JL Audio's PowerWedge MAX powered subwoofers give you almost everything you need for impactful bass thump in your ride. Engineers at JL Audio expertly match this sub, box, and amp for top-notch sound quality, then craftsmen at their Florida plant assemble them by hand to exacting standards.

A steadfast 10" sub
The PowerWedge MAX PWM110-WJX features a hard-hitting 10" WX subwoofer with a rigid polypropylene cone that can push plenty of air for prolific bass output. Dependable foam surrounds hold the woofer in place and resist cracking or separating. Extensive venting helps prevent thermal breakdown in the voice coil, so you'll get lasting, consistent performance.

175 watts RMS and an expertly crafted enclosure
Built from industrial-grade 5/8" medium density fiberboard and covered by thick gray carpeting, this sealed enclosure promotes punchy, tight sounding bass. Mounted on the back of the enclosure, the JX 250/1 mono amplifier features an advanced heat sink to keep the amp cool for strong, stable output. This amp sends 175 watts RMS to the sub for optimal bass power. An optional wired remote lets you control the bass levels from the comfort of your front seat.

Who needs a powered subwoofer?

To produce bass, you need a sub, an enclosure, and an amplifier, and it can be little tricky to match them all up. A powered sub eliminates all the hassle, as the manufacturer designs the enclosure to house the sub and amp together. This all-in-one solution is especially useful in smaller vehicles, where there's no room to mount a separate amp, or in any vehicle where you need every bit of cargo space. Powered subs range from small, flat boxes that fit under your seat to larger boxes that go in your trunk.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

not so good.... nothing i expected from jl.... the wire connections on the sub were broke off in the box and not wired to the amp like a preloaded powered sub should be VERY VERY UNSATISFIED

Sounds good but the plastic cover could be better!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The unit is Ok. A bit under powered but matches the cost. Its not like the old style JL slash series amps but is good balance for a factory add in. Its installed in a Honda CR V and blends well with the factory stereo.

Pros: Sounds good, Budget friendly and nice carpet that matches my car.

Cons: Plastic rear cover has bubbles. When they break you see the cheap yellow foam inside. Mine has 3 bubbles that broke and it looks bad.

Great for rounding out

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

F250 Extended Cab, Sony deck, Pioneer 6x8s in all 4 doors. No amp on the speakers, just running off the deck and needed some thump to round out the system.

At first, I was disappointed. Nearly full gain and not much bass, but after talking to the third Tech (who was awesome and knew this unit inside and out), he figured out that my sub preamp voltage on the Sony was less than it could be (higher voltage=less amp gain level). He got me dialed in on the settings I had to work with and this thing came to life. I could run hi level for greater input voltage or get a different deck, but as good as it sounds, probably won't.

I listen to Rock, Pop, House, Trance, Hip Hop, Country. I wish it pounded a little harder on Rock, but it's still good. It pounds on all the other genres no problem. Amp is at 80Hz.

From previous reviews that I fully agree with: 1) This isn't for being heard a half mile away, but it does thump and drops nice and low. 2) Get the RBC-1 remote unless you only listen to one band or genre. If you listen to a mix of stuff, get it. I went the first week w/out it and would have to constantly fiddle with bass gain and sub level and it was a pain so I ordered it, now all is good. 3) The woofer cover is exactly right. You can also just type SGRU10 in the Crutchfield search bar and it'll come up. It doesn't say it fits this sub on the Crutchfield ad, but it does on the packaging. Fits and looks perfect. Enjoy and thank you again, Crutchfield!

Perfect Boost

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just got a new 2012 Accord and the stock system sounds really mushy on the low end. I contacted Crutchfield and asked them their recommendations and after looking through what they sent back, decided on this unit.

This unit is perfect for what I was looking for. I tapped the rear speakers in the trunk and ran a remote dial to the front.

After dropping the bass on the head unit to -1 and setting the gain using a multimeter on the amp, the system sounds amazing. It provides the perfect little boost and with the remote allows a full range depending on what I'm listening to and how I feel.

This won't blow anyone socks off but it's a perfect boost at a good price.

