The affordable W1v3 subwoofer incorporates patented features developed by JL Audio for their legendary W7 subs. Special venting keeps the W1v3 sub running cool for trouble-free performance, while extensive research in cone bonding and motor assembly construction keeps its cone movement linear for precise, dependable output. The cone interlocks with the dust cap for superior rigidity, and a sophisticated suspension system keeps internal parts aligned properly when you're jamming hard.
These subs look as good as they sound.
The low-profile 10W1v3-2 10" subwoofer works best in compact enclosures, so you can put quality bass in smaller and hard-to-fit vehicles. It features a polypropylene cone with an embossed JL Audio logo for a look that stands out as much as the sound. The removable, customizable trim ring lets you put a personal touch on your system, and makes optional grille installation a snap. This punchy W1v3 sub works well with moderate power, delivering impressive performance without costing a fortune.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 225 and 450 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.
A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.
i was looking for a subwoofer to add some clean bass to my truck audio system. This JL Audio sub did this. I have played all kinds of music through this JL Audio Sub, and it makes all of it sound great. Crisp clear lows. Exactly what I wanted.
Pros: Sound, clarity, and easy of installation.
Cons: It didn't come with mounting screws. But no big deal.
As I was trying to find an enclosure within a reasonable price for my 10" kicker solo classic, I found an enclosure that I wound up purchasing from another source. The kicker didn't fit and so therefore I had to find a sub that would fit the enclosure. I've heard and read many great things about JL, that I figured I would give them a try. I purchased this Jl Audio 10w1v3-2 with high hopes that it would at least get close to what I had with the kicker. Being powered with a kicker zx400.1, I was highly disappointed. I gave it a few weeks to see if it would maybe "break in", but unfortunately, that was as good as it was going to get. I searched and searched and finally found someone who would custom make an enclosure for my Dodge Ram and to fit my 10" kicker solo classic. I put the kicker in the truck in the current square enclosure that it's in just to hear how much of a difference it was from the JL. Night and day. The kicker just absolutely smokes it in every possible way. And believe it or not, the kicker has tremendous sound quality as well. I really had wanted for this JL to work out, but maybe on down the road once my solo classic dies, I may try JL again, but it will be the 10w3 subs. Crutchfield refunded me for returning this sub. Great customer service from Crutchfield.
Pros: Build quality was nice and seemed really well built.
Cons: Not what I expected from a JL product, but then again, I was stepping down in quality from my kicker solo classic, and it was a huge step down.
Pros: Sounds great and can uses a small sealed box. Great for small places. sounds great
Nice sub. Very loud with 250w JL amp in a Camaro. Speaker sounds best with lower range bass.
Pros: Sound, Quality
JL audio subs produce very clean low bass, this one is no exception. Works great in my thunderform enclosure running off of a Kicker CX300.1 amplifier.
Pros: great quality subwoofer
I was looking for a little bass for my car, I am not particularly fond of "Thumping" but I still wanted to enhance the sound quality of my system with a base. This 10" is plenty enough for me and produces exactly what I want.

Woofer: The JL Audio W1v3-2 subwoofer features an injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone with an embossed metallic JL Audio logo and a rubber surround for added durability, woofer excursion and bass response.
Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method of improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, the W1v3-2 motor remains linear over a long excursion range, and also maintains a stable, fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. The result is reduced distortion, faithfully reproduced transients, and tight, clean, articulate bass.
Floating Cone Attachment Method (FCAM): JL Audio's patented FCAM technology is an innovative method of bonding the surround/cone assembly to the voice coil/spider assembly. This assembly technique ensures proper surround geometry in the assembled speaker for better excursion control and dynamic voice coil alignment.
Vented Reinforcement Collar: The Vented Reinforcement Collar (VRC) is a composite structure that addresses two issues related to reliability:
Insert Molded Suspension/Coil/Terminal Sub-Assembly: The W1v3-2 features a unique spider, coil and terminal subassembly, assembled prior to installation in the speaker frame for optimum alignment and glue-joint integrity. This type of assembly ensures precise lead wire length, lead wire entry and exit angles, and coil/spider alignment.
Elevated Frame Cooling System: The elevated frame design of the W1v3-2 delivers cool air through slots directly above the top-plate to the voice coil. This not only enhances power handling, but also sound quality by minimizing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression.
Customizable Trim Ring: The woofer comes with a removable ring made of black ABS plastic which can be painted to match the installation theme and create a personalized look. You can purchase an optional grille mesh insert specifically designed to fit into the inner diameter of the trim ring (item number 136SGR1031, sold separately).
Sealed Enclosure: JL Audio recommends an optimum sealed enclosure volume for the 10W1v3-2 of 0.587 ft³ (0.55 ft³ net, plus the sub's 0.037 ft³ displacement), resulting in a -3dB point of 42.3 Hz.
Ported Enclosure: JL Audio recommends an optimum ported enclosure volume for the 10W1v3-2 of 0.937 ft³ (0.9 ft³ net, plus the sub's 0.037 ft³ displacement). The recommended slot port is 1-1/8" (wide) x 10" (tall) x 29-3/4" (long), resulting in a tuning frequency of 32.17 Hz and a -3dB point of 31.65 Hz.
