Tweeters tough enough for marine use

A good set of tweeters will raise the soundstage and really open up the sound of your boat's system. Perk up your maritime music with JL Audio's M100-CT-SG-TB marine tweeters.

These silk dome tweeters radiate the high frequencies in a broad pattern for excellent sound coverage, and they're treated to withstand exposure to sun and moisture. Corrosion- and UV-resistant polymer housings ensure that they'll last for many seasons on the water. JL Audio includes all the hardware you'll need for flush-mounting your tweeters.

The UV-resistant polymer basket encases and protects the entire structure, and as an added bonus the UV protection ensures the titanium "Sport" grilles will look factory-fresh even after years of exposure to sunlight and spray. The package includes inline high-pass crossovers which you can use to wire these tweeters to existing speakers, or you can use them with any appropriate crossover network.

If you're looking for a sleek, stylish way to mount your tweeters, check out JL Audio's MTPOD-M100-CL billet aluminum tweeter pods.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The JL Audio M100-CT is a 1" silk dome tweeter, engineered and built for marine applications. This M-Series component tweeter is designed to provide superior performance in wide-open environments. The tweeters come with surface-mount and flush-mount brackets, and in-line high-pass filters on the included speaker wires. This pair of tweeters (M100-CT-SG-TB) has the Titanium Sport grille and black polymer frame and mounting cups.

Materials: The M100-CT's 1" dome is made of pure silk which has been specially treated to withstand the harsh marine environment. The polymer frame and mounting cups are resistant to corrosion and UV rays.

High Pass Crossover: The tweeters must be used with an appropriate crossover network or high-pass filter. The included speaker wires (each roughly 5' in length) contain in-line 4000 Hz high-pass filters. If no other crossover is used, whether it is built into the amplifier or an external crossover, the in-line high-pass filters should be used. (The included in-line filters are about 3/4" in diameter and 1-1/2" in length.)

Mounting Options: The M100-CT marine tweeters can be either flush-mounted or surface-mounted, using the included mounting fixtures. The mounting dimensions for each mounting option are as follows:

Flush Mount 0.825 0.492" 2.381" 1.849"

Q
I am running a 6 speaker rockford fosgate system with two 400 watt rockford fosgate amps and a dsr1 , do these tweeters require an additional amp?

I am using one 600w amp powering 2 JL audio 7.7 on a motorcycle. I wired these into the system also and they sound insane! One did stop working and churchfield covered them.

Mike to be able to answer you that question properly, I do need your help first. What head unit radio are you running and what is the what's per channel on the stereo. I'm assuming you are using one of the 400 to run all your door speakers and the other 400 to run your bass correct. This tweeters are amazing and can handle the 150 watts guaranteed I'm doing so LOL. But it does stand up over the main door speakers. I will recomend to run them with your stereo if it is at least 65 to 85 watt per channel that way you will enjoy them, balancing with your door speaker being run with the 400 amp. If you are running factory stereo definitely you will need to use the amp to get what you pay for an amazing quality sound from those tweeters. Hope it help you some.

Q
How do the tweeters stay inside the included pods?

Snap in place. Caution: Easy to snap in hard to take out. Get everything wired up and done how you want it and then make sure snapping them into place is the last thing you do. It is possible to take them out of pods though.

they just snap in in included pot. the surface mounting and flush mounting pot they both have mounting hole on the center, after you secure them you just snap in the theaters. I have also purchase aluminum pots since I'm installing them on a motorcycle. they are perfect fit.Enter
