JL Audio's Evolution C2 Series speakers

Side view of Evolution C2 speaker JL Audio's Evolution C2 Series speakers bring precision sound to your vehicle. They'll reproduce subtle elements of your music like delicate woodwinds or soprano vocals, then turn on a dime to deliver the deep thrum of the bass or thunder of the drums.

Silk tweeter delivers smooth highs

2014 Jeep Wrangler
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Swapped out the stock speakers in my 2014 Jeep wrangler Sport. The stock speakers were 6 1/2 " but Crutchfield recommended the 5 1/4" speakers with the adapter kit. I wanted a quick swap out without a lot of fuss and thats what I got. I couldn't get the holes in the adapter bracket to line up with the speakers so I had to drill new holes in the plastic bracket. No big deal. Once I did that, I attached the wire/plug adapter and then mounted the speaker to the bracket/speaker box. Done. all was left to do was to reinstall the speaker back into the Jeep. Instructions to do all of this came in an email download from Crutchfield. Total time for the whole swap out was 30 mins. Speakers sound great I can really hear the difference from the stock speakers. I am planning on adding an amp that will install in the dash behind the radio in the future.

Pros: a good quality speaker, good directions, easy upgrade for the do-it-yourselfer

Cons:

Great

Written by: Jordan from Amarillo, TX on February 8, 2016

I purchased these speakers for my car from a local store called Sound Systems LTD. The only difference is that I bought the 6 1/2 inch speakers. I originally planned to buy the component system because I blew my factory tweeters and currently have none. But I realized I wasn't going to be able to afford the component speakers and higher installation fee at the time. So I went with the coaxial instead. First off, I am incredibly pleased by the clarity and detail of these speakers. They were well worth the purchase price. I have two 12 inch subwoofers in my trunk, so I keep the bass on my deck turned all the way down. But I have turned my subwoofers off and turned my bass all the way back up. Considering that I'm still running these off my factory deck, they hit pretty hard. I wouldn't recommend listening to these with the bass turned up all the time, as the life will decrease significantly. These speakers get really loud, again considering that I haven't replaced my stereo unit. I am over all extremely pleased with this purchase. It has been 6 months since installing these in my doors and I constantly get compliments on how great my system sounds. Not to mention the way my car is designed, the soundstage with these speakers is quite amazing. I can only imagine what the next product in the series could do. I will be selling these at some point this year, but only because I am upgrading to the C3 speakers most likely. Absolutely worth the price!!

Pros: Clarity, Detail, Price, Ease of Installation, Volume, Bass Response, Treble Clarity, Superb Soundstage.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Pros: Ease of installation - Sound Quality

Cons: Cost somewhat high compared to other speakers within size range, but worth it.

Disappointing low frequencies and only moderately better midrange than stock speakers. Not very efficient. The supplied installation adapters required modifications to work on the back deck although fit perfectly in the doors.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are some excellent little speakers, being only five and a quarter inch. They installed easily into a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in the soundbar location. Crutchfield provided everything I needed for a smooth installation. I bought these open box, and I could not tell they were not brand new.

Pros: Blow the factory speakers out of the water

Cons: None

Great sounding speakers, but in my opinion, my alpine type r's awesome sound kinda put these to shame.

Pros: Nice crisp highs

Cons: You will probably need an amp to hear them over your rear speakers.

awesome 2-ways

I put these in the rear doors of my 2011 Nissan xterra. I can't testify to how they hold up as main speakers, but as "filler" they go above and beyond. excellent value.

Great sounding speaker, handels power real well and has great quality.

Pros: Great sound quality, and power handling, pretty easy install

Cons: Jeep wrangler owners will want to be ready for some extra install steps. I had to drill two of the 4 holes on the sound bar. Other than that its a breeze to get them in.

Wayyyy better than Type Rs

Written by: Kyle from Naperville, IL on March 2, 2009

I just got a new car (98 Toyota Avalon XLS) and I've been going all out as I've started from scratch with my audio system. These speakers are wayyy better than the 6.75" Alpine Type Rs I had in my old car. The magnet is huge and the bass is unbelievable, this is matched equally by the not-to-harsh treble. They seem to be built tough with a rubber protector on the magnet and an incredibly solid feel. This was my first time experiencing JL Audio and I must say, it wont be my last.

Features

Woofers: The JL Audio Evolution C2-525x coaxial speakers feature a 5-1/4 injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone woofer with a butyl rubber surround. The woofer features a 1.0" voice coil on a Kapton Former, a symmetrical roll spider and a Ferrite magnet. These carefully engineered cones deliver the right combination of stiffness, damping, and off-axis response. The speaker also provides adequate bass, thanks to its ample mechanical clearance, optimized suspension and balanced motor design.

Tweeters: The Evolution C2-525x coaxial speakers feature a 0.75" silk dome, ferrofluid-cooled tweeter with a damping neodymium magnet. The edge-driven silk dome tweeter is smooth, detailed (on or off axis), and provides great overall performance. Silk is lightweight and great for high frequency extension and efficiency. It is also designed for durability in the extreme automotive environment.

Grilles: The Evolution C2-525x coaxial speakers include front-loading protective grilles with a striking design that combines black steel mesh with satin silver accents. Electroformed logo nameplates can be positioned on the grilles or elsewhere in the vehicle, according to the needs of the installation.

Power Handling: JL Audio lists two power figures in the manual; 60 watts continuous power handling and recommended amp power 15-100 watts RMS. We've listed the RMS power recommendation in the specs table.
