I don't have much experience with subwoofers, and this JL sub was the first one I've ever installed in my own vehicle. That said, it works really well. I'm just running an Alpine MRP-F250 4channel amp, with channels 3 and 4 bridged to the sub. Channels 1 and 2 power the door speakers. The sub is in a S/O Bass Bunker. After playing a lot of different music through it and getting it fine tuned, I feel like it sounds great. Nice tight punch, accurate tones. Even turned up loud though, you can barely tell there's a sub in the truck from 15 feet away. The sub itself is a lightweight....magnet is pretty small. But hey, less weight to haul around in the car all the time. This is in a 2001 Toyota 4Runner. For comparison, my sister has an Infinity 1062w in her 4runner, powered by a Alpine MRV-F353. Our setups are very similar, except she has the better amp and the Infinity sub....and her's definitely sounds better. The overall sound quality from that infinity sub is better, and it gets WAY louder without losing quality. If you've got the amp for it, I'd get the Infinity over this JL everyday.