Installed an Alpine CDA-105, Alpine KPT-445, and Kicker KS components in a 1998 Jeep XJ Cherokee and was really happy with the system but certainly needed more low end. I debated between an 8" powered setup and this 10" JL setup and am very happy to have spent the extra money on a high quality JL product. The wedge packages nicely in the rear cargo area surrounded by a dog gate divider. The JL Audio SGR-10W3v3/W1v2 speaker grill fits as well, even though the sub is a 10WX-4.

The package is versatile since the amp and sub priced separately are the same cost as the PWM110-WJX. So the amp can be relocated under the rear seat and the sub put in a custom integrated enclosure at a later date. Essentially the box is free.

The sub gets quite a bit louder and lower than I had expected at only 175W RMS. The subwoofer itself is one of JL's lower end units, but it delivers amazing sound matched with the JX 250/1 amplifier! Puts a smile on my wife's face every time she gets in the car!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just finished up installing this 10-inch subwoofer/amp setup from JL in my girlfriend's 2010 Cobalt. I'll have to admit I was a bit concerned about how it would sound off the factory radio (speaker level input-no preamp converter) and being installed in the trunk. All i can say is it's unbelievable. It makes the even the factory speakers sound better! I also purchased the optional JL remote control setup to allow amp volume adjustment from the driver's seat (a must in my mind!).

I have a 2002 ford explorer and i must admit i wasn't expecting much out of this i was just looking to add a little bass and round my system out. I was wrong though this thing pounds for what it is I can feel the bass all the way in the driver seat when it hits this will not outdo any big system but if you are looking to add bass and not to wake up the neighborhood you will be very happy with this if you are wanting to wake up everyone around you and for the whole neighborhood to here you get something else otherwise get this it will suprise you

Great package for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After installing a Sony X-plod head & 4 speakers in my Dakota Quad Cab, I knew I needed to add a sub to round out my system. I researched subs for months, & the JL Audio powered sub seemed to have the best specs for the price. Once I installed it, with surprising ease, all I can say is WOW !!!! This sub ROCKS !!!! Easy to set up & control. plenty of power with built in amp, and I haven't even cranked it up yet, due to recommended "break-in" period. Deep, low, rich bass, in a compact unit. Kudos to JL AUDIO & as always, excellent sales & tech support from Crutchfield.

JL Audio PowerWedge MAX 10" powered subwoofer

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Delivers crisp, clean and precise bass. Extremely satisfied with performance of this powered subwoofer. JL Audio PowerWedge replaced an Infintiy BassLink powered sub. Infinity sounds good, but JL Audio sounds fantastic. Much cleaner and far more precise bass. Crutchfield was accurate with their information. Highly recommend this sub for clean and powerful bass.

Worked Out GREAT!

Added this to my 2011 Camaro (Boston Acoustics Factory Sound System). Installed
it in the trunk off the hi side of the amp. Having the battery and the factory
amp in the trunk made installation a breeze! For minimal expense it added
maximum depth and a ton of bass punch to a pretty good factory system! I highly
recommend. Got lots of help from Crutchfield techs on the location and color
coding of the factory amp,... HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I went back and forth for awhile on what to get. Man was i happy i decided to
buy this. I gave it a good amount of time to break in and this thing pumps out
some bass.. I have it hooked up to a factory stereo through the hi input...ALL
DAY BASS!!!! JL knows how to produce a great product....If you want to save on
space and get alot of bass this is what to get...I know when you look at the
specs you see 175watts i know buut when you hook it up you will see that JL
subs dont need alot of power to put out some serious bass...

I've had this in my single cab f-150 for about 6 months. To start off, I was looking for something small enough to fit behind my seat, but also something that had really nice sound quality to it. A lot of the stuff I was looking at looked like it was made out of plastic and was terrible quality. When I saw this it looked to be exactly what I was looking for. Its small enough to fit behind my passenger seat without loosing much leg room at all, the build quality is superior to most, and it looks amazing. The bass that comes from it is crisp and clean, and when turned up it has some decent power. As long as your not expecting to be heard a mile away, shaking cars next to you, or scaring small children, I recommend it.

