About the Pioneer TS-SW2502S4

Bob Bihlmayer

A shallow-mount sub that rocks

Pioneer's TS Series of shallow-mount subs bring great bass to vehicles where conventional subs won't fit. Their low profile allows the use of slender enclosures that'll fit behind a truck seat or in any tight space while delivering the bass performance you need. The TS-SW2502S4 10" shallow-mount sub handles up to 300 watts RMS with a mounting depth of just 3-1/8".

The TS-SW2502S4 features an oversized cone made of mica-injected molded resin that moves more air and delivers accurate bass. The sub works best in a small sealed enclosure, making it ideal for fitting those tight spaces in today's smaller vehicles. Pioneer recommends the UD-SW250D downfiring enclosure or the UD-SW250T truck-style enclosure (sold separately) for use with this sub.

Features

Shallow Mount Woofer: Pioneer's Shallow-Mount subwoofers are designed to provide installation options for a broad range of vehicles. They can be mounted behind or under the seats of many vehicles. The TS-SW2502S4 has a Mica reinforced IMPP (Injection Molded Polypropylene) composite cone. The process of bonding reinforced pulp to the back of the cone improves its damping capability and eliminates excess vibration. The oversized cone structure provides more surface area without changing the external dimensions, producing louder and deeper bass by moving more air.

Terminals: The spring post terminals will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.35 ft³ to 0.7 ft³; within this range the ideal size is 0.6 ft³.

Vented Box Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.5ft³ to 0.7 ft³; within this range the ideal size is 0.6 ft³ with a single 3" diameter x 13" long port.

Bandpass Box Volume: The bandpass box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.35 ft³ per chamber to 0.6 ft³ per chamber; within this range the ideal size is 0.45 ft³ per chamber. One 3" diameter x 4.5" long port should be used in an enclosure with 0.45 ft³ chambers.

I'm not sure? I purchased that sub for a down fire box so I wasn't going to need a grill.

Q
Has anyone used shallow subs with an epicenter? Do they sound good?
jose  Jul 30, 2016

A
AudioControl's Epicenter bass processor maximizes the low-frequency power and punch of your bass system, regardless of whether its paired with a shallow mount or full-size subwoofer. I would expect the bass to sound better with any sub used in conjunction with the Epicenter. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Q
I have 2 Pioneer ts-sw2502s4 that are in separate sealed Pioneer boxes and will be powered by a kenwwood kac-501ps mono amp. What would be the best way to wire this amp and subs to get the most clean powerful bass?
trotter5  Jul 18, 2014

A
You should only wire your subs in parallel they are each 4 ohms that will drop the to 2 ohms and you will get the most out of your amp. Parallel is positive to positive negative to negative
pioneertech  Oct 23, 2014
A
I always suggest that you run the power and RCAS on separate sides of the car and keep the turn on wire with the power wire
