In addition to your newest CDs, Panasonic's CQ-C1300U CD receiver also plays your MP3 and WMA files. Use the full-function remote to jump directly to any track or folder on your disc. Enrich your music — and your daily drive — with four channels of strong MOSFET50 power (25 watts RMS per channel).

CD changer controls give you the option of adding a Panasonic CD changer for easy access to your favorite discs. You also get two sets of preamp outputs for expanding your audio system to include external amplifiers. The SQ (Sound Quality) sound control feature gives you four preset tone curves for adjusting the music.

The crisp, blue and white display keeps you informed without a lot of distraction. Seek tuning lets the sensitive Alphatuner V find your favorite radio stations quickly, and plenty of station presets give you more than enough room for station storage.

Why replace your factory radio?

Two good reasons - sound quality and cool features. A new car stereo offers power that's superior to most factory radios, along with more sophisticated tone controls. And most car stereos offer built-in or optional features that add safety and fun to life in your car, including inputs for your iPod or MP3 player, Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free cell phone calls, satellite radio or HD Radio reception, and connections for building an audio system in your car.

Features

MP3/WMA Playback: The Panasonic CQ-C1300 can play MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW discs in ISO9660 Level 1/Level 2, Apple Extension to ISO9660, Joliet, and Romeo formats. Each disc should have a maximum of 8 trees, 255 folders, and 999 files. Each folder can have a maximum of 255 files.

Sound Quality (SQ): In addition to the bass and treble adjustments (+/- 12dB @ 100 Hz/10kHz), the unit's Sound Quality function allows you to apply various sound adjustments at the touch of a button in accordance with your musical tastes. There are three SQ settings plus "flat":

  • Rock: speedy and heavy sound; exaggerates bass and treble
  • Pop: wide-ranged and deep sound; slightly emphasizes bass and treble
  • Vocal: clear sound; emphasizes middle tone and slightly emphasizes treble
  • Flat: flat frequency response; no emphasis applied

Alphatuner V: The CQ-C1300U's Alphatuner V tuner is designed to help suppress multi-path distortion and reduce the problem of radio signal reflections in metropolitan areas. It also features increased sensitivity for weak signal areas.

Direct Memory: One favorite radio station can be stored in Direct Memory and recalled at any time (even with the power off) with the push of the D-M button. In addition, you can store up to 18 FM and 6 AM stations in preset memory.

Remote Control: The CQ-C1300U is equipped with a wireless remote control (YEFX9992663). In addition to normal disc/tuner/audio controls, some functions are available exclusively by remote control only. Using the numeric keypad, you can directly select CD tracks (in player only), CD changer discs, MP3 files and MP3 folders. The dimensions of the remote are: W=1.583", H=0.268", L=3.412".

CD Changer Compatibility: The CQ-C1300U can control compatible 6-disc and 8-disc Panasonic CD Changers including CX-DP880, CX-DP88, CX-DP801, CX-DP610, CX-DP601, and CX-DP600.

Clock/Illumination Displays: Pressing and holding the Source button turns the unit off completely. After the unit has been turned off, you can use the DISP (display) button to switch the clock display and face/button illumination on and off. If you leave the clock display and face/button illumination on, they are "keyed". If you turn the clock display and face/button illumination off, they only turn on when the unit is turned on ("unit on" operation).

Good for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like this unit alot. I have a Volkswagen Passat, and it was difficult finding a unit to match the dash illumination. That was the first thing that caught my attention.

The ergonomics of the unit are excellent. It is easy to adjust and make selections while driving, and to learn the units operation.

The supplied remote is more than sufficient and provides access to almost every fucntion of the unit.

CD playback is superb. And it is a joy to be able to playback my MP3 library on CD. I can create mixes that playback flawlessy on this unit. The only downside I've found is no playlist support. It plays back the the files in alphabetical order. It would have been nice to be able to specify some type of playback order for the files.

Sound quality is the units weakest point. After owning several high-end units, this just can't compete. Sound is not bad, it's just not as good as I am used to. For the price, it's acceptable. The SQ presets are really horrid. I found them completely unusable. I think the addition of an extrenal EQ might solve some of the sound issues. Volume is more than adaequate, but the unit has some distortion issues at higher volumes.

The other problem I have with this unit is it's lack of a sub output. Of course that is to be expected from a unit in this price range.

Overall this is a great unit for the price.

I didn't know what I was getting! And boy was I satisfied!

When I went to buy a stereo for my Mercedes 300e I did not want to spend Mercedes dealer prices. What caught my eye was the blue display, I thought it looked nice. After it was installed and I was heading home I noticed how easy it was to figure out how to work the unit. The 4 preset EQ's are good for whatever kind of music you like and if you want to set your own EQ you can do that too.
When I started reading the manual I learned it plays MP3, this was my first experience with MP3. The other units I had been looking at were at least twice as expensive as this unit.
I have since installed a changer and this little gem makes it easy to operate.
I've had the unit for 8 months now and no problems, just great music.
Thanks Panasonic for the CQ-C1300U, job well done!
