    Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

this Pioneer stereo was easy to install ,looks good sounds great but I have only had it in my truck for a week or so and twice it sounded like it was skipping on a track being played through my I phone so not sure what to think about that the same track I played it again and no skipping so wondering if it could be an issue with the stereo head unit ? blue tooth works great !

Pros: easy install, sound quality , blue tooth , mixtrax display

Cons: no power off button, possible issue with head unit skipping

Pioneer has never done me wrong. I actually had a MyGIG system in my Jeep, satellite, gps, touchscreen hard drive.. the works. However, given my phone does all that and more now, I chose the path of a "downgrade" where the stereo is simply an interface for my phone. Wow! Despite the bells and whisltes of the factory radio, that thing was holding the system back. This things sounds incredible and couldn't be easier to use.

Good sound easy to set up with good FM reception and plenty of features. I am not sure the MIx trac function will be valuable as I am not really looking to b teh DJ in my car, just want to hear the music. The display is bright and easy to read, colr matches my existing gauges which is nice.

Pros: Good FM, plenty of volume , adjustable lighting

Cons: Not sure what the benefit of the mix trac function but I guess in a different environment it might be fun.

I absolutely love this radio. Did not know I could make the keys and main display different colors also. I'm doing a red/white color theme on/in my lowered truck so it looks amazing. An awesome radio for an awesome price. I've told my friends to come to the website to shop for theirs also. Will be doing more business here in the future.

Pros: The lights and sound are awesome. Can hook up my phone and iPod through the Bluetooth instead of a big aux chord hanging out in the dash. I love the adapters for the sides to make it flush with the rest of the console too!

It's been over thirty years since I owned a Pioneer car receiver, so it's nice to know they are still one of the leaders in car stereos. I bought this unit to replace a Parrot Asteroid POS that I bought years ago that just never worked well. What a breath of fresh air when I finished installation and powered this unit up for the first time. I was used to a head unit that would take almost a minute to boot up and enter user mode. Comparatively, this unit boots up, finds my iPhone on bluetooth and automatically starts playing in a bout ten seconds. This sounds like a simple function, but my old Parrot unit made you push a button, turn a dial, select bluetooth, THEN press another button to start playback EVERY TIME IT BOOTED UP! Don't get me started. . .

Another thorn in my paw with the old unit was sound quality. Parrot may know how to design bluetooth devices, but they have NO idea how to process and playback audio. There were always unnatural artifacts in the audio stream such as pumping, breathing, rumbling and thumping, not to mention a brash and brittle high end. To the contrary, the 720 is another excellent example of Pioneers' decades of designing and building some of the best sounding and best performing head units on the market. The sound is clear, well balanced, and has no oddball artifacts in the audio to pollute the music. It just delivers a clean, well-balanced audio signal to your speakers.

Pros: * Clean, clear sound. No noise or unwanted artifacts. * Easy to use and set up. No heavy manual reading. * Adjustable color schemes allow easy match to any car's dash illumination. * Excellent bluetooth operation. Starts playing music within 10 to 15 seconds of startup. * Can be set to dim the display with the dashboard lights. * Source level adjustment allows you to adjust for too-quiet or too-loud sources. * 5-band EQ plus 3-level loudness contour, as well as adjust

Cons: * Single line display means a lot of scrolling. Could have been much better with two or three lines. * No elapsed time on track info display. You can switch to an elapsed-time only display, however (nit-picky). * Main display can be difficult to see in bright sun, just like every other stereo head unit on the market.

    I love it!

The main reason for replacing my factory stereo, which was working fine & sounded great, was because I wanted an aux or usb port to play song files. Mine only had a CD player & a cassette player. I didn't really need another CD player...I haven't even owned a CD in years, but I still ended up buying this one just because of the light show & price, lol. I love the lights & colors, but the sound is pretty awesome too! I didn't even change the factory speakers & it sounds amazing!

It was pretty easy to install. The only problem I came across was the blue/white wire on the stereo...there's only one, but it's supposed to trigger either an amp or a power antenna. My car has a power antenna & apparently has a factory amp too, because when I connected just the antenna, there was power to the stereo, but no sound. So it was either go without my antenna or go without sound, so I just connected both to the blue/white wire & now everything works...so far. There was nowhere in the instructions where it said you could hook them both up together, but there was nothing saying you shouldn't either. I'm definitely not an expert, so I don't know.

