Product Research

Features

Overview: The ACP208LG-W3v3 MicroSub+ is a compact powered subwoofer, useful in vehicles with limited space. The ported enclosure is loaded with two 8W3v3-0.40 8" low impedance subwoofers (0.40Ω each) and a 500 watt RMS class-D amplifier. The amp uses JL Audio's exclusive DCD amplifier technology, combining direct power conversion (no conventional switching power supply) with an ultra-high current output section. The result is an efficient design (91-94%) with very little heat generated.

Enclosure Design: The enclosure features MDF (medium-density fiberboard), constructed using CNC woodworking equipment, and covered with high-grade automotive carpeting. The driver is protected by a black steel-mesh grille.

Flared Port: The enclosure has a side-firing flared slot-port. The flared slot-port design minimizes turbulence and improves fidelity.

Power/Ground Plug: The power, ground, and remote turn-on wires attach to a removable terminal block; easily unplugged so the subwoofer can be removed when you need more storage space. Each terminal is a screw clamp that will accept up to 8 gauge wire (minimum 8 gauge power and ground recommend).

Audio Inputs: The amplifier section will accept either a line level (RCA) or speaker level signal. A 12" speaker level input harness is included.

Remote Level Control: An optional RBC-1 wired Remote Bass Control (item number 136RBC1, sold separately) allows bass level adjustment from the front of your vehicle.

Controls:

  • Input Sensitivity: rotary control; variable from 70 mV to 1.4 V for the RCA inputs and 280 mV to 5.4 V for the speaker level inputs
  • Turn-On Mode: three position switch:
    • REM: amp turns on when +12 volts DC is applied to the remote terminal
    • DC: the amp turns on when a DC offset voltage is detected on the speaker level inputs
    • Signal: the amp turns on when an audio signal is detected on the speaker level inputs, turns off after 30 seconds without an input signal
  • Crossover: rotary control; the crossover point is continuously variable from 50 Hz to 200 Hz; the slope is 12 dB/octave and the low-pass crossover is always engaged
  • Polarity: two position switch; allows you to reverse the phase of the subwoofer (0°, 180°)

Protection Circuit: The amp is equipped with thermal protection circuit; it will shut down if it overheats.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 36-5/8"
  • Height: 11-1/8"
  • Depth:
    • 5-1/8" (enclosure)
    • 6-3/8" (including grille)

Q
Hello, I'm curious will this dual 8 inch Jl box setup fit behind my 2016 Dodge Ram Crew cab rear seat? Or is the Jl audio 10 inch Stealth box under the rear passenger seat? Thank you.
scott  Mar 14, 2024
1 answer
A
We do not qualify universal subwoofer enclosures like the JL Audio ACP208LG-W3v3 for specific vehicle fit, Scott. We advise taking accurate measurements of your space and comparing to the listed measurements for the subwoofer box. The JL Audio Stealthbox is a vehicle-specific fit for your 2016 Ram Crew Cab, and the model in the link below mounts under the passenger rear seat. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13694049/JL-Audio-Stealthbox.html

Q
What is the frequency response range?
marcus david  Aug 12, 2023
1 answer
A
Overall frequency response for this JL Audio ACP208LG-W3v3 is not listed in the specs from JL Audio, Marc. We cannot determine the exact response the MicroSub+ has, but this enclosure does use a version of the JL Audio 8W3v3 in the link below which has a frequency response listed at 28-250Hz. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_1368W3V34/JL-Audio-8W3v3-4.html

What is required to connect this box to my factory head unit?
lincoln  May 20, 2021

A
You either need a hi lo converter or you can plug the speaker wires directly into the amp. If you use the hi lo you will need RCA's too. You'll also need an amp kit to power it. (Power, ground, and remote)
ricky  May 20, 2021

A amp wiring kit, and a bass knob if you want seperate control (recommened)

What's going to hit harder? The dual JL 8" powered box or the single 10" JL powered box in a Chevy crew cab? Is the dual 8 worth the couple hundred extra bucks?
mike weaver  Nov 16, 2020

A
The dual 8 will be louder. I used to put this box up against any pair of entry level 10s when i worked at Car Toys
fort worth  Nov 16, 2020
A
I couldn't tell you, I went with the dual 8 box 6 weeks ago and have yet to receive it. I've been told JL is backed up and running 6-8 weeks out on anything shipping factory direct. If you want a speaker soon order the 10".
justin  Nov 16, 2020
A
In my opinion yes those two JL 8"s are worth the extra money.

