Built-in Bluetooth®

You can answer a call coming in on your compatible phone with the push of a button on the receiver. You'll talk as if your caller is sitting next to you, freeing up your hands and letting you concentrate on the drive. The FH-X720BT supports Bluetooth audio streaming too, so you can stream music wirelessly from compatible devices to the receiver, plus control basic functions like track up or down.

Want to keep your steering wheel controls?

In most cars, you'll need an adapter to retain those controls with a new car stereo. Check “Details” for more information, and the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters. If you're not sure if you need an adapter, call, chat, or email an Advisor for help determining what you'll need for your vehicle.

Note: Bluetooth compatibility of this device may vary, depending on your phone and service provider.

iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth 3.0: The FH-X720BT is equipped with built-in Bluetooth (ver. 3.0), allowing you to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver; as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit.  In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile), OPP 1.1 (Object Push Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.5 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Pioneer FH-X720BT.

SPP + USB Pairing w/ Guest Mode: With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the FH-X720BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings (your phone must also support SSP). Up to 3 Bluetooth-compatible devices can be paired to this head unit.

    • USB Pairing for iPhone: You can also pair your Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) by simply connecting it to the Pioneer head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display.
    • Guest Mode: "Guest Mode" allows you to add and replace a 3rd mobile device instantly to the receiver; Guest Mode is a great feature for a family vehicle with multiple drivers or a driver with multiple devices because it allows users to pair and delete devices easily without a lengthy registration or deletion process.
    • Dual Phone Connect: Once the pairing process is complete, the head unit will automatically connect two phones when in the vehicle to make and receive calls and stream music from both mobile devices.

Hands-Free Communication (w/ External Mic): The FH-X720BT supports wireless hands-free communication (HFP/PBAB) for your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone. And, thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the FH-X720BT provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The head unit will display the caller's information and an audible ring tone will be heard through your vehicle's speaker during an incoming call. You can manually answer an incoming call or have the unit automatically answer the call. The FH-X720BT allows you to carry on a phone conversation from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone using the head unit's external microphone and your car audio speakers. During a conversation you can adjust the volume, as well as switch between the Private Mode (talking directly on your cell phone) and the Hands Free Mode. Using the FH-X720BT, you can dial a phone number in one of the following ways:

    • Phone Book: The phone book in your Bluetooth enabled cellular phone will be transferred automatically when the phone is paired to this unit. After finding the number you want to call in the phone book from the head unit, you can select the entry and make the call. If a lot of numbers are registered in the phone book, you can search for a phone number by the contact person's name alphabetically (A-Z).
    • Presets: You can easily store up to six phone numbers as presets for speed dialing.
    • Call Log: The most recent calls dialed, received, and missed are stored in memory. You can browse them and call numbers from these lists.
    • Voice Dialing (Siri only): When paired and connected with an iPhone 4S or later via Bluetooth, the Pioneer head unit has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. You'll be able to dial a phone number or contact via voice command.
Note: The external microphone provides better performance in noisy environments than the integrated microphone found on the front-panel of many aftermarket or factory radios. The microphone features a 13' cord that plugs into the back of the radio, and comes with an adjustable visor-mount clip. The microphone measures 0.475" (diameter) x 1.445" (depth). The unit is not equipped with an integrated microphone.

Wireless Audio Streaming (w/ Advanced Music Navigation): The Pioneer FH-X720BT also supports wireless audio playback (AD2P) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth enabled audio player or smartphone. The head unit can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or music apps you have downloaded on your device. In addition to basic playback functions (Play/Pause, FF/RW, Skip, Random/Repeat), the FH-X720BT lets you browse your stored music by Playlist, Artist, Album, Song, etc. (AVRCP 1.4+ phones only). The head unit will also display your music's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (app must also support). When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call.

Siri Eyes-Free Control: When paired and connected with an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth (not USB), the Pioneer FH-X720BT has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. Simply press and hold head unit's phone key to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the FH-X720BT and its microphone. You can even ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Siri. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Note: The head unit's LCD touchscreen will only display hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the Pioneer DVD receiver; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).

