About the Pioneer DEH-X6700BS

Ken Nail

Siri Eyes Free, at your command

If you rely on your iPhone® and Siri, Pioneer's DEH-X6700BS CD receiver gives you a convenient Bluetooth® connection, so you can ask Siri to make calls, select and play music, compose and hear text messages, read notifications, even use maps and get directions — all commanded by your voice through your stereo. It can make your drive safer and more productive.

Add a SiriusXM tuner for programming variety

The entertainment variety of satellite radio makes it indispensable to truckers, RV owners, and other road warriors. With this Pioneer, you can add an optional tuner to access SiriusXM's impressive lineup with your receiver's controls. With your SiriusXM subscription, you'll enjoy hundreds of channels, covering the gamut of music, news, talk, sports, comedy, and much more.

Built-in Bluetooth

This versatile Pioneer allows you to answer a phone call with the push of a button. You'll talk as if your caller is sitting next to you, freeing up your hands and letting you concentrate on the drive. The DEH-X6700BS supports Bluetooth audio streaming too, so you can stream music wirelessly from compatible devices to the receiver, plus control basic functions like "track up" or "track down."

Plenty of media options

The front-panel USB input allows you to connect your iPod® or iPhone®, then access your playlists with the Pioneer's controls. You'll also enjoy control over your favorite Pandora® stations from the receiver with your iPhone or Android device. You can use the USB input to tap into the music files stored on many Android devices, and the front aux input handles just about any other audio source.

Pioneer DEH-X6700BS

You customize the display and control colors of the DEH-X6700BS to match your taste.

Turn on the color

The DEH-X6700BS CD receiver spans the color spectrum with a multi-color, dual-zone display that lets you choose from thousands of colors for the display and controls — you can even choose different colors for each. MIXTRAX adds to the fun by adding transitions between songs along with a light show that pulses and changes color with the beat of the music. It's like having your own DJ riding shotgun.

Tailor the sound

Pioneer's potent MOSFET amplifier delivers plenty of punch, while the 5-band EQ lets you tweak the sound as much as you want. Three sets of preamp outputs make it easier to add external amplifiers or a powered sub.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with this car stereo. Connect a few wires, then program the adapter for your particular car and radio, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. You'll see the adapters that work with your vehicle when you add this receiver to your cart.

Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth 3.0: The DEH-X6700BS is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (ver. 3.0), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile), OPP 1.1 (Object Push Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Pioneer DEH-X6700BS.

SPP + USB Pairing w/ Guest Mode: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the DEH-X6700BS without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings (your phone must also support SSP). Up to 3 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be paired to this head unit.

    • USB Pairing for iPhone: You can also pair your Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) by simply connecting it to the Pioneer head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display.
    • Guest Mode: "Guest Mode" allows you to add and replace a 3rd mobile device instantly to the receiver; Guest Mode is a great feature for a family vehicle with multiple drivers or a driver with multiple devices because it allows users to pair and delete devices easily without a lengthy registration or deletion process.
    • Dual Phone Connect: Once the pairing process is complete, the head unit will automatically connect two phones when in the vehicle to make and receive calls and stream music from both mobile devices.

Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The DEH-X6700BS supports wireless hands-free communication (HFP/PBAB) for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. And, thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the DEH-X6700BS provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The head unit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer an incoming call or have the unit automatically answer the call. The DEH-X6700BS allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode. Using the DEH-X6700BS, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:

    • Phone Book: The phone book in your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone will be transferred automatically when the phone is paired to this unit. After finding the number you want to call in the phone book from the head unit, you can select the entry and make the call. If a lot of numbers are registered in the phone book, you can search for a phone number by the contact person's name alphabetically (A-Z).
    • Presets: You can easily store up to six phone numbers as presets for speed dialing.
    • Call Log: The most recent calls dialed, received, and missed are stored in memory. You can browse them and call numbers from these lists.
    • Voice Dialing (Siri only): When paired and connected with an iPhone 4S or later via Bluetooth, the Pioneer head unit has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. You'll be able to dial a phone number or contact via voice command.
Note: The external microphone provides better performance in noisy environments than the integrated microphone found on the front-panel of many aftermarket or factory radios. The microphone features a 13' cord that plugs into the back of the radio, and comes with an adjustable visor-mount clip. The microphone measures 0.475" (diameter) x 1.445" (depth). The unit is not equipped with an integrated microphone.

