About the JL Audio CL-SSI
The JL Audio CL-SSI signal summing interface lets you use the CL441dsp CleanSweep when you have a factory-installed "premium" sound system that doesn't send full-range signals to all of its speakers.
The CL-SSI combines the bass, midrange, and high-frequency outputs from your premium factory system, and presents a full-range stereo signal to the CleanSweep. The CleanSweep then removes the factory-set equalization from the signal before it travels to your aftermarket amplifiers, speakers, and subwoofers, so you get the best possible sound quality.

Features
Overview: The JL Audio CleanSweep CL-SSI is a dedicated signal summing interface for integrating with "premium" OEM sound systems that do not present full-range audio signals and can be configured to merge 2-way or 3-way OEM signals prior to sending them into a JL Audio CleanSweep CL441dsp OEM Audio Interface (sold separately) for response correction.
Note: The CleanSweep CL-SSI Signal Summing Interface is not a stand alone unit and must be used in conjunction with JL Audio's CleanSweep CL441dsp OEM Audio Interface (sold separately).
2-Way or 3-Way Summing Capabilities: The CL-SSI can be operated in two distinct modes to address OEM signal that have been filtered using 2-Way or 3-Way crossovers. The unit's 2-way or 3-way summing capability provides exceptional application flexibility without the need for y-adaptors, LOC's or any other external accessories.
2-Way Mode:
In this mode, the CL-SSI will sum an OEM subwoofer (or woofer) signal to
front and rear signals that have been high-pass filtered, creating front and
rear full-range output channels while retaining the functionality of the OEM
front-to-rear fader control.
3-Way Mode: In this mode, the CL-SSI will sum an OEM subwoofer or
woofer signal (low-pass filtered) to a mid-bass or midrange signal (bandpass
filtered) and to a high frequency signal (high-pass filtered), creating a
two-channel, full-range stereo output.
Differential-Balanced Inputs: Differential-Balanced Inputs ensure noise immunity and compatibility with a wide range of OEM source units and amplifiers, including those with load-detecting startup logic. Input Range Switching allows any combination of line-level or speaker-level signals to be used as inputs, permitting accurate level setting.
Intuitive Level Settings Indicators: The CL-SSI allows you to quickly balance signal levels without additional equipment. Each input section of the Signal Summing Interface features a green LED optimum level indicator flanked by LED's indicating "Too Low" or "Too High". This allows for quick and accurate level matching via the Level Trim controls in a matter of seconds.
Signal Sense Modes: The CL-SSI interface is designed to act as a turn-on and turn-off control for the JL Audio CleanSweep CL441dsp (sold separately), which will control the turn-on of the rest of the aftermarket equipment in the system. There are two modes of turn-on operation which can be selected.
Signal Sense On: In this mode, the
CL-SSI will only wake up and turn on the CL441dsp when it sense +12V and
also sense an input signal from the OEM audio sources. The CL-SSI will go
into Standby Mode approximately one minute after it sense a loss of input
signal or as soon as the ignition is turned off.
Signal Sense Off: In this mode, the CL-SSI can be activated by a
conventional 12-volt trigger, in the rare event that the OEM system provides
one.
Connections: The JL Audio CL-SSI Signal Summing Interface features the following connections.
Power Connector: The CL-SSI has a
4-pin inline jack that accepts the following connection through the included
color-coded wiring harness - Constant +12V, Chassis Ground, Switched +12V,
Amplifier Turn-On +12V. Since the CL-SSI does not draw very much
current during operation, 18 to 16 AWG wire is ample for making all of these
connections.
Output Connector: The CL-SSI's output harness is designed for direct
connect the OEM input connector of the JL Audio CL441dsp (sold separately).
Input Connectors: The CL-SSI accepts up to six channels (three stereo
pairs - Input A, Input B, Input C) of band-limited input from an OEM audio
source via three 4-pin plugs. Three color-coded input harnesses are included
for connection to each of these plugs.
