Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
So, I finally bit the bullet and bought one of these and I am so glad I did! This is 150% exactly what my sound system needed. This little sub can peacefully fill out the missing sound spectrum from my lightly upgraded system, OR it can vibrate the heck out of everything not properly secured/dynamatted in my xB. This sub is capable of hitting harder and lower than full size 12" Alpine subs I had in a previous vehicle. If my ears serve me right, I got good consistent volume down to about 28Hz. For the longest time, I had been toying with the idea of fabricating a box to tuck under my passenger seat, possibly out of MDF or fiberglass. To anybody considering that option, you really should just save up the money for this little guy. I installed it under my seat in about 15 minutes (including removal and installation of the passenger seat). ...Save yourself the headache. Buy this. Now.
Pros: Very high build quality Great sub/box pairing creates crisp clean bass (or can be turned up to 11 to deafen you) Easy to install -- Only requires a 14mm wrench and a drill Perfect fitment, really maximizes the space available under the passenger seat. You won't mind the price after you buy it. Wire clips are very sturdy. Carpet matches my interior perfectly. Surprisingly lightweight.
Cons: You literally need to drill 2 holes through the floor of your car to properly secure the box. I tried driving around with it unsecured and it slid around a lot. Also the holes where the threaded rods go are open to the inside of the box, so you need to seal those holes if you don't bolt it to your floor. ...As I live in the rust belt, I smothered the entire area around the holes I made in my floor with Toyota seal and then sprayed undercoating liberally around the holes I made to prevent rust
