Pros: Easy install, sound great, helluva deal.

The speakers were easy to place into manufacturer's harness. Crutchfield supplied the extra length bolts needed to secure the mesh screen and lock the speakers into the vehicle door.

Pros: The sound is great.

Cons: The speakers made me realize that I needed an HD receiver. Which I just purchased from Crutchfield.

Good Speakers / Value

2007 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are a good value and sound much better than the stock speakers they replaced in my F150. Paired them with new Kenwood DDX492 and a MTX sub. The system sounds great. The speakers were very easy to install and is a good fit for the F150. Only issue I had was the rear doors, speakers fit fine but the Ford factory screws had a built in washer head which was too large. Dremel tool with grinder bit took care of that.

Pros: Good sound considering the cost. Don't expect much low end bass out of these, but that is what a sub is for.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers they said fit my front speakers in my 95 Ford f150 xlt regular cab did not correctly match up. So I had to go to the store and get right size because I wanted the speakers in that day. But the back speakers and head unit all fit. Overall happy. Just have to return the other speakers. And you can't beat the free shipping and them giving right materials to install the stuff.

2005 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just bought a 2005 F-150 SuperCrew and one front and one rear speaker were blown. Decided to spend a little money and upgrade the whole system. Bought two sets of these and a JVC head unit and let me tell you, these are a great upgrade from factory. Very crisp sound when paired with a headunit putting out 22 watts RMS. Install was relatively easy, but for my front door panels I had to cut off a pair of extra mounting holes. Easy enough with a pair of dikes. Not sure how they would sound with a factory head unit but with the upgrade they sound very good. Decent mid range bass for a 50 dollar speaker and very good highs. Plan on pairing these with a JL w3 10 soon to compensate for the lack of low bass these provide. Would definately recommend spending the money.

Pros: Crisp Decent bass Good Highs

Cons:

Good upgrade for the price!

I didn't realize how poor my 21 year old speakers really were until I installed these. It has more base and is much more clear than my old ones. Although by today's standards they aren't ultra, mega premium, they are a nice and much needed improvement on my old speakers(Especially for the price).

Pros: Price, Ease of Installation, All the wiring needed was included, Packaging and Shipping, Drops right in(unboxed, removed the old ones and put the new ones in within 20 minuets)

Cons: None that I am aware of.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Switched out stock speakers out of Ford Freestyle. Could tell the difference almost immediately. As suggested, this change was made easy by the design of the speaker and the adapters included in the delivery. When I first started driving over 25 years ago, switched out speakers with Pioneer. Continue to be a quality product.

Pros: Quick and easy installation. Better sound than stock.

Cons:

I replaced my 2002 Tacoma speakers with these. After 5 minutes, I put the factory speakers back in. They are incredibly weak, and at 12 RMS and medium volume, they rattle. I worked at a stereo shop for 4 years, so I have some experience, and these are some of the worst speakers I've ever heard. You get what you pay for.

I kept the old speakers in for a while before I tackled installing the new ones. What a difference new speakers make! My car is an 01 Mercury Grand Marquis. The original speakers seemed to sound fine. After putting the new ones in, I realize the old ones were crap. Wow!

Pros: Awesome sound, great fit!

Cons: Ugh. The difficulty installing speakers is not the speakers' fault. I'm just too old to crawl around in the back of the car like that.

Great speakers. They sound much better than my old whipped out stock speakers, and they were VERY cost effective. I have a 95 dodge dakota, and the installation wasn't perfect. They didn't quite fit the stock mount right, but I got around it. Otherwise, great for what they are, a cheap way to freshen up your system, and get better than stock sound.

Pros: Very cost effective. Good sound, better than stock

Cons: Didn't quite fit my application perfectly. No huge deal, but they are advertised as a direct replacement, and I had to fab a little.

J from Jasper, AL on 8/24/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in an '04 F150. The included speaker wire adapters were an easy plug and play, providing the needed slack I surely would have needed if I'd had to cut and splice. This alone was worth ordering from Crutchfield versus the minimal savings I had found at a local retailer. Installation of these speakers were easy, requiring me to bend only one accessory tab (by hand or pliers) out of the way. Its a simple bolt-in, 10 minute job using the factory screws. These speakers sound great even with the minimal tone adjustment available with the factory head unit. Nice bass, mids and highs. I am very pleased. Update: A couple of weeks after the initial install, I installed a sub and amp. As good as these speakers sounded before, they sound even better now. I highly recommend these speakers!