    Disc & USB (Android) Playback

Compatible Discs: The Pioneer FH-X720BT CD receiver supports playback of CD-Audio, CD-R, and CD-RW discs. This unit can play MP3, WMA, and WAV files recorded on CD-R and CD-RW discs

Front-Panel USB Input (Android Compliant): The CD receiver's front-panel USB (type-A) port allows you to connect a USB Mass Storage Class (MSC) or USB Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) compliant device; such as your Android smartphone or USB thumbdrive. The USB port enables audio playback & control of MP3, WMA, and WAV audio files stored on your portable USB MSC/MTP device through the Pioneer FH-X720BT. Basic playback controls included Play/Pause, FW/RW, Previous/Next Track, and Random/Repeat. Song/artist information such as track, artist, and album name will also be displayed on the head unit. In addition, USB devices that can be charged via USB will be charged when plugged into the CD receiver's USB port (1A) and the vehicle's ignition switch is set to ACC or On.

    • MSC Playback: The Pioneer FH-X720BT's USB port enables playback & control of MP3/WMA/WAV music files stored on your portable USB MSC device, like your older Android smartphone (w/ OS 2.2+ [Froyo/Gingerbread]) or USB thumbdrive device (up to 32GB) through the head unit.
    • MTP Playback: The FH-X720BT's USB port also enables playback & control of stored MP3/WMA music files on your portable USB MTP device, like your newer Android smartphone (w/ OS 4.0+ [Ice Cream Sandwich/Jelly Bean/KitKat]) through the Pioneer head unit.
Note: You cannot use your Android smartphone's touchscreen to control music playback and you cannot select music apps from your smartphone for playback. However, you can continue to listen to stored music on your Android smartphone through the head unit while you check your Calendar, Facebook, Texts, etc on your phone.

MP3/WMA/WAV Playback: The Pioneer FH-X720BT supports the following types of MP3/WMA/WAV files recorded onto CD-R/RW disc or loaded onto a USB MSC/MTP device.

Auxiliary Input: The FH-X720BT is equipped with a front-panel 3.5mm stereo minijack auxiliary input for connecting external components, such as a portable MP3 player.

    AM/FM + Pandora Radio

Supertuner IIID AM/FM Tuner: The Supertuner IIID features Feed Forward Control, which avoids multi-path interference. This pre-detection of interference enables quick filter control and results in less distortion. In addition, the Supertuner IIID creates enhanced stereo during multi-path interference, unlike conventional tuners that collapse to mono. Digital processing reduces distortion, and improves Signal-to-Noise Ratio and stereo separation. Advanced analog technology improves signal processing sensitivity.

    • RDS: The Radio Data System (RDS) feature displays radio broadcast information such as artist, title, and album when listening to compatible AM/FM stations.
    • BSM (Best Stations Memory): The BSM (Best Stations Memory) function lets you automatically store the six strongest stations under preset buttons 1-6 of the currently tuned band. The tuner has 3 FM banks and 1 AM bank. You can store 6 presets for each bank giving you a total of 18 FM presets and 6 AM presets.
    • Local Tuning: Local seek tuning lets you tune in only those radio stations with sufficiently strong signals for good reception. There are 4 levels of sensitivity for FM and two levels for AM. The higher settings allow reception of only the strongest stations, while lower settings let you receive progressively weaker stations.

Pandora Internet Radio: The free Pandora App (either from iTunes Apps/Google Play) lets you play music from the Pandora music service through the Pioneer FH-X720BT using your USB-connected Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) or Bluetooth paired Android smartphone. Your Apple iPhone must be connected to the FH-X720BT via the CD-IU51/CD-IU52 Pioneer iPod connector cable or the connector-cable that came with your iPhone. Your Android smartphone must support A2DP/AVRCP/SPP Bluetooth profiles and be paired with the Pioneer receiver. Your iPhone or Android smartphone will also need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. The FH-X720BT provides control over the Pandora music service and displays Artist, Album, and Song information.

