An enclosed subwoofer is a box with a subwoofer already installed. The advantage to buying an enclosed sub is that the manufacturer made the sub, then designed and built the box as a perfect match, so you'll get the best possible performance. Every enclosed sub has a maximum RMS power handling rating, so pair it with an amp with a similar RMS power rating to get the best performance.
Since these were my first subs, I can't compare them to other subs I have owned. However, being in high school I have lots of friends who compete with me. In the never ending- "Who has the better system?". I love these subs, and I can easily say I have the best sound quality subs in town. They might not hit as hard as those with ported 12s, but that's not what I bought them for! They're fantastic for some low hard beats, but keeping that tight sounding bass I crave. A wonderful product that I do not have a single regret of buying! Wonderful service to assist me in choosing these bad boys out, as well.
Pros: Wonderful look, tight and crisp sounding bass, easy hook-up, and awesome sleek appearance
I purchased this sub-woofer to add a some bass, it is great! Not only did it add the bass I needed It allowed the settings of the other speakers to be adjusted to create a very full, clear and richer sound. If I would have had any idea this would have such great sound, it would have been the first system piece I purchased instead of the last.
Pros: Great sound, fantastic price. Fits behind the rear seat of a Ram mega cab, and still leaves a lot of room.
I have a Jeep wrangler with an extremely small space for subs which is well known by all Jeep Wrangler owners. This set up delivers exactly what you would expect from JL a quality clean sound from a 10" subwoofer. I have owned many difrferent vehicles with many different sub set ups over the last 20 years. I knew that the enclosure wouldn't be able to hit the extreme lows due to the enclosure and woofer size. But I was pleasantly surprise by the subs ability to hit the notes around 100 megahertz range delivering clean punchy bass. Think rock, country and songs that have a distinct kick drum. If your looking for a sub that will play all of those crazy lower bass notes that most rap songs have in them.....well this isn't the sub for you. As with all subs make sure that you have the proper RMS feeding them as well as a capacitor to ensure that clean power feeds the subs properly.
Pros: Price, Sound Quality, Great Sound for the enclosure size.
I don't have a lot of room in the trunk of my 2013 mustang. These subs left me a decent amount of space and sound great. Tried a bunch of different positions and seem to sound best either rear or down firing.
overall not bad for the price
Cons: doesn't hit very hard
I first purchase this item for a friend. Once installed I was amazed of the quality sound that I purchased a 2nd set for me. Excellent product highly rec.
Pros: excellent quality n sound!
These subs fit great behind rear seat of 2008 Jeep JK Unlimited. Driven by Alpine MRV500 amp these subs really add solid clean bass. From Country to Rock to Rap. These JL subs are fantastic! These really completed my system: Alpine CDE153BT head unit Alpine MRV350 amp driving Polk component DXI speakers in dash and roll bar
Pros: Loud solid clean bass, solidly built enclosure
These Are The Best Subz For The Price And They Hit HaRd.
These subs sound really good in my Jeep Wrangler. The enclosure they come loaded into fits perfectly in the rear compartment of the Wrangler and looks good!
Pros: Great Sound, Size
Cons: None yet!
Comparing to a Single JL Audio 12W6, these 10's have some kick. Great quality enclosure.
Pros: Good Build Quality
Sounds great just hooking. Can't wait to hear it after I get everything dialed in.
Excellent quality equipment
Great sound and even better deal
Pros: Good sound
For being JL Audio's value priced set up these guys sound great.
Pros: Love the JL Audio logo on the top side.
This sub sounds amazing if you don't install it as JL Audio recommends.
JL Audio designed this as a front-facing sub. It sounds fine in this configuration: very punchy, decently deep base. But if you want it to truly perform, face it downward. This gives a MUCH deeper sound. You'll notice an immediate difference.
The only problem with this is that the edges of the box give roughly 1/4" of clearance from the speakers to the floor, which could cause damage to the speaker as it travels. I spoke with JL about installing "feet" onto the sub, and they said it was a good idea to avoid damage by facing it downward. $5 in parts and about a half-hour to install. I used four rubber feet intended for the legs of a folding chair, four 3/4" PVC pipe caps, and four #10 1/2" wood screws. Drilled a hole through the caps, ran the screw into the hole, and screwed the caps to each corner of the sub, 1" from each side. Then popped the rubber feet onto the caps and I was done - I now had an extra inch to inch and a half of clearance to the floor - plenty of room to travel, and maybe even enough for the grilles that JL recommended. (Speaking of which, Crutchfield lists wrong grille!) If you mod your sub as I did, stay at the corners and you shouldn't hit any wires. Remove woofers (allen wrench needed) to be sure - I did.
If you don't feel like going to the trouble, you can still face it downward - it just might not last as long. Great sub though - fast, deep, and loud.
Pros: - Fast response - Deep sound - Nice and punchy, not too boomy - Easy install if you don't modify it: insert wires and place it where you want. Done! - Reasonably attractive in the trunk/hatch area - Flat profile, rather than angled - easy to set things on
Cons: - Performs better when facing downward, but JL didn't leave enough clearance to do so safely - modification is required. - Very large if you need trunk space, lack of angled back means some space is lost behind it when placed behind an angled seat. - Crutchfield is recommending the wrong grilles - use SGRU-10, NOT SGR-10W3v3/W1v2, according to JL Audio. Rated "Ease of Use" with 3 stars instead of 5 due to modifications necessary to get the best sound out of the sub.Crutchfield response on June 22, 2013 Thanks for your review. We corrected our mistake.
They sound really good for a low power system I put them in a regular cab f150 and love them and crutchfield always has fast shipping
Pros: Cost quality sound looks
these little babies bump like no other JL for the win!
Great product but just don't hit the depth of base I was hoping for.
Pros: Fits in almost any place you want it! Looks great, and sounds clean.
Cons: Base depth just don't hit as deep as other 10" subs I've had in the past I would recommend going with 12" or 13" JL subs!! They are much better.
Very good setup. I had 3 10w6's for 14 years and eventually it was time to move on. I bought these and what an impressive sound. These aren't what I expected..they're much more.
Pros: Size to power ratio is great.
I purchased this sub box along with an XD300 amp last year to add some bass to my factory 2011 Buick LaCrosse's stereo. Fortunately you can easily add such an upgrade as long as a power cable can be run - jumped one of the rear speakers for signal and off we went. As it is a 10" sealed box, the bass is tight and quick, not like the typical ported 12" or 15" sloppy subs one might buy. Works great with all music - electronic, rock, jazz...
Pros: Adds another octave of bass to weak factory radios, not too big or heavy, good looking box.
Cons: Doesn't go down to 20hz - expected from a 10" sub, power handling is only 400w - but that is fine in a smaller car.
I needed a sub to improve my stock Lexus ML sound system, the ML system already has good highs, lows and spacial sound but lacks bass to round out the sound. I wanted great bass without the need to crank the volume high. I installed a RF PBR500x1 & a Audio control LC2i, in testing several subs this model won out for the best match to the ML system. I tried the JL HO 10" ported sub that could easily handle the power fed to it, the subsonic characteristics just shook the car, definetly a a high output sub but it's output was more in the 60-80 hz rate which left a gap to the ML system which I believe drops off at about 100 or so hz. I then tried this sub and it fit perfectly sonically with the ML system providing more mid-bass punch that matched great with the ML system. This sub cannot handle massive amounts of power (+500wts) but is perfect for my needs, great mid-low bass to round out the stock system with no gaps in the sonic range. I can adjust the lower sub notes via the remote dial I have for my RockFord Fosgate amp that increases the 80hz notes to overcome the tuning of this sub box but have to be careful at the higher volumes. Note that this sub is probably not for the set of folks who want a sub that puts out the loud, what I call "hum" type of bass but for the money fits perfectly for those who want a good quality addition to your stock system, also note the size of this box is very compact, amazing what JL has engineered in such a small size, very satisfied.
Pros: Great bang (bump) for your buck, a well constructed quality product, looks good, compact size, sound quality (mid-low bass range), good punchy bass
Cons: Has power limitations expected from a sub at this price range and form factor, needs just a bit more low end sound

