I purchased the Panasonic DMP-BD60K on January 1. It arrived well packed and in
perfect shape. I have it hooked to my LG Flat Screen HDTV via HDMI cable. It works
well enough but what's the big deal? The picture quality is no better than my old
Panasonic 5-disc DVD changer which is probably 5 years old. I even duplicated a
performance DVD I already own to compare to blu-ray and frankly there is no difference.
Same picture, same sound. I cannot make heads or tails out of the Panasonic website--
it is awful! I will keep
the DMP-BD60K because there is nothing wrong with it but I will not waste any more
money on blu-ray discs.
I will not be a proponent of blu-ray and I will remove my Netflix upgrade to blue-ray discs.
Again--Where is the magic? What's the big deal?

Written By

This player is awsome!!! The firmware update was easy to download via ethernet
cable it only took a few minutes to do. This dvd player brought my whole
collection of regular dvd's to life. I have this hooked up to 50' plasma
panasonic tv and is easily synched up through the viera link. I would strongly
recommend this BD player to anyone!!!

Pretty Good
Written By
Scooter, Richmond, CA on Thursday, January 28, 2010
This unit is great at displaying BD content. I upgraded my home theater receiver (Onkyo HT-RC180) to experience all that Blu-Ray has to offer. Once I get my home network up and running; I plan to take advantage of it's additional features. I wish there was a resume function, so I don't have to navigate through the menu to return to the last spot viewed on the disc. Overall a pretty good unit.

Nice Player
Written By
Travis, Alaska on Friday, January 15, 2010
This player is really nice. I have mine connected to a 42" tv via a HDMI cable. The upcoversion (I set mine to 1080p) works really great, there is a huge noticable difference between a dvd played on this player and my regular dvd player (connected vis S-cable). Plays Blurays good too. My dad has one of these too. You can connect the player to the internet by a cable, or you can update the firmware by burning a cd (CD-R), to do that go to Panasonic's site and pick your model's most recent firmware file and follow the instructions carefully, I made a update cd and updated the firmware on both mine and my dad's.

Great intro to Blu-ray
Written By
David, Dallas, TX on Thursday, January 14, 2010
I purchased both this unit and its more sophisticated older sibling, the DMP-BD80K, and I am very pleased with them. Initially, both units were a bit slow to load "Up", but once I updated the firmware, they seemed to be quicker. Another firmware update, ver. 2.2, seems to have resolved other very minor glitches, like an occasional pause in playback. The picture and sound are just amazing, and they both operate flawlessly since the firmware updates. I highly recommend the BD60 (the BD80 appears to have been discontinued).
