Solid MDF enclosure

JL Audio uses state-of-the-art automated woodworking equipment to fabricate the high-quality MDF enclosure with rugged automotive carpeting, nickel-plated push terminals, and solid internal wiring.

Went in looking for a sub to increase sound quality and to hit deep low's while occasionally bumping with my friends and this sub is more than I could ask for. Brings the punch without distorting and keeps a crisp sound. Well worth the money and plenty enough bass to rattle the car.

Was looking for something to replace my factory 8in subwoofer and was worried that a 10in would not be enough. This paired with Sound OrdnanceT M-1350 was way more than I was looking for! The bass coming from just one 12 is ridiculously loud! I wasnt looking for anything that could be heard down the street, just a simple quality upgrade. No complaints other than I probably could have gotten away with a 10in, or possibly a really nice 8in JL. Rap, house music sounds great, rock music is not bad, just need to adjust the bass. 2014 Honda Civic SI coupe

Pros: Super loud bass!

Cons: none

I call my sub Mike Tyson because it brings the punch!! I have a Toyota Tacoma X Runner, so I have limited space in the extended cab for a system and a funky design on the seats, so I needed a compact box and as much low end as I could get. This JL Audio 12 seemed to be what I needed. And after hearing what this single enclosed sub can do, I can't be happier with my choice. It produces crisp clean bass when listening to rock n roll and bottomed out thump when listening to rap. It's box design makes it flexible in tight spaces and still gets the job done. I would recommend this to any and everyone looking for good quality bass sound!!! Well Done JL Audio!!!

Pros: Everything I have to say is a pro statement!

Cons: No cons. Not one single con.

Very sharp in more than one way!

Simply amazing. Very sharp looking enclosure and woofer, very sharp (tight) sounding bass. This is inside a trunk in a small sedan and I was a little worried that it wouldn't be enough being that it is sealed. I have a 15" sub in my home theaters tuned to 20 hz and can hit 125 dbs at 20 so when I saw the 88db sensitivity and the 200 rms I was worried. Well, I assure you, nothing to be worried about here not even in an enclosed trunk, I am so glad I went sealed. I don't want people to hear me coming around the block or in the parking garage in the office (although they could if I had it cranked), but I want to feel it and hear it in the confinement of my commute to work and this fits the bill. Love it for every genre of music and the sound it produces and the clean bass it creates is much better now that I'm older. In my younger years I would have preferred the rumble of the port after the beat hits, not anymore, only in my home theater setup. No, now I like to get low, and this thing get low, not 18-20hz low but it does make an effort at 25hz, that said it is so pleasing and tight at any frequency. I'm running it off the 4-channel SO amp that has 75x4 or bridged (which is what I am using 240RMS). They match up so perfectly. If I were to compare this to ported subs I've had in the past, imagine the loud impact of thunder and the roll off sound, this roll off adds to the total 'loudness', this is my ported, this sub you just get the thunder impact, no roll off.

Pros: Clean looking. Tight accurate bass. Get's deep, Get's loud if you want it to be. Very musical. Easily driven.

Excellent quality. Installed in BMW 330i with an audiocontrol signal converter and an inexpensive California Profile amp and stock CD player. Much tighter, cleaner sound than my previous bazooka 8in (which lasted for 23 years!). Not nearly as loud as the bazooka but a much cleaner and more accurate bass. Does not shake the care like the bazooka did. Will need to get the remote control for it to optimize and adjust easily but overall I'm very pleased. BMW is a tightly sealed trunk, I removed the ski-pass door to allow some bass to move into car and it works perfectly. I definitely like the quality of the sound over the bazooka. If you just want loud boomy bass, get a cheap bazooka, it you want a very nice accurate bass, get the sealed JL audio sub.

Pros: Excellent quality product is obvious when looking at it. Excellent sound.

Cons: It's pretty big, will take up trunk space.

I love this sub. It hits the lower frequencies like I wanted and gets plenty loud. The sound quality is amazing, you won't buy a better sub for the price and RMS. After finally settling on this, I decided I would buy nothing but JL subs in the future.

I have this sub running off the JL audio JX250/1 amp and it sounds great. I don't need a lot of bass because it's in a Civic, and this amp/sub combo is just right. It can hit pretty hard though, although I've never turned my radio (Kenwood Excelon) up past 20. If you need a little extra bass for your ride, then this is it.

Pros: Awesome build quality of the box, plus its small and compact and not heavy at all.

Cons: It's a little too expensive, but it is JL audio.

Features

Overview: The JL Audio BassWedge sealed subwoofer enclosure is designed around JL Audio's 12" WXv2 subwoofer, delivering tight, powerful bass. The MDF enclosure is covered with gray carpet and has a JL AUDIO logo embroidered across the top.

Speaker Terminal: The enclosure uses one pair of high current spring posts. The posts are located on the left side of the box and will accept pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

WXv2 Woofer Features:

  • Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA): DMA is a JL Audio proprietary method of improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, the woofer's motor remains linear in motor force over a long excursion range, and maintains a stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. The result is reduced distortion, faithfully reproduced transients, and tight, clean, articulate bass.
  • Elevated Frame Cooling: The elevated frame design of the 12WXv2 delivers cool air through slots directly above the top-plate to the voice coil. This not only enhances power handling, but also sound quality by minimizing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression.
  • Rear Gasket: The woofer has an integrated foam rear gasket which provides an optimal seal when installing into the enclosure.

Optional Grille: The optional SGRU-12 grille (item number 136SGR1231, sold separately) can be added to protect the woofer cone.

Yes. The power rating for the sub is 4ohms running between 70 and 200 watts rms. It looks like a single channel of the Kenwood Kac-7202 is 150 watts rms at 4ohms. So just keep it on stereo mode only running through one channel and it will be perfect. [ Jasen  Jun 22, 2016 ]
Yes [ Lance  Jun 22, 2016 ]
Do you mean kac-7202? If so it says bridged 4 ohm 460w, so it has more than enough power. Just make sure you follow the guides here on properly setting your gain, i would use the multimeter and test tones before hooking up the sub itself so you dont blow it. Once set you should be good to go. [ Michael  Jun 22, 2016 ]
See no reason why you couldn't. There is a slight ridge on the front that shoud prevent prevent driver from bottoming. [ RONALD H  Nov 21, 2015 ]
Yes, the edges on the front side of the box will make sure the sub does not hit the ground/floor if on flat surface [ REESE  Nov 20, 2015 ]
