Features
Bi-Amping/Bi-Wiring System: The
SC-PM39D features a powerful bi-amping/bi-wiring system. The system incorporates
two amplifier circuits for each speaker, driving the woofers separate from the
tweeters and supertweeters. By using separate connections between the amp and speakers, the
individual speaker units are electronically isolated, mutual interference is
minimized, and each driver can reproduce just the frequencies it was designed
for.
5-Disc DVD/CD Changer: This unit has a
5-disc CD changer that is compatible with DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, DVD-RAM, DVD-R,
Video CDs, Audio CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs, as well
as MP3, WMA, and JPEG files (on CD-R/W). The discs
load onto individual trays behind a motorized drop-down front panel. The Disc
Check feature will allow you to check the contents of the remaining changer
trays without interrupting play. The Disc Change feature allows you to load or
change the discs in each tray individually.
MP3/WMA Playback: The SC-PM39D
can play MP3 and WMA music files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs. The unit
can access up to 4000 tracks and 400 groups. Discs must conform to
ISO 9660 Level 1 or 2 (except for extended formats). The compatible bit rates
are 32-320 kbps for MP3 and 48-320 kbps for WMA).
Tuner: This unit has a Digital
Synthesized AM/FM tuner with 15 AM and 15 FM presets. Preset stations can be set
automatically or manually. With the remote, you can
switch from FM stereo to Mono to improve reception. There are two tuning modes:
- Preset: You can directly
access the preset station by entering the preset number on the remote
control, or manually select the presets in order on the main unit or remote.
- Manual: You can manually
tune the station you desire, or use the auto tuning feature (seek tuning) to
locate a station. Note: You can change the FM tuning interval from
0.2 MHz to 0.1 MHz if desired. The AM tuning interval is 10 kHz.
Auxiliary Input: This unit has
an auxiliary RCA input on the rear panel to allow you to connect another audio source.
Cassette Deck: The SC-PM39D has
a top-loading single cassette deck. You can play and record from CD, tuner, or
Auxiliary source. When recording a CD, the disc begins playing when you begin
recording.
Advanced Surround: You can
enjoy a surround-like effect when using two speakers or headphones. The effect
broadens when playing discs with surround effects and sound seems to come from
speakers on either side of your listening position. The Advanced Surround effect
has two levels (Natural and Enhanced) and can be turned off.
Dialogue Enhancer: When viewing
a DVDs with Dolby Digital or DTS in 3 channels or more with the dialogue
recorded in the center channel, the Dialogue Enhancer makes dialogue in movies
easier to hear. It can be turned on/off with the remote control.
Picture Modes: You can select
from the following Picture modes: Normal, Cinema 1 (mellows images), Cinema 2
(sharpens images), Animation, Dynamic, or User Mode (to manually adjust
contrast, brightness, sharpness, color, and gamma settings and enable the depth
enhancer feature).
Preset/Manual EQ: This unit gives you
a choice of 4 Preset EQ settings or Manual EQ (separate bass and treble settings
from -4 to +4) to enhance the sound of your music. The following EQ presets can be selected by using the supplied
remote:
- Heavy: adds a punch to rock
music
- Clear: clarifies higher
sounds
- Soft: for background music
-
Vocal: adds gloss to vocals
Multi Re-Master: When playing
discs recorded with multi-channel LPCM at 44.1kHz or 48kHz, it adds higher
frequency signals not recorded on the discs to gives a more natural sound
effect. For MP3 or
WMA discs recorded at 44.1kHz or 48kHz, the Multi Re-Master feature restores the
frequencies lost during recording to give you a sound closer to the original.
There are 3 levels of effect for the two categories of discs:
- DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, DVD-RAM
and CD:
- 1.: High Tempo (pop,
rock)
- 2.: Various Tempos
(jazz)
- 3.: Low Tempo
(classical)
- WMA/MP3:
- 1.: Light
- 2.: Medium
- 3.: Strong
Audio Only Mode: To improve the
quality of the audio output, you can turn off the video output. There is output
to the screen only when the disc is stopped, performing operations such as
searching, or the on-screen display is activated.
Karaoke: When playing Karaoke
DVD-Video discs, you can turn the solo vocals on or off, as desired. For duet
vocals, you can select Voice 1, Voice 2, Voice 1+2, or Vocals off.
Clock: The unit has a 12-hour
clock that is displayed only briefly when the unit is turned off or activated by
the remote control. There is no power backup, so the clock will need to be reset after a
power outage or when unplugged from power outlet.
Display Dimmer: The unit
features a large multi-colored display and bright blue button illumination. When
the display dimmer is activated
by the remote control, the display dims and all lights are turned off except for
the AC IN indicator.
Timers: The SC-PM39D
has three types of timers:
- Recording Timer: allows you
to set the unit to record from the tuner or an auxiliary source at a
designated time, then shut itself off.
- Play Timer: allows you to
set the unit to turn on at a designated time (wake up timer), and then shut itself off at a certain time. The source and turn-on volume
for the play timer can be set
as well.
- Sleep Timer: allows you to
play the unit for a designated time (30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes), then shut
itself off.
Auto Off: To save power, the
unit turns itself off if it is left unused for 10 minutes after a DVD, CD, or tape
finishes playing. The auto-off feature is activated by the remote control, and
does not work if Aux or Tuner is the selected source.

poly cone woofer with a rubber surround. Each enclosure has a rear-firing port for
improved bass response. The light gray/silver cloth grilles are
removable. Each speaker has a two attached 59" lengths of speaker wire. The
speakers have a 6-ohm impedance rating, and are magnetically shielded.
Wall Mounting: There are no
threaded inserts or keyhole slots included with the speakers. The only
compatible wall-mount speaker brackets are those that require drilling into the
back of the cabinet or the side-grip-type brackets.
Dimensions: W=5.717",

component video outputs. The component video outputs can be set to output
interlaced or progressive video signals. Note: In the setup menu, you
should switch the Black Level Output to "Darker" when using the component video
jacks.