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ Advanced Music Navigation): The Pioneer DEH-X6700BS also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The head unit can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or music apps you have downloaded on your device. In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat), the DEH-X6700BS lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. (AVRCP 1.4+ phones only). The head unit will also display your music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (app must also support). When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call.

Siri Eyes-Free Control: When paired and connected with an iPhone 4S with Siri via Bluetooth (not USB), the Pioneer DEH-X6700BS has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. Simply press and hold head unit's phone key to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice is heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the DEH-X6700BS and its microphone. You can even ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Siri. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Note: The head unit's front-panel LCD will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the Pioneer CD receiver; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).
    Disc & USB (Android) Playback

Compatible Discs: The Pioneer DEH-X6700BS CD receiver supports playback of CD-Audio, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. This unit can play MP3, WMA, and WAV files recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs

Front-Panel USB Input (Android Compliant): The CD receiver's front-panel USB (type-A) port allows you to connect a USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) or USB Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) compliant device; such as your Android smartphone or USB thumbdrive. The USB port enables audio playback & control of MP3, WMA, and WAV audio files stored on your portable USB MSC/MTP device through the Pioneer DEH-X6700BS. Basic playback controls included Play/Pause, FW/RW, Previous/Next Track, and Random/Repeat. Song/artist information such as track, artist, and album name will also be displayed on the head unit. In addition, USB devices that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the CD receiver's USB port (1A) and the vehicle's ignition switch is set to ACC or On.

    • MSC Playback: The Pioneer DEH-X6700BS's USB port enables playback & control of MP3/WMA/WAV music files stored on your portable USB MSC device, like your older Android smartphone (w/ OS 2.2+ [Froyo/Gingerbread]) or USB thumbdrive device (up to 32GB) through the head unit.
    • MTP Playback: The DEH-X6700BS's USB port also enables playback & control of stored MP3/WMA music files on your portable USB MTP device, like your newer Android smartphone (w/ OS 4.0+ [Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean/KitKat]) through the Pioneer head unit.
Note: You cannot use your Android smartphone's touchscreen to control music playback and you cannot select music apps from your smartphone for playback. However, you can continue to listen to stored music on your Android smartphone through the head unit while you check your Calendar, Facebook, Texts, etc on your phone.

MP3/WMA/WAV Playback: The Pioneer DEH-X6700BS supports the following types of MP3/WMA/WAV files recorded onto CD-R/RW disc or loaded onto a USB MSC/MTP device.

    Media Type CD-R/RW USB (MSC/MTP)
File System ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Joliet, Romeo, Long file name FAT 12/16/32
Playable File Types  MP3: bit rate of 8-320 kbps w/ sampling rate of 8-48 kHz
WMA: bit rate of 48-320 kbps w/ sampling rate of 32, 44.1, 48 kHz
WAV: bit rate of 8/16-bit w/ sampling rate of 16-48kHz or 22.05-44.1kHz (not compatible w/ MTP)

Tags ID3 tags (ver.1.0/1.1/2.2/2.3/2.4), WMA tags

File/Track Name List: The Name List feature displays a list of MP3/WMA albums and tracks on a loaded CD or connected USB device, so you can easily access your music. Music files are listed first by Artist name, then by Album name, and finally by Song title.

Song/Artist Information: During MP3/WMA playback, the unit displays any recorded ID3 Tag (ver. 1.x/2.x) and WMA Tag information; including artist, song, and album name.

Playback Controls: The Pioneer CD receiver provides basic operations like Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track, and Repeat/Random for disc and USB device playback. When a compatible Android smartphone is connected, the head unit will control music playback functions; you will not be able to control your music from the smartphone.

