Features

Add-on Handset: The KX-TGA651 cordless handset is an add-on accessory for select Panasonic cordless phone systems. It is not a stand-alone phone. It must first be registered to the base unit of the cordless phone system before it can be used. Up to six handsets can be registered to any base unit. It is compatible with the following Panasonic Digital Cordless telephones: KX-TG4011, KX-TG4021, KX-TG4031, KX-TG4051, KX-TG6511, KX-TG6521, KX-TG6531, KX-TG6541, KX-TG6581, and KX-TG7531.

DECT 6.0: The Panasonic KX-TGA651 uses DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) 6.0 technology, which lets you move freely around your home with long range and clear sound. Operating in the 1.9 GHz frequency range (1.92 GHz to 1.93 GHz), your phone will not conflict with other wireless devices such as computer routers, wireless keyboards, microwave ovens and other common household devices.

Handset Speakerphone: The cordless handset can double as a speakerphone for hands-free conversations. You can choose from six volume settings for the speakerphone.

Handset LCD: The cordless handset features a bright backlit 1.8" LCD screen. The display will show lots of information, including Caller ID info, battery strength, Caller List, Phone Book, plus the Feature Menu. You can adjust the contrast of the LCD from 1-6.

Intelligent Eco Mode: The phone's Intelligent Eco mode automatically reduces handset power consumption when you're using the handset close to the base unit. This feature extends the available talk time by suppressing the power it takes to transmit to the base unit. The "ECO" icon appears in the handset display when activated.

Navigator Keys: The four directional navigator keys on the handset are used to navigate through menus and to select items shown on the display by pushing it up, down, left, or right.

Soft Keys: Located below the LCD screen, three soft keys are provided for selecting functions displayed directly above the keys. Functions displayed above the keys will change depending upon the state of use.

Ringer Options: You can select one of six ringer volume settings for the cordless handset. In addition, the handset has five ring tones and five ring melodies to choose from.

Headset Jack: The cordless handset has a sub-mini (2.5mm) jack on the side for an optional headset. Panasonic recommends (headsets) KX-TCA400, KX-TCA60, KX-TCA93, KX-TCA94, and KX-TCA430.

Caller ID: This unit is compatible with Caller ID services offered by your telephone company. If you subscribe to Caller ID, the caller's name and phone number will be displayed and recorded in the handset's Caller List.

Call Waiting Caller ID: If you subscribe to both Call Waiting and Caller ID, when talking on the phone as another call comes in, the second caller's name and phone number will be displayed.

Call Block: If you subscribe to Caller ID, you can enter the phone numbers (up to 30) from which you do not want to receive calls. You can also block calls without a phone number, including those that show "Out of Area", "Private Caller", or "Long Distance".

Caller List: The unit can record information for up to 50 different callers and store this information in the Caller List, including calls you missed. You can call back any number in the caller list. Once a number is in the Caller List, it can be manually or automatically edited (to add or remove area codes or prefixes), saved in the Phone Book, or deleted.

Shared Phone Book: You can store up to 50 names and phone numbers into the shared Phone Book. Any handset registered to the base unit can use the shared phonebook, however only one person can access the shared phonebook at a time. The directory names are sorted alphabetically. You can enter names up to 16 characters, and enter phone numbers up to 32 digits. A pause can be entered in the phone number if required for dialing. Each pause is stored as one digit, and the pause is approximately 3.5 seconds.

Redial List: You can review a list of the last five numbers dialed, then call any of those numbers.

Alarm: On the handset, you can set an alarm to sound for three minutes on a one-time or daily basis. With the date and time programmed into the phone, you can enter a desired time for the alarm to sound. Using a different ringer tone from the one used for outside calls is recommended.

Silent Mode: You can program each handset to ring or not at your discretion. If you set a handset to Silent Mode, it will not ring when calls come in. A specific time period can be programmed ahead of time for the silent mode. Other handsets programmed to the phone are not affected, and will continue to ring when calls are received.

Mute: This system features a Mute key on the cordless handset. If you wish to temporarily mute the conversation, you can mute the handset so the other party cannot hear you, but you can still hear them.

Call Transfer/Intercom: If you have more than one handset registered to the phone, calls can be transferred from one handset to another handset. You can also set-up a 2-way conversation between two handsets (intercom).

Conference Calls: Up to 2 handsets can have a conference call with an outside party.

Security: A handset cannot operate unless it is registered with the base unit.

Voice Mail Services: If the connected phone system is compatible with your telephone company's voice mail service, special tones sent by the telephone company can cause the message indicator on the handset to flash slowly, and make the handset display the message "New Voice Mail" in the LCD. You can program your Voice Mail access number (along with your password and any necessary pauses) so you can dial it automatically to retrieve your messages.

Belt Clip: The included belt clip can be attached to the back of the cordless handset so that you can hook it onto your belt.

Battery Information: The handset comes with two "AAA"-sized, HHR-65AAABU rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries. Ni-MH batteries do not develop the "memory" effect like many Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cad) rechargeable batteries. Specifications for the supplied batteries are:

  • Initial Charge Time: 7 hours
  • Battery Talk Time: up to 13 hours continuous
  • Battery Standby Time: approximately 11 days

Wall Mounting: The charger can be wall-mounted using the integrated keyhole slots.

Dimensions: The handset has the following dimensions:

  Width Height Depth
Handset on charger 2.817" 7.099" 3.375"
Handset only 1.898" 6.288" 1.205"
