Yes | No 2 out of 5 Disapointing Results Written By Toolman421, Ft. Lauderdale, FL on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 I've been listening to my '99 F150 factory CD/Radio since I bought the truck new and now is the time for an upgrade. I've installed and listened to JL Audio speakers in the past and felt it was a brand that you couldn't go wrong with. That's not the case with the TR570-CXi speakers. I installed a Pioneer AVH- P4300 DVD player and hooked up the JL's in each of the front and rear door panels. The speakers are powered directly from the head unit without an amplifier. The Pioneer puts out 22 watts of continuous power per speaker which is well within the TR570-CXi limit of 50 watts. I realize that a 5x7 speaker is not going to produce a large bass response and these speakers are a disappointment even with a low expectation. The disappointment continues into the midrange as there seems to be a black hole that sucks up all the notes. Adjusting the 8-band equalizer in the Pioneer doesn't help. The old Ford stock speakers sounded better. I installed a self- powered subwoofer that filled out the bass but the lack of low and midrange musicality in these speakers is just underwhelming. The speakers beam the music at you rather than surround you with it. I give them two stars only because they are a well made speaker by JL, the only problem is that they sound terrible. 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Written By sampsell, Canton, GA on Wednesday, April 07, 2010 Since quality is subjective, the only way to really review something is to start by letting the reader know where you were before the use of the reviewed product so that the reader can understand what is being compared. So, here's a little background before I get to the review. I have a 2007 Ford Five Hundred Limited that had the "premium" Audiophile sound system from the factory. I was actually quite impressed at the sound quality of the factory setup. It wasn't great but it was definitely good. I found a deal I couldn't pass up so I installed a Pioneer AVHP4200DVD head unit using a PAC factory wiring harness convertor. That by itself was a drastic improvement. I played with all the settings until I found something that sounded good to me but it still wasn't quite right. So I did some research and bought a set of these speakers for the front and rear doors. I installed them last night in about 20-30 minutes. I was nicely surprised. I have to re- tweak my settings since these are much better speakers but I'm not complaining. The clarity of the highs and mids is great. Adding that to the stock sub/amp setup greatly improves the sound quality over the stock door speakers (even the "premium" ones). So, these JL-Audio TR570-CXi speakers may or may not be the best speakers in the world but when you replace stock speakers, they are definitely a huge improvement. 5 out of 5 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 1 out of 5 Very disappointing Written By Chad, Geneseo, Il on Friday, December 25, 2009 I just installed 1 of the 4 speakers I purchased. I got an 02' Ford Ranger extended cab in the summer and thought the sound was really good in it with the factory head unit and factory speakers. I thought I could get even better sound by installing th JL Audio speakers, since the reviews for the most part were good. I was wanting to get a little more tight punchy bass that I could feel the punch. I installed one of theses speakers in the rear door and isolated it with the fader and balance comparing it to the other 3 , each one at a time. The Jl Audio 570-CXi had no where near the bass as the factory speakers. I had to turn the volume up to 3 times that of the factory speakers to get just as much bass from that JL Audio speaker and at that point the speaker had a lot of distortion and just sounded terrible. At low volume it sounds fine but absolutely no punch. Maybe it requires an amp for more power but then ..new head unit and new amp... which is not what I bargained for since I already had pretty good punch with the factory set up. I had high hopes for theses speakers but they fell well short I wont install the other 3 in fact the one is coming back out and they will be sold on ebay, since other people seemed to for some reason like these speakers. 