Pioneer in my Wife's Subaru

2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I paired these up with 4 Pioneer TS-A1676R speakers in my Wife's XV. I mounted them on top of the dash for ease of installation and to keep from loosing any sound quality down inside the existing speaker wells. They blend in nicely with the other Pioneer speakers giving crystal clear highs and a nice balance low to high all through the vehicle. These paired with the other Pioneers improved the factory stereo sound many times over. I did have to create my own adapter cable as there is not one available for this Subaru.

Pros: Crystal clear highs

Cons: No adapter cable available for Subaru installations Need to fabricate mounting hardware to use in original dash locations

Haven't installed them yet, but a little concerned about the install due to the difference in size and mounting hardware.

Pros: nothing yet, not yet installed

Cons: can't make a call, not yet installed yet

No complaints!

They were easy to install. Looks and feels sturdy. I liked the fact that they gave you a long lead wire; that was especially helpful when installing it on my car doors. Sounds great, the price was reasonable. I have no complaints!

Pros: Sturdy product, easy to install.

Cons: The metal cup-like disk they provide for a surface mount requires a longer screw than what's in the kit. Fortunately, I had longer screws in my garage, so it wasn't an issue.

Replaced dash tweeters in 08 Tundra double cab. Hooked up to stock head unit. Much, much better than factory. Just gutted stock tweeters for the mounts, glued new mounts into old mounts using 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive, screwed back into place when dry. Soldered stock connectors on.

Pros: Fit perfectly, sounds great.

Cons: If you aren't willing to cut and glue, have some else do the install.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wasn't sure if I was going to be Happy with these 7/8" tweeter speakers. But surprise ,surprise.. Their OK. They do have some nice sound to them. These speakers do work well with the 6 1/2 Pioneers in my front doors and the 6' x 9' JVC speakers mounted on my rear deck. Also installed Dynamat under all my speakers. which improves the sounds coming out of my speakers by getting rid of unwanted speaker/mount vibrations. All my speakers are behind a Kenwood Excelon CD/USB Reciever.

Pros: Nice Sound from these little speakers. The little speakers went in quick. With a little help from a ABS GridPlate. these 7/8" tweeters complament the sound of my door speakers.

Cons: Instructions did not say anything about the in line capacitor. Found that out in a round about fashion.

Excellent Sound Staging Tweeter

Written by: Ken from United States on October 7, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these Tweeters in early August and just got them installed the first week of October. Reason being I was also considering adding a Sound Ordnance Amplifier (M-4075) and Component Speakers (P-65C in the rear shelf sub cut outs) to the factory system in my 2002 Jaguar X-Type. I had already replaced the four factory door speakers last December within Massive Audio (6.5 SX 6 and VX 6) Co-Axial's which I am very pleased with. I decided that I didn't want to incur any greater expense on the system because there were auto performance related upgrades that were more important to me and my budget. I made the right decision. These tweeters have turned my system loose by giving me the sound stage and imaging I was missing. One of my best purchases in my 20+ years of dealing with Crutchfield. The TS-T110 compliment the Massive Audio speakers perfectly and breathe new life into my iSimple TranzIt IS77 and Disc Player.

Pros: Excellent Sound Stage Imaging and Power Handling

Cons: NONE

Great replacement tweeters

Written by: Oscar from Dublin,ca on February 13, 2012

I used these pair of tweeters to replace the factory tweeters on a Honda Odyssey (2007). The minivan's tweeters are located on the dash and they come off very easily. I did not have to cut any holes or do anything special to the van, the new tweeters came with a base that was the correct size for the minivan's tweeter holes, I just snapped them in. They work great and are far superior to the cheap factory tweeters.

comes with

Pros: Right size, very inexpensive and provide a much superior sound than the factory speakers.

Cons: There are no adapters to be able to use the factory speaker plug, so I had to cut the factory wires and cable the tweeters cables together by using a wire nut connector.. A minor inconvenience.

I upgraded the stock tweeters (2" paper cones) in my 2010 Frontier with these and WOW what a difference! The sound stage really opened up. outcome..looks like it belongs there

Noticeable Sound Difference

Written by: Dallin from Utah on January 11, 2011

These tweeters are a no brainer to purchase. You can instantly tell a difference in your high's. It makes your systems set up sound that much better. They can go pretty loud too! I'm a high schooler so I'm always blasting music. Very good product, especially for the price.

Awesome and Inexpensive!

Written by: MoonLeyet from Hollywood on June 15, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Who says you need to spend that extra buck for external crossovers. These inline crossover tweeters are a perfect match for any 2way or 3way front door speaker. I was afraid at first that these tweeters would be loud and harsh, like some higher end component set tweeters i've bought in the past, but these tweeters do not bleed the ears and they do not sizzle with distortion... just CLEAN imaging.

Crutchfield advisors were swift in recommending these and I was swift in purchasing them. Awesome!!

System: Pioneer DEH3200; Pioneer 6x9 3way in rear, Pioneer 6 1/2 3way in front doors.