Off Insert/Eject + Auto Off Eject: A CD disc can be inserted or ejected with the power off. When a disc is inserted with the power off, the unit will automatically power up and begin playback. When you eject a disc, the unit will automatically power off (unless you switch sources before ejecting the disc).

Installation Angle: Optimum CD playback performance is obtained when the unit is installed at an angle of less than 60-degrees.

    iPhone/Aux Integration

iPod Direct Connection: The Pioneer DEH-X6700BS's front-panel USB port can be used to connect your Lightning or 30-pin dock connector iPod/iPhone to the head unit. The DEH-X6700BS supports audio playback, music navigation, information display, and charging of your compatible Apple device.

    • Lightning Connector: If you have a newer iPod/iPhone with the Lightning-connector, you can use Pioneer's Lightning-to-USB cable (130CDIU52, sold separately) or the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device to connect your iPod/iPhone to the DEH-X6700BS.
    • 30-Pin Dock Connector: If you have an older iPod/iPhone with a 30-pin dock connector, you can use Pioneer's dock connector-to-USB cable (130CDIU51, sold separately) or the dock connector-to-USB cable that comes with your Apple device to connect your iPod/iPhone to the DEH-X6700BS.
Note: The head unit's USB connection provides 1A of current to power and charge your connected iPod/iPhone when your vehicle's ignition switch is set to the 'ACC' or 'On' position (if your iPod/iPhone has no initial battery charge, then the unit will not recognize it).

iPod Audio Playback w/ DAC Bypass: The USB connection allows your iPod/iPhone's stored music to be loaded instantly to the head unit and sound quality to be maximized through the head unit's 24-bit D/A converter, allowing for a Signal to Noise ratio up to 94dB. The Pioneer head unit supports audio playback of stored music, podcasts, audiobooks, and music apps on your iPod or iPhone. You can choose to operate your iPod/iPhone through the head unit's front-panel controls, from its clickwheel/touchscreen, or via a streamed app from your iPhone.

    • Head Unit Mode: From the head unit, you can browse your iPod/iPhone's music library by Artist, Album, Song, Genre, Playlist, Composer, Podcast, or Audiobook. Once you have selected a category, you can search each category alphabetically. In addition, the head unit offers Link Play, which allows you to play songs related to the currently playing song. Link Play lets the head unit create an album list of the currently playing artist, a song list of the currently playing album, or an album list of the currently playing genre. You can also select Random & Repeat functions for a certain song or specific folder. The head unit will display your iPod/iPhone's stored music file information; including Track number, Elapsed playing time, and Song/Artist/Album name. Apple devices w/ iOS 6.0+ will stay unlocked, so you can access music apps; other iPod/iPhone device's clickwheel or touchscreen will be locked during this mode.
    • iPod Mode: In iPod mode, you can navigate the stored music on your iPod/iPhone from its clickwheel or touchscreen, while still being able to view song/artist information and control basic playback functions from the head unit. You will not be able to browse your iPod/iPhone's music by category from the head unit or use Link Play in this mode.
    • App Mode: App mode lets you listen to your favorite music apps from your iPhone (iOS 5.0+) through the Pioneer head unit and your vehicle's speakers. Once you have selected the music app from your iPhone, you'll be able to listen to music from that app through the Pioneer head unit, view song/artist information on the head unit's LCD, and operate basic playback functions such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track from the head unit's front-panel control. Not all apps will be compatible with App Mode.

Auxiliary Input: The DEH-X6700BS is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player.

    AM/FM+Pandora+SiriusXM Radio

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

    • RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.
    • BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.
    • Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 levels of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

Pandora Internet Radio: The free Pandora App (either from iTunes Apps/Google Play) lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer DEH-X6700BS using your USB-connected Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) or Bluetooth paired Android smartphone. Your Apple iPhone must be connected to the DEH-X6700BS via the CD-IU51/CD-IU52 Pioneer iPod connector cable or the connector-cable that came with your iPhone. Your Android smartphone must support A2DP/AVRCP/SPP Bluetooth profiles and be paired with the Pioneer receiver. Your iPhone or Android smartphone will also need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. The DEH-X6700BS provides control over the Pandora music service and displays Artist, Album, and Song information.