3 out of 38 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Exceptional Written By lepleym, Harrisburg, PA on Monday, August 31, 2009 After extensive time spent researching speakers for my 2006 Ford Five Hundred(base model), I decided to purchase these JL Audio speakers. I have owned Boston Acoustic components(which I loved), and more recently, Alpine Type S 6.5s. I also spent time comparing these specific speakers with Kicker KS, Pioneer, Kenwood, Infinity, polk, and Alpine type R and S. Upon getting two installed in the front(only got one set, because I still was not sure), I turned the rear speakers off, placed all of my factory head unit settings flat, and started listening to music(rap, rock, classic, country, etc). The JL Audio speakers are above and beyond them all, hands down. The realism and accurate reproduction of the music is absolutely jaw dropping. The highs are accurate, yet not harsh in the least and the mids and lows are nice and tight(couldn't comprehend what that really meant until now), and they ACCURATELY reproduce the lows. Not boomy, distorted bass sounds, but accurate reproduction of the bass insturments and frequencies of the music. I have heard the reed of a woodwind vibrate, and depth in certain songs that I have never heard before, and I have been stunned by bass given off by modern rap. I haven't even thought of adjusting treble/bass settings at this time, its not needed. I also do not need a sub, or a radio upgrade, not needed either. I am picky and I advise that you stop looking, and order without a doubt. I just got my second set! 15 out of 15 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? They really brightened up the sound in the truck. Overall a good speaker, But I was expecting more depth mids/bass wise. Using the oem radio, so maybe if you put an amp on them they would do more, but seem to have plenty of power regardless. 8 out of 8 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 3 out of 5 No what I expected Written By Mike, Toano, VA on Saturday, July 18, 2009 I have to admit that I expected more from a product with the JL name on it. I installed four of these speakers in my single cab Ford Ranger with a Kenwood KDC-X693 deck and an Alpine MRP-F300 amp (50 watts x 4) powering these speakers. These speakers don't sound very good at high volumes at all. I wish I had bought the Infinity's instead. 3 out of 5 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Lightweight enough to not increase the inertia of your door swinging. Slightly expensive but all around a good compromise. I recommend. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? The worked well in the door with the bass blockers, but the rear deck they did not work so, well had to call tech support to figure out why they kept turning off. We figured out that the factory speaker was a 7ohm speaker and the JL Audio was just a 4ohm speaker, so just returned the one set and re-installed the rear factory speakers. If I ever want to upgrade my rear speakers the whole factory system will have to be re-worked and new system installed with amps. 7 out of 25 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? They really opened up after I put in my Alpine CDA-9884 HU. Enough bass to almost not use my MTX sub, but I like to really feel the bass of techno and rap. My g/f listens to 80's in my car on sirus and she really likes the way these JL's sound. I have very little distortion at high volume, and especially when I leave the bass low on these and turn it all to my sub. I bought these from crutchfield outlet to save a few bucks and would definitely do it again. Scratch and dent would be a great deal too. 11 out of 11 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? At low volume it sounds fine but absolutely no punch. Maybe it requires an amp for more power but then ..new head unit and new amp... which is not what I bargained for since I already had pretty good punch with the factory set up. I had high hopes for theses speakers but they fell well short I wont install the other 3 in fact the one is coming back out and they will be sold on ebay, since other people seemed to for some reason like these speakers. 3 out of 38 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? 5 out of 5 Exceptional Written By lepleym, Harrisburg, PA on Monday, August 31, 2009 After extensive time spent researching speakers for my 2006 Ford Five Hundred(base model), I decided to purchase these JL Audio speakers. Yes | No
4 out of 5 Just Installed Written By , Corinth, MS on Friday, August 14, 2009 Put these in a 2009 Ford Escape, Perfect fit, but not near the bass from the other reviews I have read, The highs are brilliant. Yes | No
3 out of 5 No what I expected Written By Mike, Toano, VA on Saturday, July 18, 2009 I have to admit that I expected more from a product with the JL name on it. Yes | No
5 out of 5 Real good speakers Written By Gnarlodious, Santa Fe on Sunday, June 21, 2009 These are real good speakers for the front doors. They give a nice bass sound with highranges too. Lightweight enough to not increase the inertia of your door swinging. Slightly expensive but all around a good compromise. I recommend. 2 out of 2 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? 3 out of 5 03 Mustang/Mach 460 system Written By Ang0676, Smyrna, TN on Sunday, August 03, 2008 Purchased these speakers for the front door and rear deck of an 2003 Ford Mustang with the Mach 460 system. 5 out of 5 Very clear, almost don't need a sub Written By Mark, Fowlerville, MI on Monday, May 19, 2008 Put these in first when doing my audio upgrade in my 2004 Mazda 6 and boy are these clear. Yes | No
