Product Research

Features

Overview: The ACS110LG-TW1 PowerWedge+ is a compact powered subwoofer, useful in vehicles with limited space. The sealed enclosure is loaded with one 10TW1-0.25 10" low impedance subwoofer (0.25Ω) and a 400 watt RMS class-D amplifier. The amp uses JL Audio's exclusive DCD amplifier technology, combining direct power conversion (no conventional switching power supply) with an ultra-high current output section. The result is an efficient design (91-94%) with very little heat generated.

Enclosure Design: The enclosure features MDF (medium-density fiberboard), constructed using CNC woodworking equipment, and covered with high-grade automotive carpeting. The driver is protected by a black steel-mesh grille.

Power/Ground Plug: The power, ground, and remote turn-on wires attach to a removable terminal block; easily unplugged so the subwoofer can be removed when you need more storage space. Each terminal is a screw clamp that will accept up to 8 gauge wire (minimum 8 gauge power and ground recommend).

Audio Inputs: The amplifier section will accept either a line level (RCA) or speaker level signal. A 12" speaker level input harness is included.

Remote Level Control: An optional RBC-1 wired Remote Bass Control (item number 136RBC1, sold separately) allows bass level adjustment from the front of your vehicle.

Controls:

  • Input Sensitivity: rotary control; variable from 70 mV to 1.4 V for the RCA inputs and 280 mV to 5.4 V for the speaker level inputs
  • Turn-On Mode: three position switch:
    • REM: amp turns on when +12 volts DC is applied to the remote terminal
    • DC: the amp turns on when a DC offset voltage is detected on the speaker level inputs
    • Signal: the amp turns on when an audio signal is detected on the speaker level inputs, turns off after 30 seconds without an input signal
  • Crossover: rotary control; the crossover point is continuously variable from 50 Hz to 200 Hz; the slope is 12 dB/octave and the low-pass crossover is always engaged
  • Polarity: two position switch; allows you to reverse the phase of the subwoofer (0°, 180°)

Protection Circuit: The amp is equipped with thermal protection circuit; it will shut down if it overheats.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 18-1/2" (18-3/4" including wiring)
  • Height: 11-1/8"
  • Depth: 5-1/8" (5-7/8" including grille)

Q
What's your return policy on the open box.?

Greetings Dave. Thank you for asking. Same as new 60 day return policy applies to open box, and scratch and dent items.

Q
Frequency Response - what is the frequency response of this subwoofer?
jasona97  Mar 03, 2023
1 answer
A
This specification is not listed by JL sadly, Jason. We will not be able to nail down an exact number, but we can take a look at the JL 10TW3-D4 speaker in the link below for some guidance. This speaker is extremely similar to the one used in the TW1 enclosure and does play 24hz-200hz. The small, sealed box will of course affect the low-end extension, but those numbers should be a good ballpark for your tuning. I hope this helps! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_13610TW3/JL-Audio-10TW3-D4.html

Q
If I screw brackets to mount this in my truck and keep it secured will it void the warranty and do you sell a kit for that purpose?
conrad  Sep 21, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings Conrad, and thank you for your question. You will not void the warranty by screwing in mounting screws. If purchased from Crutchfield, we will make sure of that. we no longer have the box mounting hardware. It was basically black L- brackets and screws.

Q
If using with an "LC1i" line out converter can I expect similar review expectations as these folks running aftermarket head units connecting rca directly? That little converter is pretty rad but if this box is tuned for a pure signal.??? - I have a 17 GMC Sierra Elevation and the touch screen system is great. No way I'm altering the dash look. I'm just a 40's dad that still likes the 808's to hit when it's time. Not interested in "quaking" as we said in the 90's ?? - I'm also going to upgrade to 6x9 JL audio in the front doors at the same time as installing this powered box. - thanks for any experience shared. Hi Jonathan, I'm pretty sure you will be happy with this particular JL amplified sub. I have one installed in a 2021 Ridgeline black edition with factory premium sound system ( factory head unit) and a epicenter bass restoration unit. This Subwoofer really puts out, I use it mainly for sound quality but it will rattle your mirrors if you turn it up to that level. Also I had the opportunity to try all of the micro-sub units in my vehicle including the ported/sealed 10" 12" and duel 8 inch but this one was to me the best all around.