Pros: Awesome looking, amazing sound, great price

    Cons: None

Cons: Difficulty figuring out controls. Screen brightness control.

I bought this unit to install in a 2002 Toyota Tacoma Truck I just got. I packed my cd's away 7 years ago, all my music is digital and on my I-pod.The install was a half hour on the bench soldering the wires together for the adapter harness and then wire nuts & tape. the actual install in the truck was not quite an hour and went very smooth. Kudo's to Crutchfield they make this easy and the install guide is excellent. As to the unit itself very nice looking and you can change the lighting leds to match your dash & interior. The menu's are easy to navigate and setup. This made the speakers come alive, I have it set for vocals with +1 on bass and favoring the rear speakers +1 . My music runs from sixties oldie's to seventies rock and a lot of singer songwriter songs.I ordered a sans ultra memory stick to load the music on. When in the unit it only sticks out 1/ 4 of an inch and holds 32 gig , I have over four thousand songs loaded in three folders Oldies,Country and all my favorites. I cannot say enough nice things about this receiver if you buy it you won't be disappointed.

    Pros: Great looking ,wonderful features

    Cons: None

I am rating the sound quality at a 3 only because I haven't upgraded my car speakers and I can't listen to the stereo at it's full capacity.

Pros: LOVE IT! It is easy to use and sync's perfectly with my Samsung, I just hop in and start the car...the stereo plays where it left off on my phone.

Cons: The rear bracket that came with the unit so it would fit in my car didn't have a clear place to attach it. It didn't prevent me from installing the stereo nor has it affected it adversely.

I bought this for my daughters Subaru to replace the factory installed stereo. Customer service was excellent,as always. They made sure I had everything I was need to make the install correct and easy as could be. It did not take much time and everything fit properly. I purchased the Pioneer because I've had them in the past. The sound quality is pretty good. My daughter wanted the Bluetooth capability. She is very happy with that. Linked right up with her iPhone . Good voice clarity, She said its easy to use. She likes the optional color backgrounds. She has experimented with its many options and has personalized it to her specific needs and desires. I would recommend it to everyone.

Pros: Not very difficult to install, many options for customization, Bluetooth capability with steering wheel controls. Great tech support! And a happy kid.

Cons: She has been very happy with everything so far.

This is my first purchase of a Pioneer stereo and I am very impressed with this unit. I am not an audiophile. I was simply looking for a good price on a great sounding unit. I did not want to change the look of my vehicle, so fitting the existing spot was important. I have to say that I think this unit delivered everything I was looking for and even more. The installation was very simple. Operation is pretty easy to figure out and to top it all off it is a great value. I really expected the Bluetooth setup to be more difficult. When I finished, all I could say was "That's it??"

Pros: Value, Bluetooth, Easy installation & setup.

Cons: None that I have found.

Great receiver from the van. Sound was great and controls are easy to use. For what I paid for it,I feel like it was a great deal. Blue tooth synced pretty fast and works good. Calls through the receiver are great. Just a good cd player with blue tooth. Really like it and Pioneer I have always had good luck with. Crutchfield had a great price and great customer service.

Pros: Blue tooth. Display colors change or go with stock to match factory color. Call quality is great. Cd player is solid.

Cons: None, it has alot of different functions. So some people might see that as a con. Once you figure out what they all do,it really is easy to use.

You can't miss with this one for function and value. Huge upgrade over my stock head unit and the Bluetooth is seamless and sounds great with my iPhone 6. I spent a lot of time comparing to JVC, Clarion, Alpine and Kenwood entry level double DIN...in the end I simply bought on price. Great news is that it is perfect form my needs

Pros: Bluetooth connectivity is seamless with iphone 6. Easy to answer, hold and hang up. Estimate 2-3 seconds between ending call and resumption of streaming music from phone.

Cons: Menu to adjust equalizer is too complex. It's buried with illumination, etc. There's lots of real estate wasted without an easy "Audio" button to tweak bass and treble.

The unit works well in my 2000 Accord. Initially I had a problem because the manual didn't say what color wires went to what, but Crutchfield customer support was awesome. They told me which wires matched and everything was fine. Even the steering wheel controls work. It's the most helpful and comprehensive customer support I've ever used.

Pros: Bluetooth works really well with my Samsung Galaxy 6 and Spotify. Phone calls are good too. Sound is clear and microphone picks up well.

Cons: Can't find a color to exactly match the backlight. Being made of plastic, the buttons feel light and cheap, as if they might break if you push on them too hard.

