Our take on the Pioneer TS-W302R

Pioneer's TS-W302R 12" subwoofer offers reliable bass performance with an injection-molded polypropylene cone that provides strength for distortion-free definition without unnecessary added weight. The wide-roll, dual-layer urethane surround keeps the cone under control for thumping output that sounds great in sealed or ported enclosures. The best news — you won't have to dig deep into your wallet to add big bass in your vehicle.

The TS-W302R sports a clean, fresh look, accented by a redesigned magnet cover. Spring compression terminals provide for simple, secure wiring connection. The four-layer voice coil augments the sub's power-handling capability, while interior venting keeps the heart of the sub cool and moving in sync for added reliability and long performance life.

Features

Overview: The Pioneer TS-W302R 12-inch, 4-ohm component subwoofer handles 800 watts max. (150 watts RMS nominal power), and features Pioneer's extremely strong and lightweight IMPP Composite Cone Woofer, for improved sensitivity and reduced distortion. The woofer's Conex Damper with Damper Ring delivers higher power handling and deeper bass, and its 4-Layer Long Voice Coil adds extra power and control. In addition, the woofer's Wide-Roll, Dual-Layer Urethane Surround provides excellent control for your big bass notes, and the woofer's Projected Pole Yoke with Vented Pole delivers tight, powerful sound with lower distortion.

IMPP Woofer: The Pioneer TS-W302R features an IMPP (Injection Molded PolyPropylene) woofer cone. The IMPP cone design provides the strength and rigidity powerful bass sound requires.

Surround: The Wide-Roll, Dual-Layer Urethane Surround provides excellent control for big bass notes.

Voice Coil: The woofer's 4-layer long voice coil design allows expanded piston motion for better linearity, improved power handling, and more bass impact.

Projected Pole Yoke: The projected pole yoke extends the magnetic field, greatly improving linearity during large woofer excursions at high input levels.

Vented Pole Yoke: The vented pole yoke allows air circulation within the motor structure to ensure better heat dissipation.

Terminals: The heavy duty spring compression terminals will accept bare wire up to 10 gauge, pin connectors, and single or dual banana plugs.

Best Bang for your Buck

Written By Daniel, Miami, FL on Tuesday, May 04, 2010

I have a pair of these set up in a Free-Air application even though they're not technically
designed for it, but they sound quite amazing. I have owned Kenwood and MTX subs in
the past and these are by far my favorite. These speakers are ideal for a lower power
system and do not dissapoint. If you're looking to be heard 3 blocks away these are not
for you. But if you want something that adds what is missing to your music and more
these are perfect. I have owned a pair for almost 2 years and they are holding up just like
when I pulled them out of the box.

Surprising

Written By Brendon, Colorado on Thursday, December 11, 2008

Got these a couple weeks ago, and now they're just about broken in. I have them hooked up to a pioneer GM-5300T ( 2x125w RMS @ 4Ohm) so they're a bit underpowered, have them in a sealed box at about 3.5 cubic ft. so far they sound great, they are much cleaner than my previous mtx's.
they produce good bass response on all kinds of music. i am very happy with these but it is time to pick up some more dynamat!

Pioneer TS-W302R

Written By tre, sand springs, ok on Saturday, November 15, 2008

I had two old school pioneer's that hit harder then these subs, but they are good soundin an crisp, I don't like the fact that it only hit's 20-90 hertz I mean it's pioneer I figured they would hit to 200. But I can't be disappointed, it sound great, I had it running off my receiver in my house it is 660 watt's an I had it in a small ported box with a crossover built in an it sounded good, but they were still pretty stiff. I got my car back an throw it in the trunk with a 50" long ported box's an man did it pound, I had a 300 watt old school amp, An it's finally broke in. Great sub for a good price. I'm fixin to get the 3000 watt pioneer sub. I would recommend it. Just not a enough low's for me.

Good for beginners

Written By kirk, maryland, USA on Thursday, September 11, 2008

These sub's have a nice clean sound. I would say they are very good for beginners. If you want more power these are not for you. I would recommend these for your fisrt system or a very small car that plays not too much heavy bass based music.

The type of bass you get from your component subwoofer doesn't depend on the woofer alone. You'll need a strong, tightly constructed enclosure for optimum subwoofer performance.
