A shallow-mount sub that rocks

Pioneer's TS Series of shallow-mount subs bring great bass to vehicles where conventional subs won't fit. Their low profile allows the use of slender enclosures that'll fit behind a truck seat or in any tight space while delivering the bass performance you need. The TS-SW2502S4 10" shallow-mount sub handles up to 300 watts RMS with a mounting depth of just 3-1/8".

The TS-SW2502S4 features an oversized cone made of mica-injected molded resin that moves more air and delivers accurate bass. The sub works best in a small sealed enclosure, making it ideal for fitting those tight spaces in today's smaller vehicles. Pioneer recommends the UD-SW250D downfiring enclosure or the UD-SW250T truck-style enclosure (sold separately) for use with this sub.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 260 and 525 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?

A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

Seems worth the money

Definitely worth the money, ease of use is a hassle, the sub does not fit into a normal enclosure, you will need to grind or cut your box slightly to get these to fit flush. Otherwise they sound great bought two replacing clarion with these. I have more range and depth in my system now and they are far from being broken in. I recommend these 100% if you don't have a problem with pulling your box and shaving it some. Or if you have an installer it will take him/her 20 minutes from removal to back rolling again.

Pros: Deep rich bass usually found in a much higher end sub.

Cons: Will not fit a conventional box. Alterations WILL be needed. Definitely not plug and play.

My son got one of the as a gift and it lasted about 3 months. So I called Crutchfield's customer support and they decided with the setup he has this was the best sub for him. It sounds great with the pioneer amp he has connected to it. Hopefully it will last longer than the last one he had.

Pros: Fits in small area.

Cons: Possibly build quality (if this one doesn't last either).

Better than p3

Sub sounds really good, good hard hitting bass. Had it on a 5 channel excelon amp, really did well until it froze up, the installer told me it was because of distortion , so now I have a excelon 600x1 on a p3. Waiting on my pioneer replacement, runs circles around the p3

Pros: Good Bang for your buck

Cons:

Amazing first time sub. Puts real sound quality to your music. But if you are looking for a hardcore system there is better ones out there.

Pros: Really small and compact. Great sound quality. Easy to install

Cons: Doesn't hit as hard as a 12 inch.

I Bought the old version of this sub over a year ago for my single cab s10. This sub will be more than enough for genre's like rock, country,rap/hip hop, electronic and more. This sub hits hard and will shake my whole truck without distorting.

Pros: Shallow mount can fit in almost any vehicle with a custom box, great sound, great price, versatility.

Cons: This sub is power thirsty, you will need a good amp to power it.

Features

Shallow Mount Woofer: Pioneer's Shallow-Mount subwoofers are designed to provide installation options for a broad range of vehicles. They can be mounted behind or under the seats of many vehicles. The TS-SW2502S4 has a Mica reinforced IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) composite cone. The process of bonding reinforced pulp to the back of the cone improves its damping capability and eliminates excess vibration. The oversized cone structure provides more surface area without changing the external dimensions, producing louder and deeper bass by moving more air.

Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.35 ft³ to 0.7 ft³; within this range the ideal size is 0.6 ft³.

Vented Box Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.5ft³ to 0.7 ft³; within this range the ideal size is 0.6 ft³ with a single 3" diameter x 13" long port.

Bandpass Box Volume: The bandpass box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.35 ft³ per chamber to 0.6 ft³ per chamber; within this range the ideal size is 0.45 ft³ per chamber. One 3" diameter x 4.5" long port should be used in an enclosure with 0.45 ft³ chambers.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Krissy  Oct 13, 2015 ]  Staff
You should only wire your subs in parallel they are each 4 ohms that will drop the to 2 ohms and you will get the most out of your amp. Parallel is positive to positive negative to negative [ Pioneertech  Oct 23, 2014 ]
I always suggest that you run the power and RCAS on separate sides of the car and keep the turn on wire with the power wire [ GARRETT  Jul 21, 2014 ]
