Built for life on the water

Built from the ground up for the marine environment, the M10IB5-CG-WH features a corrosion-resistant polymer basket that seals off the sub's internal structure for extra protection. The marine-grade synthetic fiber spider, injection-molded polypropylene cone, and synthetic rubber surround provide top performance, while shrugging off the corrosive effects of sun, salt, and moisture.

The UV-resistant polymer basket encases and protects the entire structure, and as an added bonus the UV protection ensures the grilles will stay white, looking factory-fresh even after years of sun exposure.

Mount it almost anywhere

The subwoofer's motor structure allows extended cone movement, so you'll hear bass that's loud and low, yet precise and smooth. JL Audio designed the M10IB5-CG-WH for "free-air" applications, so you don't have to put it in a box to enjoy great-sounding bass. You can mount the M10IB5-CG-WH in a bulkhead, storage compartment, or wherever you have the space for it.

When I heard about JL audio I only focused on the thing that everyone asks first. Well how much are they?? Well, when they say you get what you pay for!! This product far superseded my expectations!!!! JL Audio products are amazing. I put this sub in my boat and it ROCKS!!!! I would give it 3 thumbs up but I only have two hands!!! I love this sub. I've had car subs in past that had to be in box to sound good. No box needed with this. It sounds great and saves a lot of space.

Pros: No box needed. Saves space. Sounds great.

This is the second one I've installed on a boat and they have both been great performers. Best Sub in its class for the marine environment.

Great once set up

Rineholio from Walla Walla, WA on 9/2/2008

I have a 25 foot aluminum jet-boat with bench seats like an RV that can be made into a bed. It has glass sliding windows on the sides, and a soft top. The sub is mounted on the front of the right seat box facing forward. I run it with a JL M6450 Marine Amp that puts out 75 watts for 4 speakers and 150 watts to the sub. I run JL for the regular speakers too. The sub is an infinite baffle design, and I spent a lot of time adjusting the head and the cross-overs on the amp to get things right, but just couldn't tune out the boominess good enough to suit me. I then fired up the saw and built a sealed box that the instructions said you could use. Now it rocks. The sub blends in perfectly with the other speakers and the whole system sounds about as close to lifelike as you can get in a boat. The sub doesn't hit really hard, but it's very musical. I like Eminem and the lows sound exactly like they should. If you want it to hit harder, try 300 watts or so. The over all sound of this system is so clean you don't realize how loud you're really playing it. You really feel the bass if you grab onto the boat. Hope fish are attracted to music. I want to add another to the rear of the box aiming sideways. As you walk from the closed front of the boat where the current sub is to the rear opening, the bass fades.