I'm using this sub in a BMW M4. It is mounted in the trunk using a line out converter. I don't remember which one, but I think it is the LC1i. At subwoofer levels that give accurate frequency response it doesn't hit as well as I might hope. But I think that may be simply because it is in the trunk. If I turn the sub level up, it hits then and doesn't localize the bass to coming from the trunk. It still sounds as though it is coming from the main speakers. Hope this helps.

Does this sub with built-in amp sound better than the version without an amp? I'd probably get a 300/1 or something to power it.

Does this fit behind the second row back seat driver side of a double cab Tacoma 3rd gen?

Yes, but you'll have to do some extensive trimming of the plastic storage bin behind the rear seatbacks. I also did some minor trimming to the plastic cladding on the rear seatback. Fits great in my opinion, but it's not for everyone.

No, this hits hard right out of the box.

I think it sounded good out of the box. It may be a little bit better after a few hundred hours now. I'm not certain. I made adjustments to the crossover and level that probably made more of a difference than break-in.

Q
What's going to hit harder under the seat of a 2020 Chevy crew cab with Bose, the JL powered 10" box or the dual JL powered 8" box?
mike weaver  Nov 16, 2020

A
Depends on the type of music that you'll be listening to. Ported 10 will be louder for R&B. The sealed 10 will be great with rock n roll or anything with the kick drums.

It is okay. I am deciding if it was work the money. I am not technical, so I will tell you what I was told. Do not install where it receives a signal. You have to wire to remote. You may know what that means. Mine would no longer receive a signal, so we had to go back later and install this way. I guess it is according to what your looking for. If you want big bass I would buy a sub amp and sub separately. JL Audio is good stuff. I am not sure it is worth the money.
chris  Jun 12, 2019
A
Yes. It's more of a tighter bass. I listen to rock and heavy metal and I actually has it turned down to reduce some of the bass. I give it a 10/10.

Is there a big difference between the 8 inch and 10 inch? I just purchased the 8 inch one and it sounds great but it really doesn't have much of a low end bass. plus I noticed there's not a huge difference in price.

My suggestion is to make a mock-up of the speaker box from cardboard. Get the dimensions from Crutchfield and make a replica. I used this for my Mazda CX5 and it was incredibly helpful for testing the fit for installation. The real speaker box fit perfectly when I purchased it.

Q
Has anyone installed the PowerWedge+ 10" or 12" Behind the back seat (Not Under the seat) in a 2016 or 2015 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew? For those who don't know, Both Rear Seats fold down to provide some Hidden Storage Space. I see 1 Review of an ACS110LG-TW1 10" PowerWedge in a 2016 F-150 from (Mark S. from Wayzata) He said the 10" fit under the seat without taking up any space. I'm hoping he meant behind the seat. Because if it's under the seat, it is taking up storage space. And I need all the space that I can get. I folded my seats down on my 2016 F-150 and it looks like it just might work. But it's hard to tell with the way the back panel bumps in and out. Really Hoping I could fit the 12" Wedge back there Thanks for any input. KZ

I tried to fit it behind the seat of my 2017 F-150 (same body as the 15 and 16's) and it won't quite fit. If you removed some of the rear cab insulation and carpeting, you might get it to fit. If you don't you will smash the metal speaker grille. I have it under the small rear seat (passenger side) and it fits perfectly there laying flat.

While we do not have the available space researched in that location, we can provide the dimensions of the JL Audio enclosure which you can use to cross-reference against the space you find available there: 21"W x 13.5"H x 6.625"D I hope that helps! Q
Is this box size really smaller than the JL Audio 8" version? How? This box with grill on is thinner than the JL Audio 6.5"? I'm looking for a sub box to fit under the passenger seat on a Dodge Ram Club Cab. Wanting to clear up my back seat where my huge JL 12" box is.

I have the 10" version and it fits perfectly behind the single fold down seat in my 2005 Silverado crew cab.
ryan  Nov 12, 2015
A
The dimensions listed are exactly what I received. It is a thin sub with very low impedance and an amp that works with that low impedance. In my truck this delivers good performance, particularly considering the small amount of space it takes up. It won't outperform a properly powered JL12W3, for example, but it is no slouch.
