You know you're holding a serious piece of sound equipment when you feel the heft of a JX amp. JL Audio designed these amplifiers with sturdy, high-grade parts that ensure excellent heat management, provide high current flow, and deliver stable performance in almost any situation. You won't find blinking lights or meters on the outside of these amps, but you will find oversized output transistors and rugged MOSFET power supplies inside. The sleek, high-mass aluminum heatsink keeps things cool enough to virtually eliminate thermal shut-downs.
The JX1000/1 mono amp puts out up to 1,000 watts RMS to your sub, so you'll experience thunderous bass in your music. Use the variable low-pass filter and bass boost to tune the amp to your subwoofer system. An optional remote level control lets you turn the sub up or down from the front seat. The amp includes speaker-level inputs, along with preamp inputs and outputs, so it's ready to work in virtually any system.
You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.
I've had this amp for a few days and boy does it Kick butt! Clean strong bass for my two alpine 12d4! I have In a mustang so u already know how strong it sounds....
Pros: Great bang for your buck
Cons: U can't go wrong with this Amp!
JL audio makes some of the best equipment and this amp is no slouch. Its powering my two 12" JL audio TW3 wedge subs and it is unreal how hard they can pound, but very clear. Frequency down to 60hz on the amp, 85hz on my deck crossover. Bass boost is all the way down and its STILL loud, clear, punchy. I also have 4 fosgate p1683's in my doors, powered by another JL audio JX360 4 channel, and the result is a concert in my truck. I get so many compliments on how loud, but yet how clear my stereo is. Thank you JL audio for making such a high quality product!!
Pros: 500 watts at 4 ohms is exactly what I need and this amp does an excellent job.
Cons: No cons, this amp slams.
This is a great product i don't think I could think of any cons of it I love it. It's sounds amazing in my truck I couldn't be happier
Great amp with superb sound quality pushes true rms and is worth every penny
Pros: Small yet powerful budget friendly
Cons: Not 1 ohm stable
I currently am running my two type R 12's at 2 ohms off this bad thing... recommended by the my Installer/retailer... seems to be plenty loud.. haven't really exceeded midway on my boost. yet i have the knob in the front separate from the interface... (preferred) Im really surprised how the performance handles... definitely can see where an eventual hearing problem might arise.. Lol :)
Pros: if you have to go bigger and greater not for you then.. i think its perfect to really take a simple sounding system over the edge and really rattle some bolt and everything else attached to your ride....
Cons: it seems to get a little warm... maybe i should jus keep my seat down to avoid any excessive heat
This amp puts out the exact recommended RMS for my 2 JL 12w3v3-2's but with the 2 ohm subs hooked up this amp on a 2ohm load the amps gain only needs to be turned up 1/4 of the way. This amp makes the hairs on my arms vibrate when the stereo is blasted and the bass hits the lowest tones. setup sounds so nice. You can also hear my car about 5 seconds before i turn onto my street which is well over 100 ft away. This is my best system yet and by far my favorite. I have had it for over 2 years and it still impresses me when i turn it on.
Pros: its really punchy im afraid that if turn the subs up anymore ill blow my back window out of my car waaay before im even in the danger zone of blowing my subs.
Cons: i wish it came with the remote volume knob instead of having to buy it separately. other than that there are none
Got amp installed on 2 clifdesign 10's and they couldn't handle the power so i
upgraded to 2 DAD definitive audio 12's from Performance audio in Tyler,
Texas. Thats just what i needed these 12's powered by the JL 1000 / 1 are very
strong. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS AMP but only push
woofers that can handle the power.
Getting amp installed tomorrow. Really wanted to go with 1000/1v2, dealer told me that
the JX amp with new technology would jam just as hard. Hopefully i want be dis
appointed. I will update comments after tomorrow (2-18-2011).

High-Mass Heat Sink: A heavy extruded aluminum heat sink is designed to keep the JL Audio JX series amplifier in a comfortable thermal range during demanding operation. This high-mass, extruded heat sink removes heat from the amplifier circuitry, extending high-power operation. This improves reliability and reduces the frequency of thermally related shut-down event.
Protection Circuitry: The JX1000/1D's protection circuitry automatically shuts the amplifier down if thermal limits are exceeded, a short-circuit is detected in the speaker wiring, or if low supply voltage limits are reached.
Status Indicator Lights: There are two status indicator lights on the right side of the amplifier.
Input Sensitivity: The Input Sensitivity Control is used to match your source unit's output voltage to the input stage of the amplifier for maximum clean output.