Q
Can this fit in a 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback?
casey drew b.  Sep 16, 2020
3 answers
A
The measurements we list for a sub enclosure to fit in the cargo space of the 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback is: Available area for mounting a sub box in the trunk is: Width (side to side) = 40", Height = 18", Depth (front to rear) = 26" at top, 34" at bottom. With the JL Audio enclosure measuring 36-5/8"W x 11-1/8"H x 5-1/8"D1, you should not have any issues with fitment into your cargo space.

I would say most definitely! I have mine in a 88 BMW E30 coupe, and it fits in beneath the air tank for my Air Ride system. Cars don't get much smaller than mine and for it to fit under the air tank is pretty impressive!
justin  Oct 01, 2020

It will fit in just about any car. You will have to measure your trunk to be sure but i am pretty sure it will.

To add to my previous response, the 5 1/8 height does not include speaker grills so it's a bit misleading. 5 1/8 is for the box itself

Q
I purchased this sub at a store near where I live and had them install it. A few months later I hit a bump in the road and it stopped working but then I hit another bump a few seconds later and it started working again. A few days later it stopped again but never came back on. I figured it must have just been a loose connection or something since it had turned off and then back on before and both of the woofers had stopped not just one but when I took it back to the store to get it looked at, the guy said I blew it. It seemed odd but he said it was under warranty so he took the car around back and replaced the "blown" woofer real quick and told me to go easy on it. Now I am paranoid to turn it up too loud (I have a bass knob under the dash that was also installed at the shop because it was way too loud when I first got it). Does anyone know why it might have blown while not being played very loud or could it have been some faulty wiring that the guy didn't want to admit to doing?
max  Jan 27, 2019
2 answers
A
Power and ground wires may have been loosened and touched but that would of blown the fuse. I doubt you would of blown the woofer (s). A good deal of playing them at a prolonged high distortion level would cause that. I would have no worries to playing these at your normal listening level as long as the connections are secure and the box is mounted in some way. The box shouldn't"bounce" around, this can cause loose connections to the amp and the subs thus causing issues.

Well , I had da same thing happen , but I was moving the box around trying to get best sound . I think I might have pulled the quick release connect a bit. I called back to " Radio active " the gentleman said to swing by the next day . Before heading to the shop the next day , I went to check the connection with my hand , had to giv it a little push to get it come back on

Q
Hello. I recently purchased the dual 8" micro sub box with amp. Also an after market pioneer Head Unit, and all around C2 JL Audio Speakers. I've been experiencing a battery drainage after the car has been sitting (radio not on) and recently had to change out my battery. All this is installed in a 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Core. I only see 2 cable attached to the fitting that goes onto the Amp which is ground and power but REM(ote) has nothing connected. The 'turn-on' selector switch has been on 'Signal'. Should I run a Remote wire? Or may something else be affecting the battery drainage? Any help figuring this out would be highly appreciated. I'm thinking adding a remote wire may have to happen.
luis  Jul 31, 2018

A
Yes you have to have A remote wire installed if not the amp will stay on all the time thus the battery drain. Just Splice it into the remote wire your head unit is connected to. Then the amp will turn on and Off when your head unit does... Problem solved
michael  Aug 10, 2018
A
You might want to get it checked out. I have the same setup without the remote wire. And it works perfectly
rajeev  Aug 10, 2018
A
I can't say it would make a difference, but I set up the remote wire from day one and haven't had any battery drainage issues.

Hi I'm interested in this box and amp for my 2006 Ford F-150. Can any one tell me if it would fit underneath the rear seat?
stanley  Nov 17, 2015
2 answers
A
it should as long as there is no under seat storage
fort worth  May 20, 2021
A
Our research doesn't specify the space underneath the rear seats in your '06 F-150, but we have the dimensions of the JL sub listed on our site as 36-5/8"W x 11-1/8"H x 5-1/8"D1. You may want to measure the area under your seats on your own to see if this would be able to fit back there.