Perfect for Expedition

Written by: JackBP from Newark, DE on June 24, 2009

Loved these tweeters. Pair was added last June to front stage of 98 Expedition. Helped immeasurably with the location and clarity of the present two way system. The internal "tweeter" of the two way door system had been removed, and these units added to make the system an actual two-way system. To balance out the system an attenuator was added to each door system to eliminate any excessive brightness of the units. Matching them properly within the Two-Way System

Great tweeters for the price.

Written by: Steve from New Jersey on May 19, 2008

I got these tweeters for 2 reasons, one being my front speakers which are
Pioneer 3-way 6x8" lacked some highs and for sound staging.
This tweeter took me by surprised on how crisp and sharp the highs sound
without making your ears bleed like some other tweeters. They really
brighten up the clarity if your speakers lack adequate amount of highs. I
mounted these in the sail panel and they also bring up the "stage" if your
main speakers are mounted low in the door which in my case they are.
Mounting them takes a little work but these tweeters are easier to install
due to them not having a big external crossover box.
All in all, these are great tweeters for those who want best value for the
buck.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put a pair of these in my Honda Accord and they sound great!!! My car is a '91 so it doesn't have stock tweeters, so I ran them to my 6x9's (I was too lazy to take off my door panels). But for the price, they perform just as good as or better than any I've ever heard.

Good Solid Tweeters

Written by: Dave from from Houston, Texas on April 11, 2007

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had a pair of these bought from Crutchfield in prior car of mine. The hardest part was making the hand made mounts out of aluminum so they would be behind the side mirrors on the inside of the car.

Wiring, simple.

These worked and sounded great with the factory head unit and speakers in my old 2002 Mazda 626.

Cons:

Outstanding!

Written by: robert from Phoenix, AZ on December 8, 2006

Bought these tweeters for my Ford F150 Supercrew. Left the stock head unit and it made the system come alive. I also installed an Audiobahn Powered sub under the back seat and the system sounds fantastic. I highly recommend these speakers. I've never heard such clean highs. I flush mounted he speakers in the door panels and they look like a factory installation.

Cons:

Best Value

Written by: John from Los Angeles, CA on May 26, 2006

Like most long-time(20+ years) Crutchfield customers,I do much research before any purchase. With the use of the info supplied(here at this site), I was able to make an informed decision and/or purchase.

I purchased these to add some highs to my existing system. With the exception of the Infinity Kappa 6x9s in the rear shelf, the rest of the speakers were factory/stock.

Man, they sound great. The high freq. is crystal clear. In fact, I found these Pioneers to reproduce highs as good(if not better) as the Kappas I have in the rear.

These tweeters are an excellent value. A SOLID 4 Stars. If it were possible, I would have given these Pioneers a 4.5 Stars.

Pros:

Cons:

Nothing "ultimate" but adequate

Written by: Eddie from Seoul, Korea (U.S. Army Garrison) on May 22, 2006

They are a definite improvement over the factory dash speakers, of course, but I get more crisp highs out of my 2-Way, 6.5" Polk door speakers than these; however with their sound combined I am pretty much satisfied. They do as much as they are expected for the price, so I'm not complaining.

I'd recommend a set of these for those who simply want to rid the staticky factory dash speakers. It will definitely clear it up. For those who want the ultimate sound system, you'll have to spend at least twice the money.

Features

Tweeter Materials: The tweeter has a PPTA dome diaphragm, and it's fluid-cooled for high power handling. PPTA is a poly material that's among the lightest and most responsive speaker materials developed. PPTA has high inner loss characteristics, which results in effective resonance damping. This material provides performance similar to metal diaphragm materials, but without the harshness often associated with metal diaphragms. The result is detailed, dynamic sound reproduction.

Metal Grilles: Each tweeter has a non-removable metal mesh grille attached.

Two Mounting Options: The tweeters may be surface or flush mounted. The tweeters do not swivel when flush or surface mounted.

Tweeter Mounting Dimensions:

  Surface Mount Flush Mount
Mounting Height 0.840" 0.419"

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

Have always used Pioneer equipment and find it suits my taste in sound quality. [ Lester  Dec 18, 2015 ]
it fit my truck [ Eduardo  Dec 08, 2015 ]

3 questions already asked

I bought these two years ago and put them in a jeep grand Cherokee were the front speakers are also low. It was an easy install and I think they sound good. These aren't the top speakers out there but I have always liked pioneers stuff and they have helped a lot with the higher ends of the music. I had problems hearing the voice and treble before until I installed these tweeters. So that being said I really like these tweeters and they have really helped in my jeep. [ BRIAN  May 14, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: We do not carry any separate tweeters that will fit into your vehicle. We certainly have some component speakers (separate woofer and tweeter) that will fit your front door. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Jan 03, 2015 ]  Staff
I purchased the tweeter for my project audio system in Philippines. One thing I can tell, they sound great! Sorry, I can not answer your question about mounting the tweeter to replace your original. [ ALDEN P  Jan 10, 2015 ]
I was not able to mount them under my trucks stock grills so I just took everything out and mounted the pioneer tweeters in their place, looks good. [ JOHN R  Dec 17, 2014 ]
Yes I did. I used glue from the auto store, two tubes you mix together which forms a solid apoxy once it dries. I also used a dremel to scuff the smooth surface of the plastic factory housing for the glue to stick to. The tweeters are still attached and sound great! [ CHAD M  Dec 17, 2014 ]