I have an 2005 A4 Avant and this is more then enough bass for my trunk.I am
running a Kenwood DNX6960 and controlling the sub from this is a breeze. I give it
4 stars because I wish the controls on the unit was better accessible then having
to remove the rear cover on the enclosure. Deep smooth bass for my enjoyment
inside my ride is what I have.

Best Powered Subwoofer

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this model one week ago, so based on the last model (with J2 250.1 amplifier) reviews I can tell this NEW model still have the same sound quality, power and accuracy than the previous one. I have it installed in my 2005 KIA Sedona and sounds great. It fill the entire space (huge Van) with good bass.

Do not forget to buy the wired remote (JL Audio RBC-1) and the woofer grill (SRGU-10).

I bought too from Crutchfield the Alpine CDA-117 head unit, the Alpine KTP-445 power pack, a pair of Alpine SPR-17C speakers (front doors) and a pair of Alpine SPR-69C speakers (rear).

I feel really happy with my new system :)

Thanks Chad at Crutchfield for all the recommendations.

Product Research

Overview: JL Audio PowerWedge Max subwoofer system combines JL Audio's rugged, great-sounding JL Audio WX subwoofer with a precisely engineered, USA-built enclosure/amp-rack, and a perfectly matched JL Audio JX series amplifier.

Sealed Enclosure
WX Series Woofer
JX Series Amplifier

Sealed Enclosure

Acoustic Suspension Enclosure: The JL Audio PowerWedge Max subwoofer system utilizes a sealed enclosure for tight, accurate, deep bass.

Quality Construction: The subwoofer enclosure features durable, American-made automotive-grade carpeting and premium JL Audio speaker wiring.

Amp Rack: The JX series amplifier is mounted to the rear of the PowerWedge Max enclosure behind a great-looking, CNC-machined amplifier shroud with a durable black textured finish.

Note: The amplifier shroud must be removed to access the amplifier's connections and controls.

Enclosure Application: This compact enclosure is ideal for a variety of vehicle sizes and feature an angled back panel to allow the subwoofer to fire toward the back of the vehicle with minimal loss of trunk or hatch space.

WX Series Woofer

WX Series: The JL Audio WX woofer is designed with a long excursion, DMA-optimized motor system, supported by JL Audio's patented Elevated Frame Cooling and a highly linear suspension. This means it delivers lots of low-distortion, high-quality bass with all types of music.

Dynamic Motor Analysis (DMA): DMA is JL Audio's proprietary method aimed at improving dynamic motor behavior. As a result of DMA optimization, the WX series woofer's motor remains linear in motor force over a very long range of excursion, and also maintains a highly stable fixed magnetic field in the gap over a wide power range. The result is vastly reduced distortion, faithfully reproduced transients, and tight, clean, articulate bass.

Elevated Frame Cooling: The elevated frame design of the WX series subwoofer delivers cool air through slots directly above the top-plate to the voice coil of the speaker. This not only enhances power handling, but also sound quality by minimizing dynamic parameter shifts and power compression.

Rear Gasket: The woofer has an integrated foam rear gasket which provides an optimal seal when installing into the enclosure.

Long Excursion: The 10WX-4 subwoofer has 9.5mm of linear excursion, giving you louder bass with less distortion.

Pre-Mounted: The JL Audio 10WX-4 subwoofer comes already mounted in the JL Audio PowerWedge Max enclosure.

JX Series Amplifier

Monoblock Class A/B Amplifier: The JL Audio JX250/1 is a class A/B monoblock subwoofer amplifier that has been optimized for low-frequency (10-200 Hz) amplification of connected subwoofer.

Note: The JX250/1 is not designed for driving full-range speakers, midrange drivers, or tweeters.

MOSFET Switching Power Supply: The JL Audio JX series monoblock amplifier employs a rugged MOSFET power supply for outstanding reliability and operational stability.

