You know you're holding a serious piece of sound equipment when you feel the heft of a JX amp. JL Audio designed these amplifiers with sturdy, high-grade parts that ensure excellent heat management, provide high current flow, and deliver stable performance in almost any situation. You won't find blinking lights or meters on the outside of these amps, but you will find oversized output transistors and rugged MOSFET power supplies inside. The sleek, high-mass aluminum heatsink keeps things cool enough to virtually eliminate thermal shut-downs.
The JX250/1 mono amp puts out up to 250 watts RMS to your sub, so you'll experience plenty of full bass in your music. Use the variable low-pass filter and bass boost to tune the amp to your subwoofer system. An optional remote level control lets you turn the sub up or down from the front seat. The amp includes speaker-level inputs, along with preamp inputs and outputs, so it's ready to work in virtually any system.

You might think you don't need an amp because you have a 400-watt system in your car, or because your new stereo puts out 50 watts a channel. But those are peak wattage ratings, which may boil down to 15 or 20 watts per channel, using the more realistic RMS rating. An amp sends your speakers the power they need to deliver your music with clarity and impact, whether you're using factory speakers or high-performance components. And low-frequency reproduction requires lots of power, so an amp is an absolute must if you're adding a sub to your system.
Great amp. I'm using it to run a 2ohm sub. No issues what so ever. Plenty of power for my application.
Used this amp to power a 10" JL stealthbox in my 2015 Ram Crew Cab. I kept the head unit and ran a Active LOC from rear door speakers. Hardly have it turned up very much and the bass is unbelievable. You can't go wrong with JL Audio. I have been in love with JL products since my teen years....41 now. If you are looking to power a single sub, this amp will definitely get the job done.
Pros: Price, Quality of Product, Ease of installation
This amp was the one recommended in the documentation for the JL Audio Stealth Box for a Nissan Xterra, and it's perfect. Also, it fits perfectly under my passenger seat. I highly recommend also getting the JL Audio RBC-1 remote bass control.
Pros: Provides great sound to a 12" sub Fits well under the passenger seat of a Nissan Xterra Available remote control gives great flexibility
Had it for a week. Went into protect mode running a pair of jl audio 8s. Exchanged it. Second one lasted 4 days, returned it last a week. Gave up on Jl audio.
This is a great amp! I have it powering one Memphis 15-PR12S4 250 RMS. It pushed the sub so hard it split the seams on my sealed box! Now i need to build a custom box, Haha. This amp provides amazing sound quality and great power! Easy adjustments and a great value. And of course, since its a JL amp, it is built amazingly well.
Pros: Great power, sound quality, well built, Great Value!
Cons: None so far!
Have been wanting this amp for a long time. Will never buy any other brand besides JL Audio.
Sounds great and a great company!!
One kick and amp, the best amp I've ever owned.
This amp provides smooth undistorted sound while running exceptionally cool. It delivers volume levels of higher rated amps of other brands. The smooth classy finish blends with the nice interior of the vehicle. Great match for my JL W3 sub
Pros: Excellent sound quality True wattage ratings Classy finish Easy setup
Cons: A little pricey but better than any other amp at that price
Runs 2 of my 10w0's perfect.
Pros: Size price
I am quite impressed with the quality and performance of JL Audio amps., especially for the price. This amp is paired with a JL Audio Stealthbox, and is a perfect match. It hits hard and stays cool/warm to the touch. Overall, I'm very happy.
Pros: Price, performance, size, reputation.
Very happy with this amp. It matches perfectly to my Kicker TC10 compact sub. The bass is well matched and defined to my Pioneer DEH 8600BT head unit. I do not know if it is the AB class circuitry but this amp offers great fidelity. I had a JL class D AH1400 amp and it was a bit "boomy" at the low end. The JL 250 amp is perfect for those looking for crisp bass without needing huge seismic rattling power.
Pros: great defined fidelity. smooth bass without distorting "boomyness"
It has only been connected for less than a week, but as usual JL has done its job again. I have not noticed the amp get hot after extended play time. The sub it is connected to (20 yr old JL 12 W1-4in a bandpass box) and it hits hard enough for what I am using it for. It hits the 20hz notes clearly. On the other end Crutchfield has come through as well with excellent instructions great price and friendly staff that has been able to help me out when ever I get stuck.. I would suggest this amp to anyone driving a sub that does not have outrageous power requirements.
Pros: Great directions regading installation. NIce power as mentioned above.
Cons: None so far
Paired this with a single 8W1v2 4ohm sub. I had the sub on a factory amp for a few days before the JL Audio JX250/1 came in. On the factory amp the sub sounded slightly better than the original sub did. Once I hooked up the JX250/1 the sub came alive!! I really can't believe the sound quality from these products! Could not be happier with both products from JL!!
Pros: Sound quality, runs cool, looks great, doesn't miss a beat.
I had a Alpine head unit with some 6 1/2 polk speakers installed in my 200 GMC standard cab.It just was not loud enough for me so I purchased a small alpine power pak. It got loud but the highs just too high and not enough bass, old time rock music just didnt sound right So i went to Ative Radio and the guy suggested an amp and sub to bring out the bass. checked around and was interested in the 500watt Alpine and sub. But no the box wouldnt fit behind the seat in a reg cab truck. I went back to the guy at Active Radio and he suggested the JX250/1 and a 250 watt sub. I was not wanting it due to low wattage and didnt think it would do the trick but went with it anyway. Wow Wow Wow, now the old time rock and roll sounds, well amazing. So yes you can buy this amp and be very pleased i assure you. The only reason i didnt give it the highest rating is I havent had it long enough to see if it will hold up. I now trust the guy and take his word it will be around a long time.