    • Station List: You can select Pandora stations from your Station List by date or alphabetically (A-Z).
    • Shuffle Station List: You can listen to songs played randomly from various stations within your Station List.
    • New Stations + Delete: New stations can be created based on the current songs or artists playing. You can also delete a station from your Pandora station list.
    • Skip Songs: You can skip song tracks within a station. You cannot skip back to a previous song. Pandora limits the number of skips allowed.
    • Thumbs Up/Down: You can give songs a thumbs up or thumbs down to help Pandora personalize stations to suit your preferences.
    • Bookmarking: The song/artist currently being played can be bookmarked & stored in your Pandora account.

Note: Access to the Pandora service will depend on the availability of a cellular and/or WiFi network for purposes of allowing your iPhone to connect to the Internet. Pandora is not supported in Canada & only available in the United States.

    Audio Section

24 Bit D/A Converter: The Pioneer in-dash head unit utilizes a 24-bit digital to analog converter for superior sound quality.

MOSFET Amplifier: The FH-X720BT is equipped with a MOSFET amplifier. Compared to conventional power supplies, the MOSFET amplification circuit is smaller and more efficient, and it delivers increased power with less distortion and absolutely zero on/off switching noise. More power means louder and cleaner music at higher volumes because you're not pushing the limits of the amplification circuit. The power specifications for the FH-X720BT are compliant with the CEA2006 Mobile Amplifier Power Testing and Measurement standards from the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards were developed as a way to equitably compare power specs from model to model and between manufacturers.

    • CEA2006 Specs: 14 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 1% THD-N)
    • Continuous Power Output: 22 watts RMS x 4 channels (at 4 ohms, 50Hz-15kHz, 5% THD)
    • Maximum Power Output: 50 watts x 4 channels
Note: The rear speaker outputs can be set to provide full range output with full fading capability, or they can be set to provide non-fading subwoofer (low-pass) output. When the rear speaker outputs are set to subwoofer mode, the rear preamp outputs also switch from full range to subwoofer outputs. When set for subwoofer operation, you can connect the rear speaker leads directly to two small 4-ohm passive subwoofers or a dual voice coil sub with 4-ohm voice coils. If you prefer to use a single 2-ohm subwoofer, you can connect the woofer to one set of speaker leads, leaving the other set of rear leads disconnected. The maximum output provided when a 2-ohm load is connected to one set of leads is 70 watts.

4ch/2V Preouts: The Pioneer FH-X720BT features two pair of 2.0-volt preouts. The unit's Rear/SW preouts can be configured as fading rear-channel outputs or a non-fading subwoofer outputs. When the head unit's RW/SW preouts are configured as a subwoofer output, you can select the frequency of the low pass filter (50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or 125 Hz), select the filter slope (-6/-12dB), select the subwoofer phase (normal/reverse), and the subwoofer gain (+6 to -24).

Equalizer: The Pioneer FH-X720BT features a Preset & Custom EQ. The built-in equalizer offers 7 preset sound modes (Powerful, Dynamic, Vocal, Natural, Custom 1, Custom 2, and Flat) suitable for the music genre of your choice. The two Custom modes allow you to manually adjust the head unit's 5-band EQ (80Hz, 250Hz, 800Hz, 2.5kHz, 8kHz) from +/-6dB. Custom 1 can be set separately for each source (except for USB/iPod/Pandora); while Custom 2 and the other 5 presets are shared settings used for all sources.

High-Pass Crossover: When you don't want low-frequency sound to be heard through your front or rear speakers, you can simply active the head unit's HPF (high pass filter). By activating the HPF, only frequencies higher than those in the selected range are output from the front or rear speakers. The high pass filter crossover can be set to 50Hz, 63Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 125Hz, 160hz, 200Hz or Off. The slope level of the HPF can also be adjusted to -6dB or 12dB.