Pros: Bluetooth easy to use and set up multiple devices saved and switched between. Sound clear and mixer adds to entertainment value between songs. 3mm port helps with retaining the steering wheel controls. Adjustable lighting that can b dimmed at night but bright enough during the day. Overall a great unit!

Cons: Remote is small and easily misplaced but who needs it anyway. Voice commands could be on unit instead of through the phone but for the price who can gripe..

Pros: Price, Sound clarity, Bluetooth features

Cons: Installation for Subaru could have been clearer. Some parts included that were not necessary.

A lot of deck for the money looks nice. Has a 1000 color combs in deck. You can lock it into one color once you navigate though the menu. The sound is nice .Bass is heavy and you can tweak it in custom setup or go with presets. Its nice to use Blue tooth or USB or input to excess all your music sources.I like to use a large memory stick and store and update 1000s of songs on stick and have it all with me no matter which car I am in. I have another Pioneer DVD dash unit in Motor home so for me the memory sticks a solid library on the move with me. The Focus st has a factory sub in the trunk and with the proper wiring from Crutchfield sent that made the whole install easy along with a adapter wire that was a snap to connect to factory amp to sub. I have found its best t shop price but when you buy from Crutchfield they send for free all the items to make the install a snap plus a call center to assist if you get confused as I did with where to wire in the adapter wire for sub, On a 5 min call made me me understand it all simply. In closing you cant beat the whole package that comes in one price. Pioneer stuff is top shelf.

Pros: perfect fit with installation products. Was easy to install in 05 focus with factory ford subw in focus st. Cruchfield provided all the right wires ti make everything a snap. Sound is great unit looks good in dash

Cons: There is a lot to learn to get through menu to set all settings or understand just where they are. Same with lightning . After playing with it for an hour you get it but if your not a tinker around and play with stuff kind of person then it gets a little frustrating at first but its all good in the end.

My wife immediately fell in love with this . It'll take a few days to figure out all of the settings and capabilities , but she already loves the bluetooth hands free phone and being able to play media from her smartphone . She posted a pic online and now a friend wants the same radio . Outstanding buy and simple installation with the kit that Crutchfield provides . I had to call support on a Sunday to ask about one of the connections and I had an answer immediately . No wonder I keep coming back over the years .

Pros: Simple installation , you just have to know how to take you specific vehicle apart . Crutchfield had the exact adapters I needed . Great sound . Much better than the stock radio . Awesome capabilities . Hands free phone , stream music from Pandora or from files on your phone . Looks great , you can set the display up in many colors and combinations . Really reasonable price . Outstanding "bang for the buck" . Made my wife happy , which makes me happy .

Cons: Pioneer didn't supply a User's guide , and the color coding and legend of their harness was a bit difficult to decipher , while the Metra adapter had clearly decipherable coloration and labeling .

I was nervous it would not compare to my factory Bose system in my 1999 Infiniti QX4. However, using the accessories recommended during purchase, all installed perfectly without any issues. The sound was very nice upon initial power ON. It took a few days to get the EQ set up to where I like it. Navigating the menus is a learning process.

Pros: Great sound. Cool lights. I love the Bluetooth feature. Phone calls hands free via the radio is just too cool.

Cons: Navigating the menus feels awkward. I naturally want to push the volume knob to turn radio Off, but that's not how it works. It prolly took me 10 minutes to figure out how to power it Off. I know, that's what instructions are for, right? I have yet to read them. Lol. I will one day.

Bought this receiver to replace a busted Mach 460 deck in a Ford Mustang. Speakers were fine, so only the receiver was replaced. With wiring harness and 12v-5v adapter, it wired up easily and plugged in perfectly. Installation took less than an hour, including crimping the wires. Audio quality is significantly better, and this is a good test of the receiver because all other components stayed the same. All the bells and whistles you can want: Aux port, USB port, Bluetooth, multiple display modes and colors. Audio is extremely customizable. Do your homework on high pass filters and subwoofer eq settings. It took me a lot longer to get the audio quality dialed in than to install it. Now I have great sound at a great price!

Pros: Great audio quality, easy install, multiple features, and great value.

Cons: Instructions don't explain the audio settings. Not just your basic treble, mid, and bass. You will have to do your homework to dial it in.

