These rugged speakers deliver powerful output that'll cut through the combination of wind, water, and engine noise. The weatherproof cone is suspended in a durable synthetic rubber surround for great sound and long life, and the UV-resistant polymer basket surrounds and protects the entire structure.

The 3/4" treated silk dome tweeters render brilliant highs, and they're mounted directly to the grilles for optimal sound radiation. You'll hear all the details of your music, even when the throttle is forward and you're skimming over the waves. High-quality 2-way crossovers mounted to the woofer baskets ensure the woofer and tweeter work in perfect concert.

Great speakers AAAA +++++ great sound nice and loud too ;-)

Incredible Hatteras upgrade

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently installed a pair of these 7.7" JL Audo speakers to replace an older pair of 6.5" Polyplanners in a 50' Hatteras Cockpit. The sound is incredible, with greatly improved imaging and bass vs the old speakers. Driven by 80 watt at 4 ohm per channel amp which is more than enough

Pros: Great sound. Clean sharp. Great bass. I am an old time audiophile who is not easily impressed. Crutchfield recommended these speakers. They were right on with my application.

Cons: Had to cut a bigger hole. Clearly worth it!

Awesome

Excellent speakers for Boat

I installed the 7.7" pushed by a marine Rock Fosgate 400 to the tower on my boat. These speaker are amazing w/ strong base and very clear highs. They are paired w/ JL marine 6.5" above the helm. They are outside 100% of the time, but the humidity or water does not effect the sound. JL marine is fantastic for water

Pros: Very affordable cost w/ excellent sound. Best marine speakers on the market

Cons: none

Best marine speaker. Great power handling & frequency response without distortion at high levels. Don't need the SW unless you want to go really load and have the whole anchorage listen to your music.

Pros: Great lows, mids & highs.

Cons: Expensive. That coconut white.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed 2 pair of the 770's, 1 pair of 650's a 10" Sub and a healty pair of amps in the cockpit of my 34' cruiser. Clean and bright sound above and beyond the rumble of two big blocks, wind and surf.

Pros: The fit and finish of the JL Marine products is exceptional. When you see them you know they mean buisness while maintaining a classy, not trashy look.

Cons: 10 " Sub should have a cut out template supplied in the box.

Like the old saying goes..."You get what you pay for" These speakers ROCK!!! I had a chance to hear these in a local store in the un-amp mode. I was able to test out other named brand speakers at the same time. I the sound the JL's produced was a 1000x clearer and sharper than the others. I kept asking the sales person if he was turning on the amp when he switch over to the JL's and he said no. Great product. If you are not sold yet on these speakers based on the reviews here..I suggest you find a boat that has any JL's installed and hear the difference for yourself.

Pros: Well worth the extra money. Great sound with or with out an AMP!

Cons: NONE!!!

I was so impressed with the 6.5" speakers that I had to try these when replacing some blown speakers. The full spectrum of the music that came to life was amazing. Nice bass even without a woofer. I have a pair running off the stereo only, and a pair that is amplified. They both sound great.

Pros: Great sound

Cons: A little spendy.

JL Audio 7.7 Coaxial marine speakers

Written by: Chris from Katy, TX on March 13, 2014

Upgraded our standard basic Clarion speakers running off of the head unit to these JL coax speakers running off a tiny marine JL xd amp. I had doubts that just a two speaker upgrade inside the boat would make much difference but even going through chop at 30 mph every detail of the music is clear and refined. Bright but not too tinty. Even swimming around the boat these are very audible even though they aren't up on a tower. They don't throw sound far like a horn loaded tower speaker but the quality of the sound is dead on.

Pros: Nice, rugged, clear, clean, mid bass, hi-fi

Cons: Expensive, nice to add some color options, not much to be picky on.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great marine speakers. They sound great are easy to install. JL makes a great product. Very few companies make a 7.7 inch marine speaker. I went with the mid range price instead of the most expensive JL speaker because of the marine environment. Very happy

Pros: Water resistant. Sound great

Cons: none

Sweet upgrade from 6.5"

Written by: John from Rochester, NY on December 31, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was really a nice upgrade from 6.5 inch speakers. First, in my opinion for the money, JL Audio makes the finest marine speakers and you can be proud to know they are built right here in the USA. So if you have the room to mount a larger speaker you'll really enjoy the improvement. I put mine in the arch and it was easy to enlarge the mounting hole. Depth not an issue. I'm not a really sub-woofer bass kinda guy, I just like clean sound, but the bass on these are impressive. I am not even considering a sub-woofer now. If you're on the fence, get these and you won't regret it. The only issue I had during installation was one of the stainless mounting screws. I spun the head right off it. I ended up making the pilot holes a little bigger than recommended and not a problem.

Pros: Clear crisp sound, awesome bass, well built (USA), looks awesome, great value for quality.

Cons: Cheap screws

These are top notch speakers. The sound is crystal clear and they can handle a lot of power that an amp puts out. They sound great with the JL M 600/6 marine amp that I have on my boat. You cannot beat the quality that JL puts out. I suggest you only buy from an Authorized Dealer Like Crutchfield.

Features

Marine Tested: JL Audio's marine speakers are built to exceed industry standards for Salt-Fog and UV exposure. They are exposed to ultraviolet testing chambers to simulate years of sun exposure, and salt fog chambers to simulate years of exposure to salt-water environments. Corrosion and UV-resistant materials are used throughout.

Woofers: The MX770-CCX-CG-WH speakers feature injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone woofers with UV inhibitors, synthetic rubber surrounds, and precisely engineered dust cap profiles for smooth upper-end response. The woofers also use marine-grade synthetic fiber spiders with a progressive roll design to withstand high humidity.

DMA (Dynamic Motor Analysis): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method of improving dynamic motor behavior. The DMA optimized, long-excursion design enhances output, bass extension, and power handling of the speaker.

Tweeters: The speakers feature 3/4" silk dome tweeters with a specially formulated treatment to withstand UV and salt-spray exposure. The dome tweeter uses a neodymium magnet for higher efficiency levels and is Ferrofluid-cooled and damped for improved response and power handling capabilities.

Crossover: The tweeters use 2nd order (12 dB/oct) crossovers with solid-state tweeter protection to prevent tweeter failure.

Polymer Basket And Grille: The specifically engineered polymer baskets are corrosion and UV-resistant and encapsulate the woofer's motor system to prevent corrosion.

Infinite-Baffle Operation: The speakers are designed for infinite-baffle operation and can be installed in a variety of locations, without the need for a dedicated enclosure. The woofer is optimized to operate with a large volume of air behind it (at least 2 cubic feet); operating in less space will compromise low frequency performance.
