Pioneer MVH-X380BT (2015 model) vs. Pioneer MVH-X370BT (2014 model)

New features for 2015:
  • AOA 2.0 — play and control music streaming apps on your Android through the receiver's USB port
  • 13-character display

Designed for digital

Pioneer's MVH-X370BT digital media receiver lets you enjoy music from your iPhone® or iPod®, select Android™ phones, or a USB thumb drive. You also get built-in Bluetooth® technology and Pioneer performance – all at a surprisingly nice price. Plus, you can still check out the news or a ballgame on good old-fashioned AM/FM radio.

No discs needed

With direct iPod and iPhone control, you can plug your device into the receiver's USB port and make music selections through the receiver. As a bonus, the receiver will also charge your device while you're playing your tunes. If you own an iPhone 4S or iPhone 5, you can take advantage of Siri® Eyes Free functionality with a touch of a button, accessing a variety of functions with your voice commands.

If you're using an iPod, iPhone, or USB device, Pioneer's integrated MIXTRAX virtual DJ technology can turn your music collection into a non-stop playlist, with customizable transitions and effects that will make your car feel more like a club.

Android users can control their music via Bluetooth or plug into the front panel USB port and play music while getting a charge. You can also plug in a thumb drive and enjoy MP3, WMA, and WAV files, or use the aux input to connect an MP3 player or portable satellite radio tuner.

And if you're a Pandora fan, you'll love having the ability to create your own unique stations that play all your favorite kinds of music.

Built-in Bluetooth™

The MVH-X370BT features built-in Bluetooth, so you can enjoy hands-free calling and wireless music streaming on the road. The included external microphone picks up your conversation, and you'll hear your caller through your vehicle's speakers. The dual phone connection lets you pair two phones, while “Guest Mode" allows you to add or replace a mobile device with ease. That's a great feature for a family car with multiple drivers, or one driver with multiple devices.

Pioneer MVH-X370BT Media Receiver

Great looks, cool features, and Bluetooth.

Compact chassis, big performance

With no CD player to worry about, Pioneer's designers were able to fit lots of features into a remarkably compact chassis that will fit into a wide variety of dashboards. Pioneer's powerful MOSFET amplifier gives you outstanding sound, while Advanced Sound Retriever (ASR) technology brings back the details lost when you compress music. A 5-band graphic equalizer lets you adjust the sound to suit your tastes, while a set of RCA preamp outputs allows you to expand your system for maximum performance.

This digital media receiver will not play CDs. If you want to play CDs in your vehicle, we offer a wide selection of CD receivers.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

    Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

Purchased this unit to replace a factory radio/cd player in my 2003 Altima. The unit and accessories provided by Crutchfield are top notch; really happy with it so far.

Installed in about an hour, and I'm not an expert with electronics. The instructions could have been a little more descriptive but I found some notes on an Altima forum to fill in the gaps. Overall very impressed.

Pros: - Great sound quality - Value, wish I had done this years ago - Control, easy to use, intuitive interface - Bluetooth call quality is very good with included mic, and connects to phone in just a few seconds after turning on

Cons: - Bluetooth music streaming seems to cut out occasionally. I've tried moving the phone in several locations but it seems to happen even right next to the unit. It could potentially be my phone (LG V10). This is the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star. If I can remedy the problem I will update to 5 star.

I bought this radio for my daughter's car since her stock radio did not have an AUX port. This radio has all the features I was looking for and then some. She loves the fact that it comes with a USB port that she can use with her iPod and not have to carry an additional car charger. Having never installed a car stereo before, the installation was fairly easy and straightforward. I would highly recommend this stereo to anyone looking to upgrade an older stereo that comes standard in most cars.

Pros: Features, USB port that charges, easy to install

    Cons: none

For someone like myself who has never attempted any wiring this stereo was a relatively easy install. I used butt connectors to crimp stereo wires to the Crutchfield harness that was provided. Simple color matching and very straight forward. Make sure to double check that all your connections are good by tugging on both ends if using butt connectors so that when you plug the stereo into the factory harness everything works properly. The stereo drastically improved the sound quality to all four of my aftermarket car door speakers. Bluetooth feature for audio is super convenient. All around great stereo for the price.

Pros: Straight forward install Improves sound quality Bluetooth connects to phone and plays audio automatically upon start up

    Cons: None so far

It's another great radio in Pioneer's lineup!

It has built in Bluetooth, aux port, and a USB slot for your phones or storage mediums.