Advanced Sound Retriever: The Advanced Sound Retriever automatically enhances compressed audio and restores the original richness of the recording. Hear the detail, warmth, and clarity, the way the artist intended it, from all of your highly compressed MP3 and WMA files stored on your USB thumbdrive, Android smartphone, iPod/iPhone, or Bluetooth device. By restoring data (especially higher frequencies) that tends to get lost in the digital compression process, Pioneer's Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances audio reproduction nearly all the way up to 20 kHz frequencies

Audio Level Settings: The Pioneer FH-X720BT CD receiver offers a variety of audio settings to tailor the bass, treble, and volume level to your preference.

    • Bass Boost The FH-X720BT features a bass boost function which can be used to enhance low-frequency bass sound. The bass boost function can be set between 0-6.
    • Loudness: The Loudness feature compensates for deficiencies in the low and high sound ranges at low volume. You can set the Loudness feature to Low, Mid, High, or Off.
    • Source Level Adjustment (SLA): This function lets you adjust the volume level of each source to prevent radical changes in volume when switching between sources. Settings are based on the volume level of the FM tuner, which remains unchanged. Each source can be independently adjusted from -4dB to +4dB.

MIXTRAX: Drawing from Pioneer's rich DJ heritage and passion for music, MIXTRAX delivers a unique DJ infused listening experience to listeners in the car. MIXTRAX is an innovative Pioneer technology that creates a non-stop mix of your music library complete with a range of DJ-inspired effects. MIXTRAX takes your typical music listening experience and creates a non-stop mix of your music with 9 random DJ effects and transitions, by removing the breaks and pauses normally introduced between tracks and replacing them with various beats. MIXTRAX is compatible with USB-connected iPhone, iPod, USB MSC device, and select Android devices. There is also a Short Playback option which limits the amount of time each track plays; select from 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 minutes.

Note: The MIXTRAX function does not work in App mode or with the Pandora App for iPod/iPhone, and is not supported by USB MTP devices. The Advanced Sound Retriever function is disabled when MIXTRAX is activated.

    Display Features

Color Customization: Color Customization lets the user match their receiver illumination to their vehicle's interior lighting. Over 210,000 colors are available to match the illumination of almost any car. The button illumination and display illumination colors can be customized separately for an endless number of color combinations. You can select from 5 preset colors (White/Red/Amber/Green/Blue), customize an illumination color (by adjusting Red/Blue/Green brightness levels), or scan through a variety of colors.

Brightness Control: You can manually adjust the brightness (1-10) of the head unit's display to suit your viewing needs. You can also sync the receiver's illumination to the head units' clock or your vehicle's headlights. To dim the receiver's display automatically when the vehicle's headlights are turned on, you'll need to hardwire the orange/white wire of the head unit's harness to your vehicle's parking light circuit.

MIXTRAX Illumination: MIXTRAX features a club-style illumination that enhances the mood with a dynamic dance club-like lighting effect. As MIXTRAX begins, lights start pulsing to the beat of the music, adding an extra level of entertainment. You can choose different patterns of lighting variations from sound pressure level or low-pass synchronization modes. The lighting effects work like a spectrum analyzer, reaching peak colors based on the intensity of the music.

Clock Display: When the Clock Display has been turned on, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns off audio output, but the clock display and button illumination remains on (you can press the "DISP" button to turn off). When the Clock Display has been turned off, pressing and holding the "SRC" button turns the unit off completely. Even if you have turned the radio completely off you can view the clock display by pressing the "DISP" button. The clock will then remain On until you turn it back Off. When the unit is On, you can choose to have the clock display during playback of each source.

Demo Mode: This unit features a Demo mode which can be turned On/Off within the menu.

