Our take on the JL Audio C2-350x

JL Audio's Evolution C2 Series speakers

Side view of Evolution C2 speaker JL Audio's Evolution C2 Series speakers bring precision sound to your vehicle. They'll reproduce subtle elements of your music like delicate woodwinds or soprano vocals, then turn on a dime to deliver the deep thrum of the bass or thunder of the drums.

Silk tweeter delivers smooth highs

Silk tweeter

The C2-350X 3-1/2" speakers feature rugged polypropylene cones that can handle plenty of power without distortion, so you get full-bodied tones. The 3/4" silk dome tweeters serve up smooth-sounding high frequencies that won't tax your ears, adding a satisfying dose of realism to your soundstage. Built-in crossovers ensure that the tweeters and woofers reproduce only the frequencies that they were designed to handle, so your tunes play smoothly across the whole musical spectrum. Grilles are not included — factory grilles are appropriate for most installations.

Priced per pair

I installed these in the dash on my 2016 2500 bighorn. They really cleared up the mids and highs. These along with a 8" JL sub made the sound better then my 15 with the alpine premium sound. Installation. Was a breeze with crutch fields included adapters.

I chose JL audio because I Thought they were made in Florida. Wrong! As soon as I opened the box, there it was. The sticker that says made in China. I was pretty ticked actually. Anyway, they sound ok I guess. And I had to notch the left side of my dash (83 C-10) for them to fit.

Pros: Sound ok

Cons: Made in China still has to modify my dash for them to fit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the dash of my 12 ram 1500. Thanks to Crutchfield's free install goodies it a was simple install. The speaker are a huge upgrading the factory stuff. The are really clear and clean. Not bright, just clean. I used a 600hz filter to limit the bass which I highly recommend. I gave these four stars for that reason. JL should have used a higher filter from the start.

Pros: Perfect fit Clear sound Decent price

Cons: Factory bass limit too low needs a higher filter

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had installed a W7 and loved it. I had my big bass... but factory speakers. I gave these a shot, unamplified. These little things are fantastic. Gave me the high end I needed without needing an amplifier. Very happy I pulled the trigger on these. They fit perfectly in the Dodge Challenger 3.5" dash speakers, took about 10 minutes to install.

Pros: Gives a strong, clear high end

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these jl speakers after having installed the Kicker 40CS354 in my 2012 Ram 1500. The JL speakers seem to be in balance with the rest of the stock speaker system. Comparing them with the Kicker speakers I would say the Kicker speaker was a little to bright, and a little dominate to the rest of the system. Both speakers were used with the Pioneer 4000-NEX. WIth the kicker I was constantly chasing sound settings with the eq, but not with the JL. I would recommend spending the extra money and getting the JL.

Pros: Sounds Great, In balance with the rest of the system, & not having to constantly chase sound settings.

Cons: None

Gotta say - I was shocked at the weight when I unboxed them (shocked in a good way). These tiny speakers live up to their brand in sound production. I'm very happy I put these in place in my '12 Ram 4-door.

1983 Ford Thunderbird
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I Drive a 84 ford Thunderbird turbo coupe. I run an 2013 alpine head-unit , polk mm series 5x7 in the rear deck, alpine 500 watt mono amp for my JL audio sealed W3 in the trunk. I needed to purchase a set of speakers for the front dash of my car, my car is old so the dash is flat and the speakers are set into the dash and close to the windshield do i needed speakers that would be able to play loud enough to bounce off the glass and still be able to blend with the rest of the system. These speakers definitely do that they can play loud with nothing but the head-units power and the highs are not to bright and overall the sound is great. good bass response for size, and i trust the JL build quality. speaker looks nice and i love the rubber cover on the magnets. old car so install was kind of tricky but would have been so with any speaker.

Pros: great sound, not bright at high volume, handle volume with head-unit power. good looking speaker.

Cons: that these speakers don't bump as hard as my JL Sub :P

1989 Dodge D Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these in the dash of my 89 W150 and they are much louder than I expected. My A/C is 2-55s (that's 2 windows down at 55 MPH if you never heard it) and my truck is not quiet, until I can get an amp for the door and behind the seat speakers, these are the speakers I hear the most for vocals and highs. When my A/C is cranking I hear them good enough and after a month or so they still sound fine. If I were the late Mr. Ebert and the speakers were a movie they would get two thumbs up!

Pros: Fit my truck even though website said would not fit, louder and clearer than expected

Cons: none, unless you want them to sound like 61/2"s

Great for what it is...

With proper crossover points and being smart enough to know this wont play low you will be impressed... I have the mid crossed at 215 with a 12db slope in the pillars- I cut the cap on the tweeter and am running them active on axis... A bump on everything 8k and up was needed for sparkle or shimmer. Bottom line with a real Midbass for the price it's a win.

Pros: Clean uncolored tonally

Cons: Even with a high crossover point they don't get all that loud- loud enough for most but I'm a fan of 120+db sprints. Going to try to bump the the crossover for daily use.

not impressed

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed these in my 2010 Mazda CX-9 GT. They installed in about 30 minutes, and the quality is much better compared to the stock six speaker stereo dash speakers with much more refined and detailed highs. I noticed after extended listening less fatigue compared to the stock set. I Highly recommend these as a quick, easy, quality, set of replacement dash speakers.

These are great sounding for 3 1/2" speakers. The magnet is huge compared to the stock 3 1/2"s in my 2007 Grand Cherokee. It says they don't fit in my car but I installed them anyway and the only thing is they push a little on the grill but other than that they fit fine. Overall great speakers if you are looking to replace factory ones.

Features

Woofers: The JL Audio Evolution C2-350x coaxial speakers feature a 3-1/2 injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone woofer with a polyether foam surround. The woofer features a 0.75" voice coil on a Kapton Former, a symmetrical roll spider and a Ferrite magnet. These carefully engineered cones deliver the right combination of stiffness, damping, and off-axis response. The speaker also provides good mid-bass (by 3-1/2 standards), thanks to its mechanical clearance, optimized suspension and balanced motor design.

Tweeters: Each C2-350x features a 0.75" silk dome, ferrofluid-cooled tweeter with a damping neodymium magnet. The edge-driven silk dome tweeter is smooth, detailed (on or off axis), and provides great overall performance. Silk is lightweight and great for high frequency extension and efficiency. It is also designed for durability in the extreme automotive environment.

Power Handling: JL Audio lists two power figures in the manual; 25 watts continuous power handling and recommended amp power 10-40 watts RMS. We've listed the RMS power recommendation in the specs table.