Of course it also has the radio, but honestly who needs that crap nowadays?

Anyways, this is in fact the CD-LESS model. So be sure to steer clear if you're looking for a radio to play CDs for you.

Other than that, works great, looks great.

Even works with Siri. I use an iPhone 6s Plus running iOS 9.3.

Pros: Extremely simple to use and can also set up audio to your liking with the EQ settings. Connects to your phone right after you start your car. Still has simple eject button to pop out the face when you're not in or nearby your car.

Cons: Can't change the colors with this model! :( Stuck with a nice brilliant and luscious blue. :)

    I really love it!

I finally decided to replace the factory AM/FM/Cassette radio in my 2000 Honda CR-V, and for some reason browsed the Crutchfield website. I'm glad I did: picked up a great-value unit which significantly improved my quality-of-life while driving.

Pros: Easy to use, plenty of power (nearly 3x the output of the factory unit), accepts MP3 input through mini-jack and USB, and includes Bluetooth connectivity; handy dimmer button easily dims radio display (important!, this reflection in the windshield can be very distracting. This unit came with 6 months Pandora trial (I have Pandora already but that's a great deal, worth $30 at current Pandora pay-account levels); detachable face-plate/control center; simple display/two colors (not gimmicky.

Cons: No CD player (I knew this going in and thought that not having a CD player wouldn't be a problem - it truly isn't, but think this through before purchase because now I think about the music I could listen to without burning to my library, then creating a playlist and putting that on my iPhone or iPod shuffle; the little black-plastic surround (which serves to cover up where the metal radio box meets the plastic housing is flimsy (cosmetic/not important).

What a great radio for the price. Vastly exceeded my expectation.

Pros: Well thought out design and functionality. Easy to use. Looks great. This is a very slick and polished product for a surprisingly small amount of money. Crutchfield's installation documentation was very thorough. Their tech support was available and helpful even on a Sunday afternoon. I'm just as impressed with Crutchfield as I am with this stereo.

Cons: I wish I knew about Crutchfield before I bought a prior radio for a different car. Crutchfield's price, instructions, support and included extras beat the heck out of what I got online with another large retailer.

This is a great little radio that is priced just right. I installed it in my wife's CRV and it brought the aftermarket speakers to life. The sound is clear and crisp and you are able to adjust the high and low frequencies as well as other audio features found in higher priced radios. It has all the features we were looking for such as hands free phone call, Bluetooth Audio and Pandora control. My only complaint is that it has a lot of features and not a big enough display to view them nor enough buttons to maneuver through them safely while driving. It's still a great radio that does what it's designed to do well.

Pros: Audio, Bluetooth and Pandora CTLs, sound, size, price and Crutchfield support.

Cons: Display is small, too many features to control from the limited buttons make it unsafe to operate while driving.

Amazed by sound quality! Crutchfield suggested and provided universal installation kit, wiring harness, and DIN tool for removal of stock radio. I lost a little time on removal of stock radio when I heard "click" and thought DINs were fully inserted when they were not. For the amateur, you'll also need 20 gauge butt end connectors and crimping tool to connect existing harness leads with new radio. Bluetooth works great with phone and iTunes. VERY pleased overall.

Pros: Super sound quality and ease of installation

Cons: You'll sacrifice steering wheel controls of radio, but that is more than compensated for by the handy remote control. There is a slight mismatch on BT and radio power output, in other words, volume increases dramatically when switching from BT to FM.

Great small, compact receiver. Good sound quality through factory amplified speakers.

Pros: Lots of features you'd expect from Pioneer. BT for both audio and phone (I didn't use the phone feature). Pandora via BT.

Cons: If your phone has a lock screen, can be tricky to get both Pandora and BT audio to connect or reconnect. This is not a con of the receiver, more of a con overall of the lock screen on your device.

    Pros: Price. Bluetooth. Audio quality.

Cons: None so far. Maybe a few too many menus, makes for slightly difficult navigation at times but that's kind of quibbling.

Plugged in my Trio mp3 player, worked perfectly. Have not tried my remote yet, but the instructions are simple. No problems setting clock, getting song display. Radio is great. I LOVE IT! No more skipped cds and visor full of them. I also used my Amazon music program on both phone & trio to play my music. The newer one with the "difference", mine does that also. Easy faceplate removal also!

Pioneer delivers with quality so I was not surprised with the receiver being a great one. Mic is easily set up and after a day of understanding all the controls it is a walk in the park to use this. Install is relatively easy (Obviously depends on the car. I had a Nissan Maxima 1997). The only downside might be that the color and dim settings are somewhat annoying when you're driving in the day and there might be a glare. Blue is a cool color, but can be hard to see.

