Product Research

Features

Overview: The JL Audio BassWedge sealed subwoofer enclosure is designed around JL Audio's 10" WXv2 subwoofer, delivering tight, powerful bass. The MDF enclosure is covered with gray carpet and has a JL AUDIO logo embroidered across the top.

Speaker Terminal: The enclosure uses one pair of high current spring posts. The posts are located on the left side of the box and will accept pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

WXv2 Woofer Features:

  • Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA): DMA is a JL Audio proprietary method of improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, the woofer's motor remains linear in motor force over a long excursion range, and maintains a stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. The result is reduced distortion, faithfully reproduced transients, and tight, clean, articulate bass.
  • Elevated Frame Cooling: The elevated frame design of the 10WXv2 delivers cool air through slots directly above the top-plate to the voice coil. This not only enhances power handling, but also sound quality by minimizing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression.
  • Rear Gasket: The woofer has an integrated foam rear gasket which provides an optimal seal when installing into the enclosure.

Optional Grille: The optional SGRU-10 grille (item number 136SGR1031, sold separately) can be added to protect the woofer cone.

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Wondering if my Sound Ordinance M1500 500W x1 @ 2 ohms can handle this sub? Just to make sure I don't blow my amp up if I decide to give the sub more juice

Forget blowing up the amp you're more likely to blow up the sub it's only rated for 200w rms.

Q
Can you lay this sub on it's back? (Aka speaker facing up) or does it need to be standing as shown in the picture?
travis  Jul 01, 2014

A
I ran the sub on its back for about 5 months when I had my truck, it did not seem to have any negative effect on it. Hope this helps
robert m  Jul 02, 2014

Yes it can. I would play with the direction and which way it faces to see what sounds best. I have mine firing towards the back of the car so it fills the whole car nicely. I have a 2005 Scion tC.
ryan  Jul 02, 2014

I have mine laying on its back in the trunk of my Mustang and it sounds great!

If you mount a 2x4 on each side.
randy  May 23, 2014
A
It can be turned upside down but you would have to put some rubber feet or something on the raised part of the box to raise it up a little. It was not designed to face down but it can be done. Otherwise the woofer would touch the surface as it expands and might damage the speaker. Otherwise this box sounds Great would definitely purchase again.