2-DIN Chassis: The Pioneer FH-X720BThas a 2-DIN chassis (also known as "Double -DIN"), and will fit in many vehicles with a large dash opening. The unit can be ISO-mounted using factory brackets. There is also an optional double-DIN sleeve (130ADTV133, sold separately) available for this unit that will allow you to Euro-mount or custom mount the Pioneer head unit in  your vehicle. As always, please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to verify fit with your vehicle.

    Remote Control

Wireless Remote Control: The FH-X720BT comes with an IR wireless remote control. The remote allows you to control the volume, switch between sources, pause playback, skip music tracks, change display info, and answer/end Bluetooth phone call. You can also mute the volume (function that cannot be performed from the front panel).

Steering Wheel Remote Compatibility: The head unit features an OEM steering wheel remote control input on the rear of the unit that lets you keep your vehicle's factory radio steering wheel remote controls when used with an optional steering wheel audio control adapter (sold separately). Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car to see if your vehicle is compatible.

great upgrade to my factory radio

Written By PeterB, Higganum, CT on Wednesday, October 15, 2014
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very happy with this. Replaced my factory stereo in my 2004 Nissan Frontier. Even using the stock speakers, the upgrade to sound was tremendous, much cleaner and clearer midrange, decent highs and the Nissan speakers always had good bass (almost too much). I like the subtly shifting colors as it plays. Bluetooth and iPod functionality are great and the radio and CD player is solid.
    Pros:
    - Good upgrade to sound in a value package - Attractive
    Cons:
    - Hard to see screen in certain lighting, especially around dusk or dawn with headlights on.

Wanted to upgrade my factory head unit, this hit the spot! Super easy iPod control and great looks and sounds
    Pros:
Excellent iPod control and awesome light customization. Sounds better than stock head unit
    Cons:
Doesn't leave alot of room to fit wires around inside dash, especially if you need any kind of special adapters for your vehicle.

This receiver unit will absolutely dazzle anyone that rides with you in your vehicle. Love the vivid and stunning array of colors in the mixtrax effects. I definitely achieved more than I set out to do with this stereo. Sounds great and plenty of power. Very tunable equalizer to get the most effective sound out of your vehicle's sound system. The Bluetooth works flawless with the IPhone very simple. Ipod jack is another simple and intuitive feature. just plug in and listen. The radio is an awesome value for the money. the radio is great, but I would like to take a few words to brag on the Crutchfield tech support. This is by far, one of the best tech support lines I have ever called for any product not just stereo equipment. Very personable and experienced techs on the phone will to go the distance to give you what ever troubleshooting and installation advice you will need and time is of no concern to them. They will hang with you till you get everything resolved. big thumbs up and Five star rating to a first class tech support team. Those guys are real pros!
    Pros:
very visual and colorful experience with your music, flawless Bluetooth connectivity, especially with the iPhone. very easy Ipod functions. Lots of colors for personalization.
    Cons:
Mixtrax slightly gets ahead of itself with the meshing in of the songs. cuts the songs a little short at the beginning and the end, but still well worth it.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Big bang for buck. Sound is fantastic, makes my factory speakers sound noticeably better. Has bluetooth connectivity, which works great, though I wish the mic was wireless. My only criticism is that the menus are a little complicated. You wouldn't want to make audio/EQ adjustments while driving. Crutchfield advisor was great in helping me figure out what to do with a couple of the wires that were not covdred in the instructions and did not match up with the steering wheel/factory amp adapter. So, in the box installation instructions weren't great. Even the Crutchfield master sheet did not include any details whatsoever about connecting wires...only removing the old head unit. So, if you're using an adapter, expect to need a phone call to get some help. (unless you're very experienced, which I am not). That said, once installed, i'm very happy.
    Pros:
Sound, iPhone connectivity, blue tooth, cool looks, legible display, Crutchfield phone hellp
    Cons:
wired bluetooth mic, arcane installation instructions, complicated/multi-level menus to make adjustments.

