
donald  Jun 03, 2014
A
The doors will act like boxes for the speaker as long as you connect all the wires correctly using the wire adapters from crutchfield that should not be a problem the speakers will sound better then the factory ones
travis  Jun 03, 2014
A
I've found that these do not provide much in the way of midbass, they provide mostly highs. I'm really pleased with their sound considering the price, but if you want a stronger midbass I'd recommend something more expensive.
adam  Jun 03, 2014

Hi Don, I installed mine into the doors and they worked fine.. I did put in the baffles and it keeps the sound in the truck instead of reverb in the doors.
chris  Jun 03, 2014
Q
When you purchase this, does that purchase amount only cover one of the speakers?

If thats the 4 in speakers....it is for 2 of them....they have great sound....very pleased...they are in a lead sled and mounted next to each other in the orig speaker area....could not want a better sound for the money.
jimmy  May 27, 2014

Kyle the purchase price covered the purchase of both speakers, grills and shipping. I put them in the front doors of a 95 full size chevy van instead of trying to replace the speakers in the dash. They sound very good, but I am not the type to play a stero at full volume. for me they were a very good value...............Joe

Q
How does these speakers compare to the Sony XS-GT1638F? I ask because the Sony is rated just as well as the Pioneer, and the Sony actually has 3-way speakers..

Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget.

Q
do these speakers have good/ decent bass? Im getting a stereo with a built in 14- watt amplifier if this helps.

I installed these to replace factory speakers in all four doors of my car. Bass isn't booming but they'll handle a lot of bass. 250w is their max rating.
vincent  Apr 09, 2014
A
The amount of bass is the main reason I purchased these speakers for my pickup truck. The truck has very limited space for a subwoofer so I needed speakers that could reproduce a lot of bass for their size. These Pioneers do just that. They sound great.
roy  Jan 01, 2014

I am really pleased with these speakers...they are in a 49 chevy fleetline car. I have 2 of the 4 in in the orig grille in the dash together and the 6 in speakers in the rear. Everyone who has listened to my system are very impressed with the quality and sound...me included. For the money, they are a super buy. Hope this helps.
jimmy  Dec 31, 2013
A
if you set them for that then it would be moderate. I had tweet on top so I couldn't tell most of my bass was emiting from my 6x9's and 12in in the rear. I hope this helps. Oh the do sound like quality over my stock system.