Amplifier Ratings:

JX250/1 Amplifier Specifications Ohms Watts Channels Frequency Response Signal-to-Noise THD
Rated Continuous (RMS) Power @ 14.4V 4 175 1 20-200 Hz 87 dB 1%
Rated Continuous (RMS) Power @ 12.5V 4 130 1 20-200 Hz 87 dB 1%

High-Mass Heat Sink: A heavy extruded aluminum heat sink is designed to keep the JL Audio JX series amplifier in a comfortable thermal range during demanding operation. This high-mass, extruded heat sink removes heat from the amplifier circuitry, extending high-power operation. This improves reliability and reduces the frequency of thermally related shut-down event.

Protection Circuitry: The JX250/1's protection circuitry automatically shuts the amplifier down if thermal limits are exceeded, a short-circuit is detected in the speaker wiring, or if low supply voltage limits are reached.

Status Indicator Lights: There are two status indicator lights on the right side of the amplifier:

  • Power (Green): This LED lights green to indicate that the amplifier is turned on and operating normally.
  • Protect (Red): The Protection LED lights Red to indicate the amplifier's protection circuitry has been activated to prevent product failure due to thermal overload, a short-circuit, or a dangerously low impedance connected to the amplifier's outputs.

Controls: The JL Audio JX250/1 amplifier provides the following audio controls:

  • Input Sensitivity: The Input Sensitivity Control is used to match your source unit's output voltage to the input stage of the amplifier for maximum clean output.
    • Low-Level Input Range: 200mV-4V (RMS)
    • High-Level Input Range: 2V-10V (RMS)
  • Low Pass Crossover: The JL Audio JX250/1 monoblock amplifier is equipped with a 12dB/octave Butterworth low-pass filter with variable frequency selection from 50 to 200Hz.
  • Bass Boost: The amplifier is equipped with a variable 0 to +12dB, 45Hz Bass Boost.
  • Remote Level Control: The JX250/1 is equipped with a RJ-11 connection for an optional wired Remote Level Control (136RBC1, sold separately) that allows volume level adjustment of the amplifier from the front of your vehicle.

Connections: The JL Audio JX250/1 amplifier provides the following connections:

  • Power/Ground/Turn-On Terminals: The monoblock amplifier features set-screw terminals for the power, ground, and remote turn-on connections.
    • Power and Ground: The JL Audio amplifier's set-screw Power and Ground connections are designed to accept 8 to 4 AWG power wire. A 2.5mm hex-wrench is supplied for making connections.
    • Remote Turn-On: The JL Audio JX series amplifier's set-screw turn-on lead will accept 18 to 8 AWG wire. The same 2.5mm hex-wrench is supplied for making connection.
  • Speaker Output Terminals: The JL Audio JX250/1 features four set-screw speaker terminals for an easy parallel subwoofer connection. The monoblock amplifier's four set-screw speaker terminals will accept 16 to 8 AWG speaker wire. A 2.5mm hex-wrench is supplied for making connections. The amplifier's speaker terminals are wired to the loaded woofer from the factory.
  • Preamp Inputs: The monoblock amplifier features one set of stereo RCA input jacks. The amplifier features a dedicated Input Sensitivity gain control for these inputs. These controls are designed to match the input sensitivity of the JX250/1 to the specific signal source that is feeding it. The amplifier's low-level input can be set between 200mV-4V RMS.
  • Speaker Level Inputs: The JL Audio JX250/1 also accepts speaker level signals, including those from factory systems (without the need for a line-output converter), via the supplied 10" speaker-level harness. The amplifier's high-level input can be set between 2V-10V RMS.
  • Preamp Outputs: The JX250/1 incorporates a pass-through preamp output section, so that additional amplifiers can easily be connected to the same signal(s) feeding the monoblock amplifier. These preamp output signals are buffered to prevent noise and are always preamp level, regardless of the level of signals feeding the amplifier's inputs.

Note: The amplifier shroud must be removed to access the amplifier's connections and controls.

Fuse: The Amplifier is not equipped with a fuse. An external 30-amp AFS, AGU, or MAXI fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 30-amps, the original should be replaced with a 30-amp fuse.

Pre-Mounted: The JL Audio JX250/1 amplifier comes already mounted to the back-panel of the enclosure and wired to the pre-loaded subwoofer.