This radio is everything I had expected for the price. It works smoothly, has plenty of adjustments for tuning your speakers/subwoofers just right, lots of color and brightness settings to suit your dash or mood and time of day. Good clean sound to the speakers and way more powerful than an oem radio. Overall great buy
    Pros:
Bluetooth control Automatic brightness adjustments by clock Wide range Equalizer / Subwoofer control
    Cons:
Mitrax colors should work with any audio I feel but only works through certain connections. Barely a Con

I installed the unit a couple weeks ago and I have had no problems whatsoever. The final install looks professional and clean. The stereo sounds and looks great.
    Pros:
Its a great product for the price!
    Cons:
The only problem I can find, and its not a really bad one, is when I push the SRC button it squeaks a little. This is the only reason i knocked the Build Quality down a star.

Great radio for the price, has a lot of the features I was looking for: BT Audio, disappointed that the display is limited to one line. You cannot see the time if the track info is being displayed, this can be annoying especially if you are not using a watch. Using the stereo to access your contacts to make a call is a bit cumbersome but you are given 6 presets for your most called numbers. Pandora or BT Audio connects and starts playback automatically. I have a problem every once in a while when trying to connect to my device but it may be my phone (Galaxy S4) not the stereo.
    Pros:
BT Audio and Pandora compatibility; price
    Cons:
Cannot display time and track information at the same time. Making calls from stereo can be cumbersome

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was starting to have issues with the factory unit in my 2007 Toyota Rav4 and I came across this while searching. I'm a fairly mechanical person but I've never tried to replace a stereo unit before. A few reassuring messages from customer services later and I placed the order and received this in 2 business days. It was great that they included all the necessary mounting hardware/dash kit. The installation instructions were sent via e-mail in advance and gave me time to familiarize the steps required. Installation took me a mere 40 minutes, including the wiring. Sound quality was noticeable better than the factory unit. The tones were richer. And the bluetooth function was very easy to set up; just pair it with your mobile device and you're good to go with playing music, and making and receiving phone calls. The display and control light customization is cool too. I'm not a fan of too many distracting blinking lights but this one was just right.
    Pros:
Easy to install, great sound quality, Bluetooth paired easily with my iPhone, iPad, and Samsung S4

    Excellent Hands Free Option

Written By Paul, Pueblo Colorado on Monday, October 06, 2014
    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you are looking to add hands free cell phone technology to your vehicle, compare this product to the other and you'll find that it's one of the lower cost options, which is why I purchased it for use in my old 2005 Pontiac Vibe. I wasn't looking for an outstanding head unit, but really this radio performs quite nicely. It added base levels I didn't expect my speakers were capable of. Requires installation of a microphone at a suitable location, which might be difficult for some to do. I chose to locate mine above the rear view mirror. It was easy to thread the wire behind the headliner, then down behind the trim on the A-pillar, then between the dash and door opening trim. I used my fingers and a small wooden probe to push the wire behind the headliner and the trim. Then routed it up under the dash to the head unit.
    Pros:
Easy installation and set up. Excellent sound. Smooth, flawless integration with iPhone. Has brightness level adjustment the earlier model (FH-X720BT) lacked. Compared to other hands free options, this one offers the necessary functionality at a reasonable price.
    Cons:
Difficult to read the display in bright lighting, day-time conditions regardless of what color and brightness levels are chosen. But this problem is common in a lot of cars. Requires following directions and creating a cable to interface with the OEM wiring harness. I soldered my connections, so this took about 20 minutes to create. The wire are easily matched up between the two connectors.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed this in my 2010 Silverado. It's a vast improvement over the factory head unit in sound quality. Has plenty of power for my purposes. It's much more intuitive to operate than I thought it would be, only had to break out the user manual for a couple of things. Mixtrax is pretty cool, but does cut off a significant portion of the beginning and end of the songs, which in my case is often my favorite parts. There might be a way to have the light show without the mixing, but I haven't found it yet. I was very surprised by the dimmer which has a couple of different modes including one that uses time of day. The dimmer is also very easy to override. All I have to do now is figure out how to fit one of these in my '85 vette!
    Pros:
Easy and functional dimmer, good sound quality, flat frequency response, extremely cool visuals, styling blends well with the dash.
    Cons:
Mixtrax cuts off beginning and end of songs.