    • Station List: You can select Pandora stations from your Station List by date or alphabetically (A-Z).
    • Shuffle Station List: You can listen to songs played randomly from various stations within your Station List.
    • New Stations + Delete: New stations can be created based on the current songs or artists playing. You can also delete a station from your Pandora station list.
    • Skip Songs: You can skip song tracks within a station. You cannot skip back to a previous song. Pandora limits the number of skips allowed.
    • Thumbs Up/Down: You can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down to help Pandora personalize stations to suit your preferences.
    • Bookmarking: The song/artist currently being played can be bookmarked & stored in your Pandora account.

Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada & only available in the United States.

SiriusXM Ready: The Pioneer CD receiver is SiriusXM 3.0 Ready, so you can listen to commercial-free music, all your favorite sports, exclusive talk and entertainment, comedy, news, traffic, weather, and more. Simply connect the SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner (220SXV200 or 220SXV300, both sold separately) to the dedicated SiriusXM port on the rear of the head unit and enjoy satellite radio without additional translators or cables. With the SiriusXM Connect tuner you'll have access to more than 175 channels of exclusive programming directly from SiriusXM; check out the most popular SiriusXM subscription packages here. Additional features include:

    • Channel/Category Lists: The Channel List displays a list of all available channels. The Category List displays all available categories and stations within those categories.
    • Song/Artist Information: Displayed Information such as Channel Name, Artist Name, & Song Title can be viewed on the head unit's LCD.
    • Instant Replay & Category Scan: The SiriusXM Instant Replay function lets you pause, rewind, and replay up to 60 minutes of live content from the station that you are currently listening to. During Category Scan, the live broadcast for each channel in the current category plays for six seconds at a time.
    • Presets: You can store up to 18 SiriusXM Satellite Radio Station Presets with special tuning features.
      • TuneStart: TuneStart automatically start songs from the beginning when you tune to one of your preset music channels stored on the current band of presets.
      • TuneScan: TuneScan lets you scan through short previews of songs you may have missed on music channels stored on the current band of presets.
      • TuneMix (SXV300 tuner only): Create a music channel that's a blend of songs made up from the music channels stored on the current band of presets.
    • Parental Control: The SiriusXM Parental Control feature allows you to control access to channels that you consider inappropriate for younger listeners. When enabled, The Parental Control feature requires you to enter a 4-digit passcode to tune to the locked channels.
Note: A separate SiriusXM Satellite Radio subscription is required (operates on the XM Network). However, you can easily add this SiriusXM tuner to an existing Sirius or XM account for a Multi-Radio Discount Plan.
    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The DEH-X6700BS is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the DEH-X6700BS are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels
Note: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

6ch/2V Preamp Outputs w/ Sub Control: The Pioneer DEH-X8700BS features three pair of 2.0-volt preamp outputs (Front/Rear/Subwoofer). The unit's front and rear preamp output can be faded (front/rear), while the subwoofer preamp output is non-fading. When using the subwoofer output, you can select the frequency of the low pass filter (50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 125 Hz), select the filter slope (-6/-12dB), select the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to -24).

Equalizer: The Pioneer DEH-X6700BS features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band EQ (80Hz, 250Hz, 800Hz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each source (except for USB/iPod/Pandora); while Custom 2 and the other 5 presets are shared settings used for all sources.

High-Pass Crossover: When you don't want low-frequency sound to be heard through your front or rear speakers, you can simply active the head unit's HPF (high pass filter). By activating the HPF, only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output from the front or rear speakers. The high pass filter crossover can be set to 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160hz, 200Hz or Off. The slope level of the HPF can also be adjusted to -6dB or 12dB.

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files stored on your USB thumbdrive, Android smartphone, iPod/iPhone, or Bluetooth device. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies

Audio Level Settings: The Pioneer DEH-X6700BS CD receiver offers a variety of audio settings to tailor the bass, treble, and volume level to your preference.