This Pioneer receiver is the cream of the crop. It smoothly integrates with my mobile, the included directional mic works flawlessly with Siri and with minimal noise for those who receive my calls, and the sound is great! Installation of the receiver was simple and effortless with the most work being the crimping of wires together for the wire harness. Everything else was a cinch! If I had to make one knock against the system, it would be that the Mixtrax mode is not all that it is cracked up to be (though I really wasn't expecting anything spectacular from it). It is a neat feature, to be sure, but not a reason to buy this product. Everything else is the reason to make a purchase when it comes time to upgrade your car's sound system.

Pros: Clear sound, easy to use, included directional microphone is excellent, smooth installation, looks cool

    Cons: Mixtrax is meh

Great for a simple factory replacement. It made the factory speakers come alive.

Pros: Great value for the price. I got it on sale for 119.99. Greatly improved sound over factory head unit. I thought I was going to have to replace the speakers also, but once Installed this head unit the factory speakers came to life.

Cons: It serves its purpose. I was merely trying to replace the factory radio because the face got damaged. As a factory replacement it does great. However I would not use it to run a higher end audio setup.

Fit perfect w/out the kit. Looks great & display colors available match my vete's display perfectly. Only issue was with connector purchased... It was about 10ft longer than needed....stuffed it away in rear storage. Works & looks like it was always there.

Pros: Perfect fit. Sound is great. Looks good.

Cons: Connector cable purchased separately was way too long.....worked w/ it.

I love love love this receiver. Installed it in my 2008 Toyota corolla. It was really easy to install for me. Had to buy some tools to make it easier but it was straight forward from there. The Pioneer guide and manual was pretty useless for install but thanks to crutchfield for providing the additional guide, harness and dash kit. The bluetooth works great and the sound quality is clear. Have no problems with pairing. Great investment.

Pros: Ease of Install. "Coolness Factor" . Hands free calling. Decent price point

    Cons: None yet

I have had this stereo since May15, worked well for a couple of months then my display would go on and off. when it went blank I could tap on the screen and it would come back on. After numerous emails to Pioneer customer service they wanted me to drive an hour and 45 minutes to a repair facility. I wanted them to send me a new unit along with a box to send them back the old, faulty unit. They haven't responded to my 2 emails yet and I don't think they will.

Pros: Just an ok unit, if I had to do it all over again I would buy a Kenmore or Sony. The display is nice and the multiple color option is cool. Hard to see in the daylight though even when brightness is turned all the way up.

Cons: Customer service is terrible. I also had a hard time getting the exact quality of sound in my unit. I would go with a larger equalizer.

Pioneer claims to supply an instruction manual; this is actually a list of features with a casual discussion of where the feature attributes are located in the menus. 9 out of 10 complaints on forums are due to the nearly useless instructions. Understanding features will require hours searching the internet for hints from owners and in reviews. If you purchase one of these expect many hours to research and experiment to understand how the features can be controlled and adjusted.

Ratings: Bluetooth; Pioneer seems to have a problem with Bluetooth connectivity. This may be due to manufacturing defects as some owners report good results. In my case I have a phone that will connect with a 5 yr old BlueAnt hands free device over 20 feet away through multiple walls; but not to a Pioneer stereo from 1 foot. Will pair but will not connect for any function . Sound Quality seems v.good Ease of Use: no instructions worth reading Coolness: don't really care but coolness would be better if I could set the feature attributes Build Quality: unknown with out long term experience

My 30+ years experience with product design, manufacturing and quality systems makes me suspect this is a low cost design with low cost manufacturing, from a company giving limited attention to customer experience.

    Pros: Long list of features

Cons: No instruction on how to use features; suspect design and manufacturing quality

I bought this to replace the failed CD player/radio in my '07 Mustang. I would never buy this radio again and I'm very disappointed in Pioneer. It seems the main attraction is the stupid flashing lights - definitely not the radio. Its hands-free Bluetooth capability is totally unreliable with my Samsung Galaxy phone. When switching bands/modes on radio it insists on showing you a light show on each button push before it acts on your button push ... definitely not desirable while driving! Pioneer designed this for the visual whiz factor - not for a useful car radio. If you want a Pioneer spend $100 more and get better quality.

    Pros: Cheap.

Cons: Cheap and unreliable construction. Unreliable hands-free. Too much focus on glitzy flashing lights and not on basic radio performance.

Great price for a really nice stereo.

Pros: Price point Quality product Good brand name Great support

Cons: Ease of use, as there is so much this stereo can do, but only a limited number of buttons.