This radio works well for my needs. While its not touchscreen, it is still just as good with all the features such streaming audio over bluetooth. Sounds a lot better than my stock radio over stock speakers. I will change stock speakers soon.
    Pros:
    Features, sound quality, and design
    Cons:
The only thing I have an issue with is that every time i enter my truck using my bluetooth headphones for phone use, the radio would take over. I did not want to install the mic as i did not want to use this feature. I'm trying to figure out how to disable this while still being able to use audio streaming.
Crutchfield response on Wednesday, October 08, 2014
This is a tough situation. On the stereo, all of the Bluetooth functions work as a unit, meaning all Bluetooth functions are either on or off. You can't turn off phone calls and leave on audio streaming. (Some Android phones will let you do this, but that still wouldn't help your situation with the Bluetooth headset.) One option you have is the stereo's "Privacy Mode." When a call comes in, press the BAND button to switch to privacy mode and take the call on the phone itself. Who knows, this might even activate your headset. Let us know if that happens to work!

2002 Mustang GT mach 460 system, Pioneer 720bt stereo

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I went with the 2 din. Fit perfect. Nice and tight without rear slide adapter mount. There is no place to mount it because the heat sink is in the way. From what I understand you shouldn't tap into the heat sink because electrical components may be on the other side. The stereo itself gave me more subwoofer/balance options than I had before. I used the Rear/SW white/red RCA jacks. I plugged into the front ones originally but the rear jacks make it sound much better. I mainly choose this radio because I liked that the side colored strips are straight on this model and not angled like on the 700 model. And I figured that the 720 was the newest model, so why not. I only use the CD player and radio. I like the option to use the USB jack but I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet. It has a lot of options that I don't use. All the functions can be confusing but after you play with it for a while you start to get used to it.
    Pros:
Multiple functions, display color options, subwoofer options
    Cons:
Multiple functions can be somewhat confusing

Had to give it a 5 because it is as advertised. Would have been 4.5 if that was an option due to some minor issues. Great product though. Installed in my 2010 Honda CRV.
    Pros:
Easy to install and learn to use. Better sound quality than my base Honda radio. Like the adjustable colors so I didn't have to put up with too bright etc.
    Cons:
FM radio reception is slightly less quality than my other radio. May take apart and make sure my connections are 100%. Also wish I had a separate base control. The provided settings and controls are pretty good, but I would like to tweak a little more personally.

Installed in 2005 Toyota Matrix XR. For what you get with this unit, you can't beat the price. Love the Bluetooth feature and being able to speak on my phone hands-free. Sound quality is great, even on my original factory-grade speakers. Can be a little hard to read the display in the sun, but not a huge deal.
    Pros:
    Bluetooth, sound quality.
    Cons:
Display hard to read in direct sunlight, but I'm just being picky.

I really have nothing negative to say about this head unit. I used this to replace the head unit in a 2006 Civic Sedan LX because I wanted hands free talking. This has met my expectations but I think I might need to readjust the mic. Currently it is on the steering column and you can hear the road noise. Granted this model civic has always had road noise. The unit looks clean and looks like it should have been in the car. Bluetooth works great. Going to upgrade the speakers very soon.

Awesome product. Was a toss up between this and the JVC and very glad I went with the Pioneer for the extra $10. This was my very ever first install. Took me roughly an hour. The longest part was the crimping of the wires, which took 45 minutes because I am very picky. Blue tooth is awesome and how it slowly fades from different colors is cool also!!

I thought this would improve my sound in my car and it greatly did. However, I also learned at just how powerful this little unit really is. At half volume my speakers simply cannot handle the power and shut off. NOT THE UNITS fault at all but mine. Next step will be installing some new door speakers and finally hooking up my sub. Cannot wait until then.
    Pros:
    Bluetooth Powerful

    None!!!