Pros: Price, ease of installation, sound great and included speaker wire adapters to boot.

Cons: None!

DanF from Las Vegas, NV on 6/8/2014

1993 Ford Explorer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers and the wiring harness provided free from Crutchfield.com worked perfectly on my application. I didn't want the top of the line speakers, just something to replace the ones that had seen better days. The speakers fit right in the holes, it came with all the necessary hardware.

Pros: Went in easy, and wiring was a snap. The sound quality was better than the old speakers which had been completely destroyed by all the years in the heat out here in the desert Southwest. The price was what I was looking for, something not over one hundred dollars, but a good quality product. I had help from the Crutchfield specialist when it was hard to choose the product. The specialist provided some speakers that would work for my vehicle on Crutchfield.com website.

Cons: No cons, worked perfectly and functioned properly.

Completely satisfied with these speakers. A Crutchfield rep recommended these speakers for my rear doors on my Focus, and Pioneer three ways for the front. He knew I didn't want to spend a lot of money and that I already had an eight inch bazooka tube. He was right. For the price I paid, I don't think I could be happier. They sound very good. Much better than my factory speakers which I though sounded good, until I powered these up.

Cons: Nothing really, I just always feel like speakers can do better.

Used these as replacements for all four locations in my Escape. Decent bass for the listening I do, and much clearer highs than the stock speakers. after breaking one of the adapters and having to epoxy it back together I figured out that not using the factory screws with built in washers was the way to go.

Pros: decent sound for the money. Sound stage even seems to have been raised somewhat.

Good quality speakers for the price. Direct fit easy to replace, everything you need included for a low price. Quick free shipment.

Pros: Easy direct fit installation on the 1995 Ford Windstar. Crutchfield even threw in the speaker plug adapter for free so no wire cutting was required. Speakers sound great and can handle extra power if the radio is upgraded at a later time.

Cons: 1995 Ford Windstar with the 1995 version of a premium stereo. Original speakers were matched to the low power stereo so the produced the lowest tones better than the new speakers since the stereo does not have enough power to properly drive the new speakers. Then again you don't have to worry about blowing up the new speakers like the old ones did.....

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

They're okay speakers for the money - while they lasted. However, the plastic ring around the rim of the body of the actual speaker has a knack of coming off and rattling. EXTREMELY annoying. My first set I had replaced free of charge through here, and I was warned not to push it too hard for the first few weeks of use. Okay, fair enough. I followed that advice, but the plastic rings still came off after 2 weeks of light use and 3 weeks of medium - heavy use. Shortly after one of them blew at 3/4 volume. I'm not sure if I'm just over working these speakers, or if they're just crap. Note: I'm not running an amp to my speakers, just directly to my Pioneer head unit. I do run a separate amp and sub.

Pros: They sound good when they're not vibrating themselves apart

Cons: They tend to vibrate themselves apart.

I bought these speakers to replace the stock speakers in my 2005 Lincoln LS. I had managed to blow out a couple of them. The car has 12 speakers and I started with two of these for the front doors. Shipping was real fast. I received the speakers 3 days after ordering them. They were packed very well and arrived in perfect condition. They fit perfectly in my car and the speaker wire adapter supplied by Crutchfield made the wire connections real easy. I made the switch using the directions (also supplied by Crutchfield) in about 20 minutes. They sound great - much better than stock even before I blew them out. I have already ordered 2 more of the same for the back doors. .

Pros: Price was right, Fast shipping, Perfect fit, Good instructions, Good sound

Cons: None at this point. I am happy with my purchase

10x better than stock speakers

Fred A from Azle, Tx on 7/11/2013

For the price they are great. For now they are paired with my stock head unit and rear speakers so whenever I turn the volume to full blast they distort. Surly this is the head-units fault because it is rated at 7 watts max per channel. Anyways the bass is good, much better than I expected. I will buy a head-unit from pioneer soon because of the speakers quality.

My blown factory speakers in '95 Ford Windstar sounded better. Very "tinny" sound with no bass. I also ordered some 5-1/4" JBL speakers that were cheaper and sounded WAY better. I did not use with a crossover, but if you are spending the money to do things right with a crossover, spend a little more and get good speakers.