Great looking unit, and the best part was this 60 year old grandma installed it all by herself. I was worried about installing it in my Ford Focus, but the Crutchfield installation kit and instructions made it fairly easy. The trickiest part was getting the old unit out, but a check on YouTube for some videos helped. I did not realize how sub par stock radio was until I had this one in and running. I was able to easily pair my iPhone.

This receiver blows my original car cd\radio away. I'm kinda new to the technology though. Just got my first smartphone a couple of months ago. I love the Blue Tooth. There are many settings to get the sound just the way you want it. Getting some of the features set up was a little tricky but only because I'm a little behind the times. You won't be disappointed with this deck. Installation was a breeze.

Pros: None really. This was a great purchase. It does just what I wanted. Great sound.

Cons: I would like to be able to dim more than just the display. Driving at night the buttons are a little bright. So far as I know they are not adjustable. But it may just be a setting I've missed. Just a minor thing though.

I installed this in my wife's car (02.5 Mazda Protege 5) about a week ago and she says she loves it. The mic is mounted above the rearview mirror, and I can hear her very clearly. The sound is a clear upgrade vs. the OEM upgraded 6-CD changer headunit, with way better use of the sub.

I docked a star from its rating because of the iPhone/Pandora interface. The way it's documented in the manual, you can only use the head unit to control Pandora on an iPhone using a USB cable, not via bluetooth. You can use the HU to control Pandora on an Android phone though. I don't know what company is at fault here, but this is a weird difference in interface. Since my wife has an iPhone 5s, we sometimes use BT audio instead of the Pandora feature, which allows us to skip tracks, but requires that we use the phone for up/down votes and changing stations. If we use the cable, sometimes it doesn't connect. In conclusion, iPhone/Pandora needs work.

My little brother just bought his first car, and decided to buy him a new head-unit for his older 2001 Toyota. Was a very easy decision, been doing business with crutchfield a very long time :). He wanted something with bluetooth and have the ability to play mp3 on flash drive. This head unit has no cd-slot, who uses cds anymore anyway? He installed it in under a hour with no problems and tested the Bluetooth streaming .

I love this receiver! It's a quantum leap from its predecessor, a 1994 vintage Am/Fm cassette deck. How did I live without Bluetooth, auxiliary and USB inputs, hands free mobile connection with microphone, 4 speaker + subwoofer outputs, and a huge array of possible sound adjustments? This unit delivers great sound and it's easy to use. The little remote control keeps your hands off the dash and the face plate is removable. Installation was easy using the wiring harness adapter recommended for my old truck and Crutchfield's tech support service. I use my cell phone to play Pandora stations and the music plays on the receiver thru Bluetooth. Sweet!

Pros: Bluetooth, auxiliary & USB inputs, loaded with sound adjustment features, free Crutchfield tech support.

Cons: No CD drive...but who needs one?

This is a great mechless unit! I purchased this to replace the head unit in my '96 F250 Powerstroke. It sounds great even in a noisy diesel truck. It has options galore when it comes to sound adjustments. There is your normal bass, treble, balance, and fade adjustments and in top of that it has a 3 level loudness control, a bass boost adjustment at certain frequencies, and a customizable EQ setting. It also has sub woofer pre outs as well. The unit has USB, 1/8 inch aux, and Bluetooth inputs. The Bluetooth connection also comes with a mic for making and receiving calls on your mobile. I've been told that even in this noisy diesel truck that the person on the other end hears me loud and clear with little to no background noise.

The only negative thing I can say about my experience with Crutchfield is that when I received notification from Crutchfield that it had been delivered, it was actually just dropped off at my local post office. I didn't get it until the next day when I picked up my mail. This is not Crutchfield's fault but maybe they could work with the shipping companies to be a bit more precise. I looked for it on my property after I received the notification and honestly didn't know where it was until the next day. Other than that, Crutchfield and Pioneer did a great job!

Pros: Mechless (digital media receiver), sound adjustment options galore, Bluetooth audio and mobile phone connection

    Cons: Can't think of any.

