Features

Overview: The JL Audio slot-ported BassWedge subwoofer enclosure is designed around two of JL Audio's 12" W0v3-4 (4Ω) subwoofers. Aggressive tuning delivers powerful bass without the need for a huge amplifier. The MDF enclosure is covered with gray carpet and has JL AUDIO logos embroidered across the top and front. The enclosure design offers a variety of installation options: forward, rear or down firing. The slot-port runs along the bottom of the enclosure and fires on the same plane as the woofer; the port mouth is flared to minimize air-flow noises.

Speaker Terminal: The enclosure uses one pair of nickel-plated, high current spring posts. The posts are located on the left side of the box and will accept pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

W0v3 Woofer Features:

  • Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method of improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, the 12W0v3-4 motor displays linear force over a long excursion range, and also maintains a stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. The result is a reduced distortion, faithfully reproduced transients, and tight, clean, articulate bass.
  • Elevated Frame Cooling: The elevated frame design of the 12W0v3-4 delivers cool air through slots directly above the top plate to the voice coil. This not only enhances power handling, but also sound quality by minimizing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression.
  • Rear Gasket: The woofer has a rear gasket to provide an optimal seal when installing into the enclosure.
  • Long Excursion: The subwoofer has an Xmax of 11.4mm, giving you louder bass with less distortion.

Optional Grille: The optional SGRU-12 grilles (item number 136SGR1231, sold separately and individually) can be added to protect the woofer cones.

Dimensions: The CP212-W0v3 enclosure isn't symmetrical; it's approximately 31-5/8" wide, 15-1/4" tall at its tallest point (toward the front), 12-7/8" tall at its shorted point (toward the back), 20-5/8" deep at the base, and 16-5/8" deep at the top.

Q
Is there a way to get the cage cover off of the speakers?
brian  Oct 18, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Brian. Thank you for your question. Not sure what you mean by cage cover. This JL Audio would not come with grills, but you can purchase them separately if thats what you are talking about. If so, and they are actual JL audio grills, they should be able to tell you how to remove them.

Q
Will the AudioControl LC-1.800 be too much power for this box?
peps69  Aug 10, 2023
1 answer
A
JL Audio prefers that we do not recommend amplifiers that output more power than their subwoofers are rated to handle. The subwoofers included in this enclosure are rated to handle 600 watts RMS combined. The LC-1.800 will output 800 watts RMS when presented a 2-ohm impedance.

Q
what amp would work with these?
alec  Jun 08, 2023

There are several amp choices that would be compatible with these subs. For information on selecting the best amp, I recommend reaching out to an advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.

Is this box compatible with 12w6v2's?
josh  Dec 08, 2022
1 answer
A
You are on the right track Josh, but the 12w6v2/v3 grille is not a good fit. You will want to grab a pair of these SGRU-12 grilles in the link below to fit the Jl Audio CP212-WOv3 dual box. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_136SGR1231/JL-Audio-SGRU-12.html

Q
Hello I wanted to make sure the Rockford Fosgate T1000-1bdCP amplifier would be strong enough to power the JL Audio CP212-W0v3 subwoofers? I have a 1997 Suburban c1500 for reference
avirex  Sep 27, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Avirex, and thank you again for your question. Its not that the Rockford Fosgate has enough power, but its the subwoofers not being able to take the Rockford Fosgate power. The T1000 1bdCP has too much power for those subs.

That will vary depending on the level of the input signal. Our technical support department helps our customers figure out which setting to use and we include their toll free phone number on the order invoice. If you do not have the invoice handy, you can call us using 1-800-324-9695 so we can look up the order number (also found on the invoice) and then connect you to them for the help.

300 watts each. Doesn't sound like much, but it's very well designed & makes the rear wiper in my Tahoe bounce off the glass

What is the cubic feet inside the box?

We don't have that information on this box but I'd bet it has a total of 3.5 cubic feet air space because each 12" W0v3 subwoofer works best in a 1.75 cubic feet ported box My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul

Q
I own a 2018 Mustang GT which position is recommended rear fire downfire front fire CP212 WOV3 BASSWEDGE recommended for this box?
charles  Feb 05, 2019
3 answers
A
This box is designed to be used in any position you wish, and the subwoofers will function properly regardless. In my experience, I tend to keep my subs rear-facing and as far away from the rear of the trunk as possible, but I have heard that down-firing subs can add a lot of punch to your low-end, with a very minute sacrifice of sound clarity.
kolton  Feb 07, 2019
A
I've personally always went with front or rear, no complaints with either, the subs definitely do their job no matter what position you got them in, the position you gottem in is really more preference than science or whatever, depending on what type of music ur bumpin and how it sounds you may want to change the position here and there, which is fairly easy to do as long as you can lift the subs outta the car and reposition them accordingly. Best of luck bruther, hope this helped.
cole gregory ja  Feb 06, 2019
A
I prefer the rear fire in my 4runner. Of course I listen to mainly rock and metal. Down fire sounded a little boomy to me.

Q
How are the subwoofers wired inside the box?
lee  Jul 22, 2018

The dual JL Audio W0v3 12" subs are wired together in parallel inside the box to present a 2-ohm impedance to wire to your amplifier. For more details or to discuss further please contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Hope that helps!

Will this fit into my 1975 corvette, behind my drivers seat?
vernon  Dec 12, 2017

A
We don't have any measurements for the space there nor was I able to find a picture or an article that seemed to list the measurements of that space. You might take a measuring tape out there and see if you have enough space to fit a box with these dimensions: 31-5/8"W x 15-1/4"H x 20-5/8"D1 (depth at the bottom) x 16-5/8"D2 (depth at the top of the box) My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

The dimensions are listed within the item discription, I'm not certain as to how much room you have behind your 1975 Corvette driver seat but I would imagine it would be very small this is a full size 12 inch enclosure.

Will this fit behind the 3rd row seat of a 2015 Cadillac Escalade (Luxury version, not an ESV)?
tee dub  Oct 07, 2017
1 answer
A
I don't believe it will, with the heigh of the box even in the down firing position it will be to thick. But the best way to be sure is to measure the dimensions behind the seat. I think a good way to do so would be rear hatch closed, lay down one side an measure the other sides distance from the hatch to the bottom of the seat back, then the hatch to the top of the seat back.

I wont a good product but the price tag on the new one is a little high. So i was wondering about the open box one and the scratch and dent one. Like what is the difference between the two. And if i wont a mlike new better condition product which one should i get?
cameron  Jan 12, 2015
1 answer
A
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The open box stock item on that JL Audio CP212-W0v3 will be the better of the two since it won't have any marks on it at all. If the customer wants to say money, the scratch and dent will do that but it will have a minor blemish on it. Both open box and scratch and dent items carry the full 60-day return policy, lifetime product support and factory warranty. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
How much louder do you think it is than one JL 12 inch sealed sub? Will this work well inside of a trunk of a 02 Corolla S?
daniel  Aug 09, 2014
1 answer
A
Ported is always louder than sealed in my opinion. I think you would gain a lot since you would be doubling your output with two subs and swithing to a ported enclosure. If your rear seats fold down then it will work well, I could be heard from a good distance, set off an alarm or two and had many people roll up windows in traffic when next to me lol. I enjoyed every minute with these, slight trunk flex too