    • Bass Boost The DEH-X6700BS features a bass boost function which can be used to enhance low-frequency bass sound. The bass boost function can be set between 0-6.
    • Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.
    • Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 9 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPhone, iPod, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays; select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 minutes.

Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work in App mode or with the Pandora App for iPod/iPhone, and is not supported by USB MTP devices. The Advanced Sound Retriever function is disabled when MIXTRAX is activated.
    Display Features

Detachable Face Security: The Pioneer DEH-X6700BS in-dash CD receiver features detachable face security. No face case is included with this unit. An optional soft face case (142DFC1X, sold separately) can be purchased for this unit. A face-fixing screw is supplied for making the face non-detachable, if desired.

Color Customization: Color Customization lets the user match their receiver illumination to their vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The button illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. You can select from 5 preset colors (White/Red/Amber/Green/Blue), customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red/Blue/Green brightness levels), or scan through a variety of colors.

Brightness Control: You can manually adjust the brightness (1-10) of the head unit's display to suit your viewing needs. You can also sync the receiver's illumination to the head units' clock or your vehicle's headlights. To dim the receiver's display automatically when the vehicle's headlights are turned on, you'll need to hardwire the orange/white wire of the head unit's harness to your vehicle's parking light circuit.

MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose different patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music.

Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can press the "DISP" button to turn off). When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the "DISP" button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On, you can choose to have the clock display during playback of each source.

Demo Mode: This unit features a Demo mode which can be turned On/Off within the menu.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The DEH-X6700BS comes with an IR wireless remote control. The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause playback, skip music tracks, change display info, and answer/end Bluetooth phone call. You can also mute the volume (function that cannot be performed from the front panel).

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible.

How is the stereo's connector colour coated? which coloured wire means what?
    connor  Mar 12, 2016
    5 answers
    A
It's been over a year since installation, so I don't remember the particulars. My recollection is that the colors of the connector/adapter that Crutchfield sent matched the colors of my Chevy Suburban, except that one set of connectors is not used because that set was for the tape player which does not interface with the Pioneer radio. The exception on the color coding was a light blue wire which, if I remember properly, was an additional ground wire that was not needed. I sealed it off prior to putting the radio in. I hope this helps--simply been too long for more specifics.

Sorry, I don't know; I asked a friend who's familiar with radios to install this for me so he set it up. I can tell you the instructions enclosed did answer your question because I remember he referred to it constantly to set the radio up for installation. I can also tell you that but for times when it will not pick up the satellite connection, it works very well.

Not sure if it fits a 2000 Ford pickup. I was able to make a modified fit on my 2004 Ford SD pickup with the instructions provided by Crutchfield
    marco  Dec 21, 2015
    A
No, this stereo will not fill the entire hole of your truck. There will be an open slot below it....but you can purchase a custom install kit for your truck to give you that factory finish look! Read more below. Your truck will require an common custom install kit(which can be purchased from Crutchfield...or locally). Depending on the kit you purchase, you will 1) have a rubber/plastic black plate which will hide the empty space and look neat in appearance or 2) (my preference,) a storage pocket/shelf that will be under your new stereo. You have a place to put extra stuff! The custom install kits are common, and most everyone that replaces their stereo will have to purchase install kits and/or wiring/plug harnesses in order to have that factory finish look. The Pioneer unit I purchased .... I installed it into my daughters 2003 VW Beetle....it did not need the black plate or storage pocket...but I did purchase the wiring harness from Crutchfield and it made it a breeze to install. I hope this is of help to you!!!

can i use my Samsung gusto 3 flip phone that has bluetoothj ?
    edward  Dec 18, 2015
    1 answer
    A
First of all, does your flip phone have Bluetooth? If it does, it would seem as though it would work with the Pioneer. I have no literature on the Samsung gusto 3 and do not have a list of phones able to be used with the Pioneer, so cannot give definitive answer. I do really enjoy my Pioneer, but still occasionally have to refer to the owners manual. The phone answering and the microphone work very well.

