Powerful performance in a portable package
The Panasonic DMC-GF3 packs all the picture-taking power of a digital SLR into a convenient, compact design that's more like a point-and-shoot camera. Although it may be tiny enough to slip into a coat pocket or purse, this Panasonic uses a large, SLR-sized image sensor to give you bold, highly detailed photos. And just like a traditional SLR, the DMC-GF3 lets you swap out lenses. The included zoom lens lets you take shots that range from wide-angle landscapes to close-up portraits. Add other optional Micro Four Thirds mount lenses to enjoy even more shooting versatility. With a camera this easy to use, you'll be snapping brilliant photos and shooting HD video in no time.

Take control with just a touch
The 'GF3's big 3" LCD boasts a cool touchscreen design that gives you a fun new way to shoot. Just tap the screen to pinpoint your subject, and the camera instantly locks on for sharp focus. You can even use the screen to release the shutter. Touchscreen control also lets you make easy adjustments to exposure modes, menu settings, and playback functions. Just slide your finger across the LCD to scroll through your freshly captured images. Save your images to optional SD memory cards (no memory included).

To 3D or not to 3D?
Are you thinking you may want to try 3D photography in the future, but aren't sure about it now? The 'GF3 has you covered. Just add Panasonic's optional 3D conversion lens and you can start shooting dramatic-looking 3D photos. How is this possible? The additional lens actually contains two sets of optical elements that simultaneously record left and right images, which are then stored on the camera's memory card. All you have to do is hook the cam up to your compatible 3D HDTV, put on your 3D glasses, and enjoy the slide show!

Mega O.I.S.: When the supplied H-FS014042 lens (or other Mega O.I.S. compatible interchangeable lens) is installed, the GF3 supports the Mega Optical Image Stabilizer function. When recording movies, the Mega O.I.S. function is always engaged. When shooting still images, there are two modes to choose from:

  • Normal: Vertical and horizontal shake are compensated for.

  • Forced Flash On: The flash is activated every time regardless of the recording conditions.
  • Forced Flash On/Red-eye Reduction: The flash is activated every time with a pre-flash to reduce red-eye effect.
  • Slow Sync: When taking pictures against a dark background landscape, this feature will slow the shutter speed when the flash is activated to make the background appear brighter.
  • Slow Sync/Red-eye Reduction: Same as Slow Sync, but with pre-flash to reduce red-eye effect.
  • Forced Flash Off: Flash is not activated regardless of the recording conditions.

Shooting Modes: Using the GF3's touch screen, you can choose from the following camera modes:

You can also set the self timer to take 3 pictures after a 10 second delay. The second and third picture are taken in two second intervals after the first.

ISO Sensitivity: ISO sensitivity represents the sensitivity to light in values. If you set the ISO sensitivity higher, the camera becomes more suitable for recording in dark places. When setting to Auto, the ISO sensitivity is automatically adjusted from ISO100 to ISO6400 according to the brightness. In the intelligent ISO setting, the camera will automatically set the optimal ISO sensitivity and the shutter speed according to the movement of the subject and the surrounding brightness. Face Detection: The camera automatically detects a person's face, adjusting the exposure and focus to fit the face, regardless of what portion of the picture it is in.

Focus Areas: You can select from the following focus area selections:

  • 23-area Focusing: Up to 23 points for each AF area can be focused. This is effective when the subject isn't in the center of the screen.

Cropping Pictures: This function lets you trim unnecessary parts of the recorded picture. Motion pictures, pictures with text stamps, and RAW images (including RAW + Standard and RAW + Fine) cannot be cropped.

PictBridge Printing Capability: Using the supplied USB cable, you can connect this camera directly to a PictBridge compliant printer, select, and print out pictures, regardless of the printer brand.
