Product Research

Features

Overview: The ACS112LG-TW1 PowerWedge+ is a compact powered subwoofer, useful in vehicles with limited space. The sealed enclosure is loaded with one 12TW1-0.25 12" low impedance subwoofer (0.25Ω) and a 400 watt RMS class-D amplifier. The amp uses JL Audio's exclusive DCD amplifier technology, combining direct power conversion (no conventional switching power supply) with an ultra-high current output section. The result is an efficient design (91-94%) with very little heat generated.

Enclosure Design: The enclosure features MDF (medium-density fiberboard), constructed using CNC woodworking equipment, and covered with high-grade automotive carpeting. The driver is protected by a black steel-mesh grille.

Power/Ground Plug: The power, ground, and remote turn-on wires attach to a removable terminal block; easily unplugged so the subwoofer can be removed when you need more storage space. Each terminal is a screw clamp that will accept up to 8 gauge wire (minimum 8 gauge power and ground recommend).

Audio Inputs: The amplifier section will accept either a line level (RCA) or speaker level signal. A 12" speaker level input harness is included.

Remote Level Control: An optional RBC-1 wired Remote Bass Control (item number 136RBC1, sold separately) allows bass level adjustment from the front of your vehicle.

Controls:

  • Input Sensitivity: rotary control; variable from 70 mV to 1.4 V for the RCA inputs and 280 mV to 5.4 V for the speaker level inputs
  • Turn-On Mode: three position switch:
    • REM: amp turns on when +12 volts DC is applied to the remote terminal
    • DC: the amp turns on when a DC offset voltage is detected on the speaker level inputs
    • Signal: the amp turns on when an audio signal is detected on the speaker level inputs, turns off after 30 seconds without an input signal
  • Crossover: rotary control; the crossover point is continuously variable from 50 Hz to 200 Hz; the slope is 12 dB/octave and the low-pass crossover is always engaged
  • Polarity: two position switch; allows you to reverse the phase of the subwoofer (0°, 180°)

Protection Circuit: The amp is equipped with thermal protection circuit; it will shut down if it overheats.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 21" (21-1/4" including wiring)
  • Height: 13-1/2"
  • Depth: 6-5/8" (7-3/8" including grille)

Q
I have a 2012 Wrangler Sport 2 door. Will this fit under the front or back seat?
teresa  Sep 01, 2023
1 answer
A
Unfortunately, we do not have measurements of the space under your vehicle's seats. We do have the measurements for this enclosure, which are 21"W x 13.5"H x 6.625"D. I recommend using these measurements to check against the space under your seats.

Q
what is the db rating for this unit? im trying to compare it to a kicker downward firing unit that had a rating greater than 90 db
albert  Jul 24, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Albert, and thank you for your question. There are a few powered subwoofers with no sensitivity listed anywhere. Unfortunately, we do not measure them ourselves but have to rely on the manufacture's specs. If not on the spec sheet, of course we will not have that information. Perhaps, JL Audio might somewhere, but think if they had it, it would be in the spec sheet. Wish I had better news.

Q
Can I add a 10in subwoofer in a 2014 Mercedes CLA 250?
franknitty  May 06, 2023
1 answer
A
This JL Audio ACS112LG-TW1 is a great choice for any vehicle that it physically fits in, Frank. This is a 12" subwoofer, so it packs a little deeper punch than the 10" models. It appears you have plenty of space in the trunk of the CLA! You will need some extra gear if you are tackling the install yourself like a power wiring kit, speaker wire, and Posi-taps to get the job done. I have paired all the gear in a handy link below with the JL Audio subwoofer, check it out! https://www.crutchfield.com/I-rXYEc222/cart/EmailCart.aspx?emKey=3134349