Overall good value for the money and boosts the performance of my stock speakers. Had it for week or two now. Works as expected and I am relatively satisfied. I wish there were more options on how the display moves/cycles. I would like to make it cycle faster and there is no setting for that. The volume button is also the menu button. When driving and adjusting the volume, I'm constantly bumping it and triggering the menu when trying to adjust volume. It only has one display color, blue. But I like that color anyway. It looks pretty cool at night time. One thing that bugs me is the clock display. It doesn't show when the key is turned off. I got used to seeing that on my stock radio. And when it's on, I have to choose between the clock or broadcast info or station. I can't see both at one time. Lastly, the menu buttons are kinda small. You have to be very precise otherwise it is very easy to "fat finger" them. Especially when driving and trying to adjust.

Overall, a good replacement. But definitely check features in person at another retailer or another audio shop.

Also, I chose to have it installed it after I had real trouble getting the stock radio out. That was a VERY good decision as they did in one hour what would have taken me 3-4. Adn they did a great job routing the bluetooth speaker for handsfree. (Turns out they had trouble getting the stock radio out too...very stubborn.)

Pros: Good sound Looks nice, especially at night 6 radio presets per band Front USB and Aux inputs

Cons: Clock does not display when key is turned off Menu system is cumbersome Volume/Menu button combination

Overall I have been very happy with this stereo after 4 months of use. As others have noted it is very difficult to view the display due to the glare on the readout. The display cannot be brightened which sucks too. There are some other minor annoying things but since I can't remember them at this moment they must not be that big a deal. I would buy again.

    Pros: Does as advertised well.

Cons: Difficult to read in sunlight due to the glare.

So glad that I upgraded to this one. I had a Dual brand one some years ago and the radio was scratchy, the bluetooth didn't work well, and the MP3s never played. I was apprehensive about buying another digital player, but this one had good reviews so I tried this one out. The price was a bit higher than some of the other options but this one was the cheapest one with bluetooth phone that had good reviews. Very glad that I got it.

So far it's worked great and all of it's features work great. The best part is how fast and seamless the bluetooth function is. Very happy with purchase.

Pros: Sound is clear and loud Bluetooth sync is fast and seamless. Switches from phone call to music very fast Simple layout and easy to use menu

Nice little stereo. Simple design. Interface is pretty intuitive and easy to use. Aesthetically simple in a nice way. I like how the volume knob protrudes more than older car stereos I've had - makes for easy adjustment without taking my eyes off the road. I bought this for a car that I'm selling but would definitely consider buying another for my other older car.

Pros: Easy to use. Was easy to pair my iPhone.

Cons: Pandora interface w/ iPhone requires USB connection instead of through BT like Android users can (can stream Pandora through "BT Audio" mode but have to use phone to skip songs/change station). Using Pandora from my iPhone was confusing at first. But then I read the instructions (yeah, I know), changed a quick setting and got it working beautifully.

Was looking to upgrade features in my 99 F150 and this fit the bill. After my wife bought a new car I found myself missing the Bluetooth compatability for both phone use and streaming of Audible and Pandora when driving my truck. Install was cake thanks to Crutchfield's usual extras. Bought from these guys way back in highschool, amazing that the great service still remains 25 years later. Why would anyone buy elsewhere. Only knock on this unit itself is the display is a little old fashioned and difficult to read all in daylight at times but that's Pioneers style and the factory Ford was worse to begin with. This is a great drop in solution, plenty of bells and whistles. Bluetooth sync is seamless and the controls mostly intuitive. Happy to get rid of the tape deck and the addition of the dash pocket is perfect for my phone. Will be removing the 6 disk changer from console next now that I have latest technology in the dash. Thank you for the pleasant addition to my daily commute.

Pros: Almost free, great feature additions without any added bulk or useless features. Personally think Sirius is very over priced so was happy to avoid that built in feature in this headunit. Very happy

Cons: Pioneer dot display style is dated and difficult at times with sun glare. Still big improvement from Ford stock. USB port on Android defaults to autoplay all music tracks including ringtones and notifications rather then just charging device. For those without external USB chargers could see this as annoying but I am nitpicking. All desires accomplished nicely via Bluetooth, will likely not use USB port, just a small dissapointment there as was hoping for additional "Guest charging port.".

This radio is easy to setup and has a great sound with after market pioneer speakers. Blue Tooth was easy to setup and works perfectly. This radio doesn't have a CD player and I don't miss it at all. I use the Radio, BT, USB-MP3 and aux inputs to play music and/or audio books. I haven't used CDs in over 5 years. Love using the hands free BT phone option.

Pros: Handles all of the different types of media that I use for music and audio books. Good sound quality with lots of listening option to adjust for your favorite taste; Base, treble, Mid-range etc.... Very easy to setup cell phone Bluetooth connection for music or calls.