I don't have an IPhone, I have a Galaxy S5, so take this with a grain of salt. I can fully control selection of music and volume from the phone when it's in BLUETOOTH mode. In AUX mode, all the controlling comes from the receiver (track selection, volume, etc). Hope that helps.

Looking to perfect the equalizer. What settings do you use?
    lucas  Dec 01, 2015
    2 answers
    A
This is a personal preference. Since I dislike "tinny" high frequency sounds, I like a bell shaped curve on the equalizer, with emphasis on the low frequencies. My Suburban tends to cancel out low frequency sound, so that most of what I hear on the highway is high frequency. I can eliminate that effect by emphasis on the midrange and low frequencies. In town, at a stoplight, it may sound a little heavy on the bass, but on the road the total sound is where I like it.

All removable face head units must extend enough to get your fingers on the faceplate. If installed properly the Pioneer should only extend the depth of the black outer molding trim shown in the photo. Mine replaced a double-DIN head unit and included (no charge) a replacement dash panel with single-DIN opening. Looked perfect with minimal effort to install.

Is this an easy head unit to navigate? Thinking of giving this s a gift to a 17-year old and I do not want it to be overly difficult to use while she is driving. I want her to keep her eyes on the road, not the head unit.

I personally think this is one of the easiest aftermarket head units to navigate that I've ever used. Once Bluetooth is set up it automatically pairs to the phone so it's hands free calls and the music comes back when finished. We also use Pandora and that works really well also. My wife loves it and is able to navigate it just fine. She says it is the easiest one she has had to navigate also.

There is also a blue/white wire in the main harness on this unit which is for an antenna and amplifier turn on lead. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Can I BT pair iPod for music only and at the same time pair an Android phone for phone calls only?

    A
No, it can connect to 3 devices but can only use one at a time
    kyle  Oct 13, 2015
    A
NO, you can't. The Pioneer will store several device-pairing profiles, doesn't distinguish Apple vs Android vs anything-else. Pioneer only designed it for (1) BT connection at any time. Have tested it with (2) iPhones; and (1) iPhone + (1) Fire HD tablet. From a safety perspective you want your phone connected. From a sound quality perspective, you'd do better connecting the audio feed through the Aux jack, or USB port on the front face. Bluetooth audio has the limited dynamic range, it's like using an FM modulator - everything sounds muddy without crisp highs or deep bass.

It sounds like you have the +12vdc BATTERY, mixed up with the +12vdc ACC (Ignition Switch). The yellow wire from the unit must connect to the BATTERY. The red wire from the unit must connect to the ACC(IGNITION SWITCH). If they are mixed up it will do what you described.
    wendall  Aug 06, 2015

Make sure you have 12volts going to radio at all times. You have a red wire and a yellow wire that Red goes to battery and yellow goes to the ingiton I think that is right
    kenneth r  Aug 05, 2015

you have not hooked it up to a constant power source. you might have wired it to circuit that turns off with the ignition. hook it up straight to the battery or use a circuit tester to find a "hot" fuse, this will retain the memory. I used the wire harness from crutchfield which kept the "hot" circuit to the radio.

That is the only problem I have with this Pioneer DEH-X6700BS. This radio does not have the capability to retain stored info. once the battery is disconnected. Blutooth is retained although preprogrammed numbers will be lost. Other than this problem, the radio works great with clear phone and better than average sound.

The device does come with an external mic that is designed to be mounted on the sun visor. It is effective for making wireless/Bluetooth calls.

Yes it comes with the radio. I mounted the unit in my 2000 Ford F150. I drilled a small hold in the storage area of the provided bezel and installed the mic inside the area with a small portion (1/4 in) sticking out. This gives a center location which works well for passenger and driver use. The Bluetooth is clear from both sides.

THe mic isn't "built in"; it plugs into back and cord allows you to place where you want. Mine is on steering column behind wheel. And yes, it comes with radio.

