The JL Audio name on a speaker means high-quality sound, and W0v2 subwoofers don't come up short when delivering trademark JL performance. You'll find patented technologies like an optimized motor system that promotes precise, linear cone movement, plus advanced cooling throughout the frame for rapid heat dissipation.

The 12W0v2-4 12" sub features a tough polypropylene cone that resists flexing, and a durable foam surround that'll stand up to hard use. The cone's extra-long excursion capability lets it hit truly deep notes without distorting, while the hefty 2.5-inch voice coil drives the woofer accurately for top-notch performance under extreme conditions.

The patented elevated frame design delivers air flow directly to the voice coil, which cools it down and enhances power handling. JL Audio designed this sub to work in compact sealed or medium-sized ported enclosures.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?

A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

This is a bada** sub. I have 2 12's hooked up to a Kenwood 1000 watt 300 RMS mono amp. They hit hard. I cant see out of the rear view mirror and my ears are ringing when I get out of my car. I made the enclosure for them and its help up for the past year.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are the best subs I've owned. About 5 years ago I had a set of Rockford
Punch subs but these JL Audios are great. Real thumpers.

Love the Sound Ordnance box as well as the Sony Amp that Crutchfield
matched thse with. Crutchfield and JL Audio - an awesome combination!

Thanks Crutchfield - you have made my audio dreams come true!!!

When they work, THEY WORK.

Written by: Jake V. from Chicago, IL on January 14, 2011

I got these a while back and sure when they work they pound pretty good, but
I've literally had to re solder each spider on both of my subs. JL, poor
placement of the spider. Other than me have to resolder every couple of days,
pretty decent sub.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love this sub, I have two of them in a sealed enclosure. I can't give them a 5 star rating
because they aren't truly competiton grade like the W7 series, but theses subs are
extremely SOLID! They pound and sound excellent! Never can go wrong with JL Audio
subs. I've had Kicker Comp VRs, JVC Aresenals, Pioneers, Pyle Drivers...etc. JL is the
best, and this is their lowest model sub. If you are simply trying to beef up ya bass and
have the capability to wow a few people this is it. I won't win a competition with them, but
my young bass head days are over. I have these subs hooked up to a Sony 2002GTR
amp with ...and these subs are begging for more power. Hmm I may just obliged them!

More perfection from JL Audio!

Written by: Justin from Topeka, KS on December 27, 2009

This sub is great. I had a 12w0v1 in my regular cab Dodge Dakota with a Punch 250 amp. In my opinion, JL makes the best subwoofers. Deep, accurate bass from a sub that never quits. I had it for 8 years and it was still going strong when I sold the truck. I'm getting ready to buy another one for my Ford Escape. You can't go wrong with this or any other subwoofer from JL Audio. I strongly recommend it.

This is a great sub for the price. I only have one of these and it bangs pretty hard. I cant see anything out of the rear view mirror. It sounds great. I have an 800 watt amp and it bumps. would definetly recommend it. Amazing Price.

Enclosure Compatibility

Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method aimed at improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, W0v2 motors remain linear in motor force over a very long range of excursion, and also maintain a highly stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. The result is vastly reduced distortion, faithfully reproduced transients, and tight, clean, articulate bass.

Elevated Frame Cooling: The elevated frame design of the W0v2 delivers high-velocity air flow through slots directly above the top plate to the voice coil of the speaker. This not only enhances power handling, but also sound quality by minimizing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression.

Rear Gasket: The woofer has a rear gasket which provides an optimal seal when installing into the enclosure.

Long Excursion: The 12W0v2 subwoofer has 11.4mm of linear excursion, giving you louder bass with less distortion.

Enclosure Compatibility

Recommended Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box size recommended by JL Audio is 1.375 cu/ft. A diagram is provided in the owner's manual for a sealed box with external dimensions of 16" W x 19" H x 11.75" D, assuming 3/4" thick material. (If you are using 5/8" thick materials, you should subtract 1/4" from each dimension.)

Recommended Ported Box Volume: The ported box size recommended by JL Audio is 1.75 cu/ft. A diagram is provided in the owner's manual for a sealed box with external dimensions of 17.5" W x 15.5" H x 15.5" D, assuming 3/4" thick material. (If you are using 5/8" thick materials, you should subtract 1/4" from each dimension.) The box should be tuned to 26 Hz. A rounded port with a diameter of 3" and a length of 14" is recommended.
