Pioneer offers a great way to get exceptional bass in tight quarters. These shallow-mount TS Series subs feature a low profile, so you can put them in extremely thin boxes. They'll fit easily behind most truck bench seats while thumping just as hard as conventional subs.

Pioneer's Air Suspension Control System locks in air between the main cone and the internal drive cone, causing it to act like a spring. This eliminates the need for a spider structure, reducing the depth of the sub without sacrificing sound quality. The result is punch that goes just about anywhere.

The TS-SW3001S4 12" shallow-mount sub presents a 4-ohm load and handles up to 400 watts RMS. Pioneer reinforces the injection-molded polypropylene cone with basalt and carbon fiber for rigidity and responsiveness. The 3-layer surround sandwiches a layer of fiber between two layers of urethane to keep your bass under control. Pair this sub with a special low-profile enclosure from Pioneer to get the most out of this slender powerhouse.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?

A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

I purchased two of these subs for my dodge ram 2500 standard cab truck. There is literally no space behind the seats of that truck, with those subs and shallow mount boxes I lose no leg room. I paired these subs with a JBL 700 watt amp and they sounds amazing. Clean deep bass, I have nothing bad to say about these subs. They handle anything i throw at them.

Pros: Clean Bass, Very Shallow, handles deep bass

Cons: wasnt free

Shallow Mount Woofer: Pioneer's "Shallow-Mount" subwoofers are designed to provide wider installation options for a broad range of vehicles. They can be mounted behind or under the seats of many vehicles. Although they have a compact design, these woofers still deliver the same big-bass performance of a full-size subwoofer.

Double Cone: The subwoofer features an interlaced Basalt/Carbon Fiber reinforced IMPP (injection molded polypropylene) double-cone woofer. The volcanic-rock fibers create a cone that is lightweight, rigid, well damped, stable in temperature extremes, and more environmentally friendly.

Surround: The double cones use a dual three-layer, fiber-woven, "M"-shaped radial surround to attach to the basket and form the Air Suspension System. This design keeps the voice coil centered, even under high power, for clear and powerful bass.

Air Suspension System: Typical subwoofers use a spider to control the woofer cone's excursion. The Air Suspension System, formed by creating a sealed air space between the double cones, effectively replaces the spider, providing superior design and performance characteristics. It provides excellent linearity and clear bass with low distortion.

Voice Coil: The TS-SW3001S4 has a 3" aluminum, 6-layer long voice coil wound onto a Phenol Resin Coated Glass Cloth bobbin. This design higher efficiency and sensitivity than conventional designs to provide powerful, tight bass.

Magnet: The woofer has a high-power strontium magnet.

Basket: The woofer has a one-piece, die-cast aluminum basket. The basket utilizes its rigid spokes to hold the top and bottom sides of the motor structure securely, effectively minimizing any undesired output loss.

Pole Yoke Design: The woofer's vented and projected pole yoke design allows for better heat dissipation, increased power handling and greatly improved linearity during large excursions by expanding the magnetic field.

Recommended Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.5 to 1.0 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Pioneer is 0.65 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield.

Vented Box Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 0.65 to 1.0 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Pioneer is 0.8 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. One 3" diameter x 10.5" long port should be used with the 0.8 cu/ft enclosure.

Single Reflex Bandpass Volume: The bandpass box sizes recommended by Pioneer range from 1.0 to 1.6 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Pioneer is 1.2 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. The 1.2 cu/ft enclosure should have a sealed chamber volume of 0.6 cu/ft and a vented chamber volume of 0.6 cu/ft. One 3" diameter x 6" long port should be used with a 1.2 cu/ft enclosure.