When you add the Xm tuner can it be operated from the front of the radio? Or is it a separate tuner? How much is the Xm upgrade? Thanks

The SiriusXm tuner is operated 100% from the stereo controls. It has every feature of their best receiver and more. The upgrade for the tuner is currently at $70.00 from Crutchfield and I pay $16.00 a month for the All Access SiriusXM. (Note: When you order your service, there is a difference between "Sirius" & "SiriusXM. You want what the Pioneer says on the front, "SiriusXM". Great stereo and the Sirius tuner has performed flawlessly.

If you are listening to Satellite or just to the regular radio when your phone is paired will it interrupt the music for incoming calls and other alerts like navigation directions or do you need to have it on BT Audio for that?

Jason, as long as your phone Bluetooth is mated to the receiver, it will cut in on radio/satellite when you have a call. You do not have to have it on BT audio. It will cut in on BT audio if you have a call.....I listen to Bob and Tom replays a lot on my 3 hour drives to work sites, and it works great.
    henry  Jun 04, 2015

Yes, it will interrupt what ever is playing for you to answer and incoming call.

Does the volume knob have a function if the dial is pushed in? If so, how sensitive is it? I want to avoid a sensitive button so I don't accidentally push it when I reach to turn the volume dial.

When you press the volume knob it only displays "MENU". Just press the little "go Back" button to it's lower right and it will return to the normal display. It's a good quality button and won't easily push in unless you happen to hit a huge bump at the exact instant you touch it....IMHO.

It is used to activate Siri if held down and your phone is connected via Bluetooth. It is also used to access different menu features. I have used the deck for a year and have not accidentally accessed the menu, etc. The deck is high quality and performs very well.

What would cause a compatible iPod to no longer play music, when plugged in?? Mine worked perfectly before I installed a 5 channel amp,and a sub. Now, it shows the song/artist/album, but will NOT play song(s) any more. Tried a USB key with about 60 songs, of which 4 played! Those in MP3 format played, those in MP4 do not. What did I do wrong, if anything?? Help and/or information much appreciated.

After several emails, regarding the matter, it was suggested that I try a reset of my IPod. That let me play ONE song, but could NOT skip forward or back. I then tried he suggested restore of my iPod, and updated my music selection as well. When done, it worked as it should, perfectly. Still have the matter of my cell phone working. But, that wasn't as important, Since I rarely get phone calls, much less a text! Need to try again at some point.

I hadn't tried till I got your question, so plugged in my Samsung Galaxy S5 on the way home and it did indeed charge the phone. So in short, the answer is YES.

I don't know I've never tried it. I would guess not since it is a 12 volt system and cell phones charge on a 120 volt system. Pioneer would be the ones to ask for a sure answer.

I use it with my LG G3 and it works great. I will say this, I use the Bluetooth streaming over the usb cable because it just seems to be easier. The auto connect works great. Once I start the car the phone connects and starts to play. Also the hands free phone works great as well. You can answer calls with the phone in your pocket. So it's worked great with the G3.

Does this need an XM antenna added to the vehicle to receive the signal or does the receiver have the ability to receive signal?

The answer is yes and yes....the receiver is xm ready but you have to have the kit with the antenna to listen to it if your car doesn't already have it installed....I purchased mine with the radio and it works great...strongest darn magnet in the antenna I ever saw. The adaper/tuner device I installed behind the radio and wire tied to the FM antenna cable, then ran the thin wire for the xm antenna through the dash to the passenger door, into the weather seal, then to the roof just above the windsheild on the passenger side.

I was told by dealer that is going to install that I need a special wiring harness at $75.00...does the wiring harness that is included with reciever not work?

Use Crutchfield's lookup tools for your car. It will tell exactly what you need, and should show the cost. My Pioneer didn't include the harness, but that's minimal cost (less than $20). Mine also included the dash panel perfectly shaped for my car, since the Pioneer isn't as tall as the factory unit. In fairness... I've done head units in a few cars, and never spent more than $25 on a harness. Your dealer asking $75 is a huge joke.