Yes it will fit. You have just enough room to fit the setup. [ DARNELL Nov 13, 2015 ]
Not sure what the cab is like. Fit behind my seat in a ram 2500 2006 [ nate Nov 13, 2015 ]
Probably but measure first before buying. I installed mine behind the back seat of a 76 cj7. Building a cardboard template may help. This is not specifically designed for reg cab trucks so proceed with caution. Brian [ christopher Nov 13, 2015 ]

Measured it, it's about 7 inches thick. I can't really give you an answer on if it will fit or not. Measure the space you have and that will give you the definitive answer. [ Brad Jan 05, 2015 ]
THAT WOULD BE A QUESTION FOR TECH SUPPORT. ORIGINALLY I PURCHASED THIS FOR MY 1978 K5 BLAZER, NOW I HAVE IT IN MY 2012 CAMARO. SOUNDS GREAT. I WOULD BUY THIS AGAIN. [ DAVID Jan 05, 2015 ]
You have enough space to fit this enclosure behind your seat. Better yet if you have time give crutchfield a call and they can give you the specs on the enclosure dimensions. [ DARNELL Jan 05, 2015 ]
I wouldnt but these subs i r constantly been screwed with them they last a fay or a week then blow on me [ Emilio Jan 04, 2015 ]

they have only a single set of connectors so a 1- channel amp will be fine. I have mine hooked to a moderate power supply and I love the tightness and solid hits. sounds great from country to pop to rap. [ DAVID Aug 27, 2014 ]
The impedence of this dual sub setup is 2-ohm so you could either take a 2-ch amp & bridge it to get the 2-ohms or just go with a mono 2-ohm amp which is what I did. I have the subs down-firing & it works very well. These are great subs. [ DAVID Aug 27, 2014 ]
This unit has a 1 channel set-up [ MICHAEL R Aug 27, 2014 ]
A 2 channel amp and one channel are similar. You can either use a 2 channel and bridge it to a one channel or a mono block amp. [ MICHAEL Aug 27, 2014 ]
It can be run on either kind of amp but it only has one set of terminals on the box [ STEPHEN P Aug 27, 2014 ]
It can be for either a one channel or two channel it's really your preference [ DARNELL Aug 27, 2014 ]
1 Channel [ Phil Aug 27, 2014 ]
I was in your shoes about a year ago with these same Subs. I went with an Alpine KTP-445U Head Unit Power Pack 45W x 4 for my 4 JBL speakers & then the ALPINE MRP-M500 300W x 1 mono amp for my JL 10's. I have these in a '92 BMW convertible with the sub box turned over so the subs are "down-firing"... it sounds AWESOME. [ DAVID May 27, 2014 ]
alpine MRX M55 Mono Amp Is A Good Amp For Those Subwoofers. Its 550 Watts RMS. ITS 1 To 2 Ohms Stable. [ DARNELL May 23, 2014 ]