Pros: None.

Cons: Terrible sound. Can get better speakers for less money. Don't consider unless using a crossover and subwoofer.

JohnieR from Central Texas on 4/30/2013

2005 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So, just for kicks, I hooked these up and played them full range without a crossover and with my sub off. In that application, the factory speakers in my F150 actually sound better, as these are really weak on bass. However, as a mid/high speaker, these are definitely worth the price. I crossed mine at 140 hz, but you will probably want to cross them over no lower than 100 hz. I crossed mine over at 140 because my sub is only a 150 watt 10", and my door speakers are driven by a 16 wpc Sony head unit (also from Crutchfield). With the bass handled by the sub, these sound very, very good for a coax speaker. Do they rival a component system, of course not, but try finding a component speaker system for this price. Super easy to hook up with the included Ford wiring adapters. My five-star rating takes into account the price tag.

Pros: Great mids and highs for a budget speaker. Nice clarity when subs do the heavy lifting.

Cons: The bass is weak so they are not great for factory replacement without subs.

Installation was easy and the most difficult part was getting to the speakers and still not bad. They sound good when listening to Hard Rock, clean and nice bass. After breaking them in for a couple of weeks, my commute is only 15 minutes each way to work., I turned them up loud and there was a little bit of distortion at the highest volume level, but could be the factory radio and I don't listen to the music that loud anyway. A decent amp would help these speakers out though.

Pros:

Cons:

PIONEER coaxial speakers

TomTomE from Charleston, SC on 2/23/2013

Far and away much better sound than the factory paper-cone door speakers in my 2003 Miata MX-5. More bass, handles full volume with the factory SANYO head unit. I've noticed some reviewers for these speakers say they are getting less bass than their old speakers. *TIP... Whenever there is more than one speaker, polarity becomes very important. All speakers have a positive (+) and a negative (-) connection. If you accidentally reverse these on one of your two speakers then one cone moved in the opposite direction the other does in effect taking back the bass produced by the other one. A bass "cancellation" if you will. One cone moves outward while the other moved inward, working against one another. This can be easily detected by ear. With balance in the middle, position your head directly between the two speakers (equidistant from both). If you hear flattened bass turn the balance to one or the other so only one plays. If your bass comes back then one is wired "out of phase" with respect to the other. Just reverse the wires one. When you have four speakers both the rears or just one can also be out of phase with the fronts. Installing them correctly I'm sure you will be pleased with the results the Pioneer's provide.

Pros: Relatively low cost. Non-paper cones. Non-Foam surround material for long lasting durability.

Cons: Do not include cover grills.

I finally got the front two spaekresto fit by removing the plastic modled frame that said "Custom fit for Ford/Mazda", but busted one of the rear one trying to get it to fit, so i ended up throwing away the busted one and the other good one because of the hassle (took about 4 hours of messing around with them...) and the lack of bass. don't waste your money unless you absolutely have to replace your old speakers.

The speakers themselves sound great, better bass response than the $110 Infinity 6x8's installed in the front doors. Sound Quality is Good!

David from Sebastian, FL on 7/7/2012

I actually bought these speakers because when I listened to a bunch, I thought that had really good sounding mids, plus an all around good sound. They were cheap as well. I installed them in the back doors of my ranger with the baffles, some dynamat, and a little acoustic foam in a key spot inside the door. The speakers were a pain to install because the frames bend very easily. I found that the only way to avoid bending them is to carefully tighten all of the bolts evenly and slowly. One of the plastic rims came off also. I had to super-glue it back on. After that hassle, I finally got them tightened down and the doors plastics put back on. I was very surprised with a solid sound. These speakers don't drop very low, but I have a sub, that why I don't care how low they drop. I was actually able to lower my crossover point a little on the sub and speakers due to the upgrade, which I was really hoping for! The speakers are really solid to around 60 Hz where the sub picks up. I got the cheap ones because I won't hear the back speakers much anyway, but I am pleasantly surprised. Very clean, and warm sound. After I got all the bugs worked out, these speakers are great! I highly recommend the baffles and some dynamat. I tried with and without and I chose with.

Pros: Good sound quality for the price as long as they are installed properly. Warm and clean sounding. Look stylish.

Cons: Frames are not sturdy enough. One of them broke when installing.

