Our take on the Pioneer TS-W254R

Pioneer's Champion Series subs give you impressive performance without breaking your bank account. The TS-W254R 10" subwoofer sports a rugged cone made from injection-molded polypropylene for rigidity without added heft. The sub's seamless cone design increases efficiency and reduces distortion, while its treated foam surround helps keep the cone under control so this sub sounds great in either sealed or ported enclosures.

Pioneer's Champion Series subs give you impressive performance without breaking your bank account. The sub's seamless cone design increases efficiency and reduces distortion, while its treated foam surround helps keep the cone under control so this sub sounds great in either sealed or ported enclosures.

A tough 6-layer voice coil allows the TS-W254R to handle up to 250 watts RMS. The stamped basket features a magnet cover for added protection, while extra venting helps to cool the sub's interior to protect against thermal breakdown. This sub's classic look will fit right in with any vehicle.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 200 and 375 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

STR8 HIitting!

J The Bassman from California on 9/30/2015

These subs hit hard! When I first purchased the I was skeptical because quality wise they feel pretty cheap... but to my surprise they sound really great. I have them in a custom birch octo-ported box 3 net tuned to 36hz, powered by a soundstream stl1.600d @2ohm. When I finally finished my install in my '99 Audi A4 I noticed that the bass is waaaay deeper when the windows are rolled down. If your doing a budget build I highly recommend these subs, but, make sure you get the right box. Also I would strongly Not suggest that you throw 1100 watts as they so boastfully claim... unless you want them to detonate. lol

Pros: Sound fantastic in the right box, the carbon fiber look cone is a nice addition to the cosmetic look.

Cons: Initial impression was they felt cheaply built. The 1100 watt claim...Negative!!

great product!

Great Subwoofer

allenbrad from new market, ohio on 9/17/2014

i have two of these subs in my single cab truck and they are the hardest hitting 10" i have heard out of a shallow mount. Do not port your boxes though! i had them sealed and it gave a way deeper bass before and i ported them and its not as deep. keep sealed they are better. the one sub has almost 180 hours and is still bumping strong

Pros: great sound, lasts

Cons:

Awseome

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good setup. Simple yet powerful. Cant complain for price and quality. Shipping needs attention. Box was literally destroyed and pieces were "loose" inside. Not the way I expected to get my electronics...not Crutch's complete fault but please add another later or details and secure the items better.

Pros: Great sound for price, matched what I could afford and sounds the way I wanted.

Cons: Packaging...

awesome subwoofer

drew from Turner, ME on 9/6/2012

This woofer is awesome. iv had mine now for almost a year and im powering off a 800 watt amp, and it hasn't skipped a beat once. For the price of it, it is a great sub. i installed it with a custom ported box and it shakes my car to piece, i don't know how my car hasn't fallen apart yet. anyways, this is a great sub and would def recommend it to somebody who is knew to customizing their system.

Pros: great subwoofer especially for the price, put it in the right box and it will blow your mind.

Cons: the one con is that it doesn't kick as hard as i would like it to.

GreatnEntry level

J0RDANB from San Diego, CA on 8/18/2012

This is a great entry level sub. I ordered two of these and put them in my car hooked up to a 2-channel 800 watt Crunch Ground Pounder amp. These hit extremely well and i am satisfied with my purchase.

Pros: easy to hook up, hit hard

Cons: only single coil

Exceed Expectations

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not a bad Subwoofer at all . Build quality was good, the terminal connections on the sub are easy to use, and after a break in period, it hits just as hard as my old PowerBass L-10D. I am running 240 W RMS to it. The only thing is it doesn't play as low. I think that has more to do with my enclosure-size, so I really can't ding the sub for it. Im right at the upper limit.

Pros: Price

Cons: None

Unless you have a stereo that pushes a min of 100 watts to a single channel, then I would HIGHLY recommend you buying an amp. I used a Kicker 2-channel bridged at 4-ohm pushing 250 watts and sounds great. (the right box is key too, I built mine) Good luck. [ JC Bromac  Jul 12, 2016 ]