Low Pass Crossover: The JL Audio JX1000/1D monoblock amplifier is equipped with a 12dB/octave Butterworth low-pass filter with variable frequency selection from 50 to 200Hz.
Bass Boost: The amplifier is equipped with a variable 0 to +12dB, 45Hz Bass Boost.
Remote Level Control: The JX1000/1D is equipped with an RJ-25 connection for an optional wired Remote Level Control (136RBC1, sold separately) that allows volume level adjustment of the amplifier from the front of your vehicle.
Power/Ground/Turn-On Terminals: The monoblock amplifier features set-screw terminals for the power, ground, and remote turn-on connections.
Note: The Amplifier is not equipped with a fuse. An external 80-amp AFS, AGU, or MAXI fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 80-amps, the original should be replaced with a 80-amp fuse
Speaker Output Terminals: The JL Audio JX1000/1D features four set-screw speaker terminals for an easy parallel subwoofer connection. The monoblock amplifier's four set-screw speaker terminals will accept 16 to 8 AWG speaker wire. A 2.5mm hex-wrench is supplied for making connections.
Preamp Inputs: The monoblock amplifier features one set of stereo RCA input jacks. The amplifier features a dedicated Input Sensitivity gain control for these inputs. These controls are designed to match the input sensitivity of the JX1000/1D to the specific signal source that is feeding it. The amplifier's low-level input can be set between 200mV-4V RMS.
Speaker Level Inputs: The JL Audio JX1000/1D also accepts speaker level signals, including those from factory systems (without the need for a line-output converter), via the supplied 10" speaker-level harness. The amplifier's high-level input can be set between 2V-10V RMS.
Preamp Outputs: The JX1000/1D incorporates a pass-through preamp output sections, so that additional amplifiers can easily be connected to the same signal(s) feeding the monoblock amplifier. These preamp output signals are buffered to prevent noise and are always preamp level, regardless of the level of signals feeding the amplifier's inputs.

I've owned several different brands of high quality mobile audio amps, and JL Audio is superior to all of them in many ways. I have been using JL for over 15 years, and I will probably never change. [ David Feb 01, 2016 ]
I love JL's subwoofers, they're my absolute favorite. The sound quality can't be beat. I don't like my car to rattle, I like that nice clear sounding bass. JL stays on point. So I bought this amp to pair them up, I can't wait to hear how they sound. This amps give me a few options to run 1000w or 500w. I'll start off with 500w. The sound quality can't be beat. [ William Dec 04, 2015 ]
This amplifier is not 1 Ohm stable so you'll need to be able to wire the subs for at least 2 Ohms. I hope that helps! [ Ryan Jan 01, 2016 ] Staff
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The JL Audio JX1000-1 has speaker level inputs so you can tap into the rear speaker wires. You don't need a line output converter. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Jul 09, 2015 ] Staff
My set up consists of two JL Audio 10W3V3-4's & the JL Audio JX1000/1D. The subs are 4ohm but I'm going to wire them in parallel so they each can get the 500 watts the amp can deliver. With one sub there are limited options so my recommendation would be to go with two subs. It is a bit much for my main genre of music which is jazz but I do like old school hip hop & R&B along with some new school music. Point is when I want clean, hard hitting bass I have it. Take into consideration how much you are willing & can afford to spend & your style of music & hit up the advisors. That helped me a great deal & helped me understand the components & what is suitable for my flavor of music. Oh, almost forgot...space! How much of your vehicles trunk or hatch back or SUV space are you willing to devote to your sub box because it is going to take up space. My box build will be complete next week so I'll let you know how my system turns out. Til then, happy listening! [ Tarick Mar 14, 2015 ]
What's up K! I have not put my system together yet because I am building my own box so I can't offer up any credible feedback on performance just yet but when I was shopping for all my components, I asked a lot of questions as to the amps capability. I am almost certain it's capable of running as low as two ohms, if you were using two subs like I am. I can research this a little further and get back to you but I think it's safe to say no...it can't go as low 1ohm...but don't quote me just yet. [ Tarick Mar 13, 2015 ]
I have the same mono block amp but it set at 2 ohms and its is pushing my JL 10w6v3-d4 sound good also I install the JL clean sweep which is an Oem integration.. To have the clean crisp sourround sound... [ Alwin Mar 11, 2015 ]
Send it back and get a better amp, I bought the same amp and I am not impressed at all [ Jerome Mar 10, 2015 ]
