Overview

Our take on the Pioneer TS-G4641R

Pioneer's affordably-priced TS-G4641R 4"x6" speakers are tailor-made to take the place of low-performance factory-installed speakers. Beefy IMPP composite woofers cover the lows with ease, while film dome tweeters radiate crisp and clear highs that'll brighten up the sound in your car.

The hard-to-beat combination of great sound and excellent efficiency makes these speakers a great choice when you've had enough of the muffled highs and anemic lows of your ride's factory speakers. Grilles are not included. (Factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.)

great speaker

Written by: dah5096 from pittsburgh, pa on December 30, 2007

these fit perfect in my 2000 cavalier coupe, however, if you want decent bass you better get a few subs in the trunk. i already had plans to add subs in so i'm not worried about that.

A Significant Upgrade

Written by: Alaskan05 from Anchorage, AK on December 29, 2007

These speakers replaced the stock ones in my 1994 Chevy Silverado Ext. Cab, and what a difference! They sound great. While they may not be heavy on the bass, since 4x6 speakers are relatively small, they still sound great. Much better clarity and definition than the worn out, muffled 14 year old speakers. Would recommend, much better sound than the stock speakers. One word of caution: If replacing the rear pillar speakers on the truck is a goal, prepare for a long and tedious project, the speakers are almost impossible to get at as they are behind a large panel that is held in place by numerous clips as well as other panels. Other than that, these speakers are great.

I guess for the money they are a step up from factory, however, if you're looking for bigger gains replace the stereo and get better speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed a pair of the Pioneer TS-G4641R 4"x6" in the rear of my 2000 Chevy Stepside Silverado single cab about 6 weeks ago. It was an impovement from the original factory speakers but they are still 4"x6", so I really did not expect much. The Pioneer speakers handle power better. The Crutchfield connectors are very simple. I used Alpine SPS-17C2 6-1/2" in the doors, and a Bazooka amplified bass tube behind the seat. It all sounds great !

Barely an improvement from stock speakers

1997 Isuzu Rodeo
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace stock speakers in my Isuzu Rodeo. Unfortunately my Rodeo has only 4x6 size capabilities for the rear without modifying the truck or adding a box. I was very disappointed with the sound I got out of these. Granted at 50 bucks they're not the most expensive speakers out there but I figured at least to hear some improvement. I think barely an improvement is being generous. I even installed one at a time and played with the balance with all kinds of music to try to detect any improvement. Maybe its because these and most 4x6 speakers are typically used as fronts and these are for used for rears in my truck.
My stock speaker did not have a raised tweeter like you have in this 2 ways speaker so surprisingly the stock speakers produced more base. I should mention I am using it with a Kenwood EZ 700R deck. So in conclusion buck up for a better set.

Thanks

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just upgraded the factory speakers in my 1994 S-10 Blazer...what a difference! I am very pleased with the sound for only $50...and I am still using the factory radio & I don't plan to upgrade it either. The speakers aren't going to blow you away, but def much better than the factory speakers that were 13 years old.

Outstanding value, good sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced my 16 year old factory dash speakers with these. What an improvement. The highs are crisp and clean. Midrange presence is way better than the factory speakers There's even a little bit of bass, more than I expected from a 4x6 speaker. For my application it was necessary to install some plastic flanges (provided with the speakers) before they would fit. This requires dealing with some tiny screws and nuts and adds an extra 10 minutes or so of install time. The flanges could be better designed. That's my only complaint. The sound is great, they fit perfectly in place of the factory speakers in my 1990 Chevy truck, the price is very reasonable, and Crutchfield service was outstanding as always.

I replaced the factory 4x6's in my 91 s-10 with these pioneer 4x6's and it makes a huge difference in the sound quality. just one of these speakers alone sounds better than my entire factory system. for their size they pump a fair amount of bass, and produce excellent mids and highs.
Crutchfield gave me very simple instructions for installing them, and they went in well. you can't go wrong with these speakers for the money.

Better than stock

Written by: Anonymous from Ayer, MA on June 17, 2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These 4x6 two-way speakers are definitely better than stock on my 2000 Jeep wrangler. Unfortunately they are 4x6 and produce almost zero bass. The adaptor plates that I needed to use for my install were troublesome to assemble. Install tip: Trim the washers used to assemble the adaptor plates with a pair of sheet metal shears to make one side flat. This way you can actually get the screws in the holes without the adaptor frame distorting.

The mounting plates for the jeep application required some additional hardware (washers) to make the work with the adapter plates that came with the speakers.
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The only complain I have about the speakers is they were rather hard to install, for use in my Chevy's dash I had to install the included adapter plates. This was a rather tedious process involving very small {and easy to loose} hard where. When I installed the speakers in the vehicle only two of the three vehicle's bolt holes lined up with the speaker holes, but the speaker seem secure and don't rattle so I decided to just run them that way.
Speaker's sound great, no complaints there.
1995 Chevrolet K Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After replacing the door speakers in my 95 Chevy pickup w/Blaupunkt 5 1/4s, I was next looking to replace the speakers behind the seats. The Pioneers added the highs that were missing from the factory speakers, as well as raising the bar on the mid range. Really nice sound! The bass is about what you'd expect from a 4x6 speaker, I intend to add a powered sub sometime soon. The only reason these speakers got four stars instead of five was the install required some washers to cover the plates to secure them. The fit was a little small for the Chevy.

Replaced the factory 4x6s in a 2000 Chevy Silverado and what an improvement. Nice, clear mid-range & highs and pumps a fair amount of bass for a 4x6. Highly recommend for replacing factory spkrs.

Injection-molded Polypropylene (IMPP) Composite Woofers: Each composite woofer is constructed from injection-molded polypropylene. This process of cone molding assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. In addition, the cones are lightweight and rigid for decreased distortion and superior bass response.

Treated Cloth Surrounds: Each woofer uses a treated cloth surround for improved durability.

1-3/16" PEI Dome Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1-3/16" PEI (Polyetherimide) dome tweeter for crisp, clear highs.

Mounting: The speakers can be mounted in a metric 4"x6" opening, or, using the supplied adapter rings, mounted in a U.S. standard 4"x6" opening.