Q
Can I add this sub to a factory 2022 Ford Explorer with bang and olufson?
craig  Jul 05, 2022
1 answer
A
This JL Audio ACS112LG-TW1 powered sub is universal, it can be installed practically anywhere it physically fits! These are also an Advisor favorite, they really thump for the size. You'll need some additional gear to install it in your ride, check it out! The Crutchfield CK8 8-gauge wiring kit in the first link below is a perfect match. You'll also need some of these Posi taps in the second link below, these can help "tap" in to the speaker signal after the B and O amp and connect the JL subs speaker level inputs with some extra lengths of speaker wire. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_007CK8/Crutchfield-CK8.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_669PP605/Posi-Products-Wire-Connectors.html

I use the JL Audio RBC-1 available from Crutchfield. Tried posting a link to it, but Crutchfield thinks it's my personal info. ??

Q
How low does the driver play, in this enclosure? - the frequency response is not listed in the specs.
scott  Feb 12, 2019

A
I don't have the exact Hz ....in a document either. If I had to guess somewhere around 40 to 120 wil be the audible range
amos  Feb 12, 2019
Q
Why don't they provide frequency response for this sub box? Also how do you get 400 watts RMS when the fuse rating is only 30 amps?
glenn  Aug 24, 2017

A
The enclosure is sealed and the amplifier has adjustable frequency response, also 30 amp furs for 400 watts? What's the problem there?, that's a pretty big fuse, I also have a 4 channel 1200 watt amp that uses 2 30 amp fuses, the amp uses a mosfet power supply like most so 30 amp is more than adequate
timothy j.  Sep 02, 2017
A
Gleen M this powered box has a frequency level knob you can set to hear more or less of the high, med or low frequencys. It is like having an equalizer. For the 400 watts if you take your alternator voltage for most autos 13.8 to 14.0 volt by the 30 amp fuse you get 414 watts this is a round about number where you have the amp maxed out and would damage you amp, speakers, head unit etc hope this info is usefully for you Gleen M
tyler  Aug 26, 2017
A
It Because this amp runs on a slightly higher voltage then 12. most alternators push out 14.5 volts which is less amps with more watts. but if space is an issue then to not get this set up for whatever reason is a shame.. Well worth it... Ive had to date around 15 systems.. This is not in any case the loudest. But it is the smallest and i would put it up to at least half of those other ones.. Pretty clean tones too. And you dont have to find a remote cable. It will sense the speaker signal. nNice
david  Aug 25, 2017
Q
When installing the cables to the amp, do you push the connectors down or screw them up? I'm having issues with the cables pulling out easily and it appears that there is a tooth pointed down. Could anyone let me know so I can go change the installation if needed? Thanks.

A
Screw it down, but the best install would be to crimp the appropriate connector to the end of the wire then slide it in the terminal, that way no issues with the wire catching on an edge or pushing the wire in too far and causing it to ground
timothy j.  Sep 02, 2017
A
Screw down. I had issue with it andnjust trimmed the wire shorter and soilder it to a flat shape and screwed it down and held way better.
christopher  Mar 16, 2017
A
Screw connection down.
vladimir  Mar 16, 2017
A
Start by unscrewing the screws then place the cables and then screw down on the cables. Hope this helps
anthony  Mar 15, 2017
A
You screw the cables into the connector, but the connector is a quick disconnect.

Q
would this sub work on a non navigational 2006 honda civic sedan ex factory radio?
elijah  Nov 25, 2016
4 answers
A
Yes, it also comes with high level inputs so all you need is to use one of your existing speakers and splice and share the input for your sub thru the subs high level input
timothy j.  Sep 02, 2017
A
Work on anything. I had in my golf cart with a iPhone hooked to it. You can hook it up to factory speaker wires for a signal
lane  Nov 26, 2016
A
You would also need line a line converter. They intruduce rca lines to the factory speakers so you can then get the signal/sound to the sub.
anthony  Nov 25, 2016
A
Yes. Just tap into your rear speaker wires and run power. NAV is not a factor. Easy setup.
vladimir  Nov 25, 2016