Sound great compared to 12 year old OEM speakers . . . Installation was easy . . . Ford has made door panel removal simple . . . the Crutchfield supplied wiring adapter saved hours on installation. the Pioneer supplied wires would have required cutting wires and re-connecting with possible soldering . . . Crutchfield's adapters were "plug and play"!

Pros: Easy installation with the Crutchfield supplied wires . . . an excellent replacement speaker for a standard car stereo setup. . . quick shipment; the speakers arrived before my credit card was charged!

Cons: none

Great sounding speakers. My stock speakers were worn out. Music sounds great. Gave it 4 stars only because the highs are not as crisp as they could be. other than that sounds great.

Pros: Handles Base fine

Cons: High notes not as crisp as I would like.

Pioneer Speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers fit the rear panels of my 1990 Bronco II perfectly, and sound is great! The old "Premium Sound System" that was in the vehicle didn't work at all, and the radio was an old cassette player type, so I decided to replace/bypass the whole system with new stuff. The Crutchfield people were extremely helpful in picking the right speakers, both these for the back and the door speakers. A true audiophile might not be as happy with these speakers as I am, but they work just fine for me!

Pros: Fit in place of the stock speakers perfectly.

Cons: None i'm aware of.

AN EXCELLENT INEXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT OVER FORD'S REAR DECK STOCK SPEAKERS USING THE OEM HEAD UNIT. THE BASS WON'T BLOW YOUR WINDOWS OUT, HOWEVER THEY PRODUCE A DEEPER/PUNCHIER BASS, A MORE DEFINED MIDRANGE & A CRISPER/CLEARER HIGH END!!!

Pros: EASY TO INSTALL, REASONABLY PRICED,TREATED CLOTH SPEAKER SURROUNDS WHICH LAST A VERY LONG TIME, GOOD EFFICIENCY & A NOTICEABLE SOUND IMPROVEMENT OVER STOCK!!!

Cons: NONE FOR THIS INSTALLATION!!!

You get what you pay for.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are crap. They work like they are supposed to. They don't sound much better than stock speakers (if at all). I was expecting more... I went cheap and in this case I got what I paid for. On the other hand though. Crutchfield did an excellent job getting these to me promptly. Very fast shipping! I was pleasantly surpised to see the wiring schematic, and jumper wires included (all for free!). I'll be a return customer.

Pros: They make sound. Barely better than stock???

Cons: Poor sound reproduction. Can't handle any bass.

Good choice

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these as a replacement for my stock speakers in my 2000 Ford Mustang. Installation of the Speakers were a breeze after I got the door panels off. They put out some good, clear sound. Nothing spectacular for the bass right of the bat of course. Should either get components or subs if you need alot of "boom". This being said, after installation of my aftermarket head unit I can tamper with the settings and make these things produce some nice bass. Crisp all around though.

Pros: Easy to install. Clear crisp sound that handles high volume well. Tight bass with amp or custom headunit.

Cons: If you want to make your local police department angry you will probably need a subwoofer. Cheerio!

Glad you asked. I purchased these for my sons 1st truck, a standard cab '02 Ranger. We replaced fhe head unit from a factory am/fm only to great Pioneer deck. We first bought these then he wanted more so we added kickers right behind seat. The ones in his truck sound amazing. They handle bass well for what he listens to. He listens to country and rock. Theyay not handle bass demands of rap. He is happy. If you can go bigger like 6x9 go for it. Best thing is crutchfield stands behind everything. [ FRED W  Aug 10, 2014 ]
It was a year ago when I bought these, but from what I remember, yes. They come with covers, but I did not use them. They went in place of the factory speakers in my truck. Sorry for getting back to you so late. Been real busy. [ JOHN A  Jul 14, 2014 ]
Maribeth, I have found almost all do not have covers as the utilize the factory grills. These were bought for my son's first pickup and they sound great. Hope this helps Fred [ FRED W  Jul 13, 2014 ]
I don't believe there were. they were installed in a car we no longer have. sorry I could not be of more help. [ LYLE  Jul 11, 2014 ]
Hi there is no covers with speakers they will go in place where old vehicle speakers are behind doors. There should be a cover on your door that is built in. You have to tak door apart and unscrew 2-3 screws on old speaker and pull the two wires off connections. Then match the new speaker screw holes up with existing screws and put the two wires back on.