High-Mass Heat Sink: A heavy extruded aluminum heat sink is designed to keep the JL Audio JX series amplifier in a comfortable thermal range during demanding operation. This high-mass, extruded heat sink removes heat from the amplifier circuitry, extending high-power operation. This improves reliability and reduces the frequency of thermally related shut-down event.
Protection Circuitry: The JX250/1's protection circuitry automatically shuts the amplifier down if thermal limits are exceeded, a short-circuit is detected in the speaker wiring, or if low supply voltage limits are reached.
Status Indicator Lights: There are two status indicator lights on the right side of the amplifier.
Input Sensitivity: The Input Sensitivity Control is used to match your source unit's output voltage to the input stage of the amplifier for maximum clean output.
Low Pass Crossover: The JL Audio JX250/1 monoblock amplifier is equipped with a 12dB/octave Butterworth low-pass filter with variable frequency selection from 50 to 200Hz.
Bass Boost: The amplifier is equipped with a variable 0 to +12dB, 45Hz Bass Boost.
Remote Level Control: The JX250/1 is equipped with a RJ-11 connection for an optional wired Remote Level Control (136RBC1, sold separately) that allows volume level adjustment of the amplifier from the front of your vehicle.
Power/Ground/Turn-On Terminals: The monoblock amplifier features set-screw terminals for the power, ground, and remote turn-on connections.
Note: The Amplifier is not equipped with a fuse. An external 30-amp AFS, AGU, or MAXI fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 30-amps, the original should be replaced with a 30-amp fuse
Speaker Output Terminals: The JL Audio JX250/1 features four set-screw speaker terminals for an easy parallel subwoofer connection. The monoblock amplifier's four set-screw speaker terminals will accept 16 to 8 AWG speaker wire. A 2.5mm hex-wrench is supplied for making connections.
Preamp Inputs: The monoblock amplifier features one set of stereo RCA input jacks. The amplifier features a dedicated Input Sensitivity gain control for these inputs. These controls are designed to match the input sensitivity of the JX250/1 to the specific signal source that is feeding it. The amplifier's low-level input can be set between 200mV-4V RMS.
Speaker Level Inputs: The JL Audio JX250/1 also accepts speaker level signals, including those from factory systems (without the need for a line-output converter), via the supplied 10" speaker-level harness. The amplifier's high-level input can be set between 2V-10V RMS.
Preamp Outputs: The JX250/1 incorporates a pass-through preamp output section, so that additional amplifiers can easily be connected to the same signal(s) feeding the monoblock amplifier. These preamp output signals are buffered to prevent noise and are always preamp level, regardless of the level of signals feeding the amplifier's inputs.

Everything u carry has always been GREAT QUALITY.... [ RYAN Jan 25, 2016 ]
JL audio makes awsome stuff [ KURT Dec 05, 2015 ]
I followed the directions provided with the amp for all the wiring and connections. Sorry I could not be more helpful. [ KEN Nov 26, 2015 ]
Anthony you can not bridge this amp. It will become unstable bridged and go into a safe state. Meaning the amp will shut down. Also you have to be careful if you are running the more than one sub. If you are running more than one sub you need to check the ohm rating on the subs. Depending on the ohm rating on the subs will determine if you need to wire the subs in series or if you can run the subs in parallel. Hope this helps. [ Kurt Nov 25, 2015 ]
I can't quite remember but it is in the manual. [ BLAINE Nov 25, 2015 ]
No you can not. It's a mono amp. But I found out you need to run 2 positive and two negative wires to a 4om single voice coil speaker [ Steven Aug 24, 2015 ]
Yes it can be bridged [ BOO`S SECONDHAN Aug 23, 2015 ]
The amp only has one output so it can not be bridged. [ Kurt Aug 23, 2015 ]
NO you can't it is a single channel amp. If your looking tobridge checheck out 2 or 4 channel amps. [ kenneth Aug 23, 2015 ]
I bridged mine. Only noticed a slight difference but it will work. [ Albert Aug 23, 2015 ]
I'm currently using the JL.AUDIO 10w6, and its powered by the JL 500/1, perfect match and incredible (Awesome) Bass and Sound, plays exceptionaly Clean and Clear "PERFECT MATCH" Sounds Awesome!!!!. [ Craig Jun 11, 2014 ]
I have this amp and stealthbox in my 2006 silverado, love it... [ JOHNATHAN May 30, 2014 ]
With this amp it's a mono amp so you will need to find out what ohm rating your speakers are and wire them the correct way so they read for 4 ohms at the amp [ Steven Aug 24, 2015 ]
The answer to this is in the manual, you can go on jl audios site for it. I connected it to one so I can't say from experience. I know you can though as there are connections for two subs. [ BLAINE Apr 21, 2014 ]
Wire the subs in parallel if they are 2 ohm. 4 ohm subs can be wired in series down to 2 ohm. [ joseph Apr 21, 2014 ]
