For outstanding sound in your boat

JL Audio built the M770-CCS-CG-WH component speakers to deliver powerful sound that'll cut through the noise when you're tearing along your favorite stretch of water. Designed to be mounted in your boat's bulkheads, these rugged speakers use marine-grade stainless steel, synthetic fibers, and UV-resistant polymer baskets to surround and protect their inner workings against humidity and salt. As an added bonus the UV protection ensures the grilles will stay white, looking factory-fresh even after years of sun exposure.

JL Audio M770-CCS-CG-WH

Powerful sound for your boat

Covering the highs and lows

Two 7.7" woofers deliver strong bass with stiff mica-injected polypropylene cones suspended in durable synthetic-rubber surrounds, while powerful neodymium magnets cut down on weight without affecting performance. The smooth-sounding treated silk dome tweeters disperse the high frequencies in a wide pattern for excellent stereo imaging. Surface- and flush-mount tweeter housings provide flexible mounting options.

High-quality crossover networks

High-quality 2-way crossover networks route the highs and lows to the appropriate drivers for a winning combination of clean sound quality and speaker efficiency. JL Audio attaches the crossovers to the woofer baskets, so you don't have to worry about where to mount them.

Are You Ready To Rock?!

These speaker are some of the best you will ever hear on the water. I drive four sets on my 25' weekender. Two sets on the swim platform are driven with an 800/8v2 bridged to 4 channels and the other two sets are in the cockpit along with 2 jl audio 10" subs. They are driven with the 1000/5v2. Mine might not be the loudest but it will hold it's own. I will say the sound quality is one of the best I've heard.

Pros: Handles power with no problem. Good clean sound. Attractive appearance

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought a pair of JL 770 with the tweeter and installed in old speaker holes which had to be expanded. Had a pair of Alpines that came with the boat in the cockpit. Easy installation and a superior sound. The tweeter is surface mounted with a hole for the wires and was easy to install and connect to the main speakers. Great lower end and ok high end. Doesn't need a sub woofer in a sail boat cockpit.

Pros: Easy to install and good sound improvement over most other options.

Cons: None

the best

I have 4 pair of these in my 27' powerquest along with 4 - 10" subs. All powered by 4 amps, 2 MHD-750/1 and 2 MHD-600/4. This set up works GREAT. I do not know how you could get a better sounding system. REAL deep base, crystal clear mid's and awesome highs. All crystal clear, and PERFECT sounds. NO distortion. AWESOME !!! People from accross the lake could hear the perfect sound. DNR did stop by and told us to turn it down a bit-- campers said it was too load, it interfeared with their camper music. Warden did however say its the best and loadest sound system on the lake. AGAIN -- awesome set-up.

Pros: all positive.

Cons: nothing wrong

By far the best

The price of these speakers will make anyone consider the other options but these speakers are no exception to the old rule: "You get what you pay for."

I've had these speakers on my boat for three years now and they sound as good as the day they were installed. I have an offshore fishing boat and they have been fully challenged by the elements. They've seen constant UV rays, gallons of salt spray and all the hardships that come with running a small boat offshore and they're held up to it all. Never have I been so happy to have spent the money to get the best.

I've had multiple marine stereos in my life and these have set the bar so high that I hope JL continues to produce their marine line for decades to come. So to conclude, If you're shopping for that satisfying audio that might just make you feel that your boat is the only place where music is done justice, I urge you to justify the expense. Power them right and look forward to turning it up loud.

My Setup: two pairs fetching 40watts RMS a channel via 4 channel amp.

Product Research

Marine Tested: JL Audio's marine speakers go through ultraviolet testing chambers (to simulate years of sun exposure) and salt fog chambers (to simulate years of exposure to salt-water environments) to assure you years of durability and high performance.

Woofers: The JL Audio M770-CCS-CG-WH Marine Component System features 7.7-inch diameter woofers that provides 20% more sound radiating area than typical 6.5-inch designs and also benefit from an oversized 1.25-inch diameter voice coil for additional power handling. The JL Audio Marine Cockpit woofers features an injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone woofer with UV inhibitors, a synthetic rubber surround and a precisely engineered dust cap profile for smooth upper-end response. The woofer uses a marine-grade synthetic fiber spider with a progressive roll design and a vented motor structure with a marine grade stainless steel rear diffuser plate.

DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method aimed at improving dynamic motor behavior. The DMA-optimized long-excursion design enhances output, bass extension and power handling of the speaker.

Tweeters: The Marine Cockpit Component System features separately mounted 1" treated silk dome tweeters with a specially formulated treatment to withstand UV and salt-spray exposure. The dome tweeters use an oversized neodymium magnet for higher efficiency levels and are Ferrofluid-cooled and damped for improved response and power handling capabilities. The tweeters come supplied with surface and flush mount fixtures.

Flush Mount: Mounting Height = 0.492", Mounting Depth = 0.697", Frame Diameter = 2.382", Cutout Diameter = 1.855"
Surface Mount:
Mounting Height = 1.002", Frame Diameter = 2.434", Screw Depth = 0.542"

Crossover: The JL Audio Marine Component System utilizes a true 2-way crossover network with 1st order low-pass and 2nd order high-pass circuits. The crossover network also features a polyswitch solid-state tweeter protection which prevents tweeter failures due to abuse and resets automatically. The crossovers are mounted directly to the woofer's polymer basket, requiring no additional mounting provisions.

Polymer Baskets And Grilles: The Centrex, UV-resistant polymer basket and grilles protect the component system's woofers, crossovers, motor structure and tweeters from the marine environment.