I bought this stereo because i wanted the lighting to match my dash lights, for the bluetooth aspect and to hook up a subwoofer. In all these areas i couldnt be happier. Install was easy. Set up might be a little confusing with all the settings that can be changed but if you dont need or know these things they have basic settings that work well.

I have had this product installed for 2 days, and so far, so good. The Bluetooth audio and calling works great. Doubt I ever use the AUX input because the radio connects right to my iPhone and plays music as soon as car is turned on.

I am subtracting one star because the instructions for the wiring wasn't as clear as old Pioneer instructions used to be. They used to show a diagram of each speaker and the colors of the wires in a nice clear picture. They attempt that now still but the picture isn't near as good as what it used to be. This lead to a little confusion. That being said, not really worth deducting a whole point, but they wouldn't let me give it a 4.5 rating!

Also been impressed with Pioneer products. Just please change your wiring diagrams to how it USED to be in the instructions!
    Pros:
Bluetooth audio and calling. Tons of options for sound

Installed in my 2003 Volvo XC90, with some modifications to existing housing to make it fit and bypassed factory amp to wire speakers. Also added a metra amplified windshield antenna which works great as volvo fiber system is a pain to integrate with from what I read. Overall, the system is easy to use and operate - Bluetooth works great and automatic after first setup - Calls work perfect, Pandora app is awesome - complete control via head unit of pandora functions, GPS or google maps navigation woiks great through android and decreases volume of music when a turn is approaching - for $150 brought my 11 year old car into the present and I love it - safer and connected!! have not used the mixtraxx yet and probably will never, illumination features is a bit distracting - however has most static color options to match your interior lighting colors so it looks integrated.
    Pros:
Bluetooth, Pandora, Auto connect to registered Bluetooth device on power up, Phone integration, voice mode
    Cons:
    cant think of any

I purchased this deck for the simplicity factor, and also the fact that it looks great installed in my 2004 Nissan Altima. Was easy to install and integrated nicely with my Bose speaker system (with purchase of separate wiring interface). All in all, a nice deck for the money spent!
    Pros:
Low cost for all the features I was looking for. Bluetooth audio streaming is awesome, and sound quality is nice. Multi color display let me match the color perfectly to my cars gages.
    Cons:
    Display could be bigger.

    Extremely Pleased With This Unit

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

There are very few things I buy with absolutely no regret, and I'm happy to say I can add this unit to the list. You legitimately can't beat this for the price with an included installation kit from Crutchfield.

I waited to order this unit specifically because the older version FH-x700BT didn't have a dimmer on it. I keep the brightness on this guy around 3 or 4 and find it to be perfect. I can easily imagine how a constant brightness of 10 would be way too bright at night on the old unit.

The bluetooth connects very quickly and the sound quality certainly doesn't disappoint. Ordered another last night for my girlfriends car.
    Pros:
Price Bluetooth Connection Color Customization Dimmer on the lights
    Cons:
I guess some people could say that the interface can be tough navigate through settings and such.... Didn't bug me though

I installed this in my 2002 tundra. The stereo works as a expected and looks better than I expected. It has 2 illumination brightness adjustments, one for when your lights are on and one for when your lights are off. Just set the brightness while your lights are on, and again while they are off. I haven't used the USB or the CD yet. I really like the integration with the iphone 5. I can look at the radio display to see who is calling me. Push the button on the radio to answer the call without getting the phone out of my pocket. Push the button on the radio to make a call and go through the missed calls. I have only had it for 3 days now and love it.
    Pros:
integration with iphone and hands-free calls. Easy to install with wire harness.
    Cons:
Instruction manual could provide a little more information on what all the options do.

While you are in "FM" source, are you able to use the voice calling feature with iPhone? With the previous model (FH-X700BT), paint the MC button for free seconds would activate iPhone voice calling only when Src was bluetooth.