Cons: Not really a down side for me because I prefer blue illumination but if you want other color options you will have to buy one of the pioneer radios that includes multiple color illumination.

I finally got sick of listening to the radio about 6 months back so I had been riding with my headphones in, which is extremely dangerous. I wanted to get a head unit with bluetooth or an AUX cord and luckily I found out about this model. It connects crazy fast, maybe 1-3 seconds as soon as you turn on your car. I installed this myself and the tutorial that Crutchfield provided was very detailed. It took me about an hour tops to install and have everything running properly. Overall I would buy this again, i'm thinking about buying one for my dad's truck.

Pros: Bluetooth, AUX and USB cord on the front. Connects to phone really fast. Easy to install.

    Cons: Dimmer

I went shopping for a new in-car receiver because I'd grown to hate the stock unit that came with my Hyundai. The biggest aggravation was that it *always* insisted on playing something when my iPhone was connected. It was impossible to stop or pause the playback unless I turned off the entire radio. That rather ruined the ability to, for instance, just listen to turn by turn directions while giving a passenger the quiet necessary to hold a phone conversation in the car.

This unit passed the minimal test of allowing me to pause playback without throwing a hissy fit. From that angle, it's a wonderful upgrade to what I already have. So far, I've only used the Bluetooth and USB connections, but both of those operate exactly as advertised.

Pros: Plays well through both USB and Bluetooth.

Cons: I haven't yet figured out how to switch Bluetooth inputs between my iPhone and my wife's iPhone. The LCD display is atrociously bad and it's hard to read the track title and author information. The overall design and color choices look like something designed for a hyper teenager. I was quite disappointed that nothing in this price point has a classier, more adult, design. The plastic buttons feel cheap and flimsy. I hope they last as long as the car itself does.

Easy to install and easy to use. I bought this so that my wife could replace her stock radio with a bluetooth capable radio for phone calls and playing music from her phone/ipod. This does exactly what it said it would do, and was simple to set up and begin using. No complaints.

Pros: Plays Bluetooth easily, microphone picks up voice very well.

    Cons: None yet!

I wanted a digital player with Bluetooth for my older Ford pickup. I've owned Pioneer radios before so ordered another one. The first issue came with the instructions for removing the old radio. The supplied clips went in okay, but you need to grab the clips and then push them both outwards to release the brackets. The instructions are not clear on this and I had to go online to find out how. The rest of the installation went very smoothly. The wiring harness that comes with it matched perfectly. But programming the radio is not intuitive at all. The radio wants to default to a setting that automatically selects the 6 most powerful radio stations in the area and it took some doing to get that changed. Bluetooth works perfectly but to pair devices I used my phone's setup procedure instead of the radio's. All in all, I like the sound and the look.

    Pros: Great sound looks good

    Cons: quirky setup

I purchased the head unit to replace the stock stereo in my 2013 Nissan Altima. Instructions were pretty straight forward and the entire replacement took about 2 hours. The bluetooth connection was very simple and I was able to connect my Android phone withing 3 minutes. Sound quality is much better than the stock unit since the sound can be modified to your particular taste. I would recommend this unit to anyone that is looking to add better sound, bluetooth, and USB connectivity to their car.

Pros: Easy to install. Bluetooth connection is flawless. Sound improvement.

Cons: When re-connecting via bluetooth, the unit restarts the last track that was played and since I listen to audiobooks that are stored on my phone, they may be a few hours long. I have to remember where I left off and manually fast forward.

Pros: Works great with iPhone 6. Nice small unit which will fit into small shallow installs.

Cons: wish the display was a little more refined, instead of dot characters.

Bought and installed this for my nephew in his 2007 Grand Prix. It's powering a pair of Kicker 6.5 " and stock rears. Decent amount of power, and really easy to use. Paired up with his phone seamlessly, he loves it. A solid deal for a deck at this price. No CD player, which would be a negative for me

I purchased this unit for my wife who is disabled. The system connects seamlessly with our phones and enables excellent hands free connection. Pros: Works great with iPhone5.

Replaced the stock 2007 Ram 1500 Quad Cab radio which died. Simple install. Sounds great. Still using the stock speakers but now that I have a decent radio I may have to upgrade those as well.

Pros: AUX and USB ports on the front panel. Pretty easy to install.

Cons: None so far but I haven't sync'd my iPhone or done much with the MP3 audio capability. We'll see...
