You need great speakers to turn the audio signals from your car stereo into music. The Evolution™ TR series speakers take advantage of JL Audio's extensive research and obsessive testing to deliver excellent performance at prices any audio enthusiast can afford. Evolution™ TR speakers come in a wide range of sizes so you can improve the sound in almost any vehicle.
JL Audio's TR570-CXi 5"x7" speakers use mica-filled long-excursion polypropylene woofers for enhanced low-frequency response that'll really fill out your drums and bass. The 1/2" woven textile dome tweeters broadcast all the little details that bring your music to life. Ferrofluid cooled tweeters and butyl rubber surrounds mean that these speakers will bring you great music for many years to come.
The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.
OK, I have noticed several bad reviews on this, and other 6"x8" speakers... and MOST of them own Ford Rangers.
Everyone ELSE seems to love them!
SO - DON'T put them in a RANGER!!
I installed a pair in the doors of my '02 Ford Mustang without Mach system.
Frankly, I have never heard a non-component, coaxial speaker with such tight mids, solid mid-bass, and crisp highs. They're powered by a PPI 75W RMS per channel amp. They take the power beautifully! I would probably have gotten the next level up JL Audio coaxials, for the extra power handling, but these have served me well, and compliment my JL Audio 10" Sub perfectly!
Like some others, I also installed 150hz bass blockers on the door speakers - 5x7/6x8s were NEVER meant to be subwoofers, don't even try!
If used as designed, these are fantastic speakers, and as a former car stereo installer, I HIGHLY recommend them!
Pros: Clean, crisp sound - in their DESIGNED frequency range. Great, hard hitting high bass.... Even BETTER with a moderate amp.
Cons: NONE, if used as described! ;)
I install these speakers in my 2008 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. When I installed My new Sony MEX-XB100BT Stereo I waited 2 weeks before I installed the JL Audio Speakers. It Sounded great with the Ford factory speakers. When I installed the JL Audio Speakers, WOW What a difference. The sound is accurate. The Bass response is excellent, When I do add a sub woofer it will not need much. They produce a lot of lows very clean. Full and Solid. The Highs are bright and clear. The Mids nice and clean. The nicest speakers I have ever heard in a car that were not Component speakers.
Pros: Great Sound. Reasonable price.
Crisp sound. 1000x better than factory.
I simply LOVE JL Audio. THE SOUND IS SIMPLY AWESOME.
Pros: sOUMD, QUAILTY, & EASE OF INSTALLATION
Cons: NOE YET
for all these people on these reviews for any brand speaker complaining about bass, why don't you do some research and learn that these speakers are not whatsoever responsible for good bass. that is what a subwoofer is used for. These speakers sound great, crisp, and clean.
I had these speakers installed in my Ford Explorer in 2002 and ran them in that until last week (2013) when I moved them to my newly purchased 1997 Crown Vic. They still sound great, and I'm not considering buying anything else.
I don't have a lot of experience with other high quality speakers, but I know what my music is supposed to sound like. I use a pair of high quality in ear headphones (Shure SE215) much of the time, and I have to say that my TR570 speakers do a great job of reproducing the sound.
Pros: Long-lasting, great overall sound even without a sub or amplifier backing them up
Cons: They do seem to get noisy at high volume, but I can't say it's not due to the age of these speakers.
I bought these JL to install in the rear doors of my 07 F150 FX2 Super Cab. It took longer to take the door panel off than it did to replace the actual speakers. The sound output is a major improvement over my old stock speakers. Very crisp highs and decent, clear mid bass. I plan on adding a sub in the future and therefore was not expecting a ton of deep bass, but these really have surprised me.
Pros: Very easy to install, perfect fit for my vehicle. Good, clean sound reproduction.
Wow what a sound difference from stock speakers and easy to install thank you
Pros: Great product
These speakers put out what you put into them. They are clean and clear and lacking in the low-mid mud that plages so many audio speakers. They do not do what a nice sub would do but still provide good bass response.
Pros: Fairly flat and articulate response that is orders of magnitude better than factory original equipment.
I purchased these as an upgrade for my stock speakers in a 2006 Mazda 6. I installed them and ran the factory stereo. Initially I was quite disappointed. They sounded under-powered and the sound quality was overall just poor. No base, mids were crappy, highs so so. This weekend I upgraded from my stock stereo to a Kenwood and now that I have something more powerful for these speakers, the sound is indescribable. These speakers are definitely hitting their potential including highs, mids and lows. I was initially thinking about hooking up an amplifier to these speakers but doubt I will do so now. I am very pleased.
Pros: Sound awesome if you upgrade from stock stereo
Cons: Didn't sound worth a darn from factory stereo
Put them in a 09 f-150 sound way better than factory. I was hoping for a little more punch tho.
Where's the bass at threes a lil and I have it turned up to max there in a 98 ranger I'm going to return these and try some other brand. I thought about hooking an amp to them ,but all that's going to do is make the highs even higher. I need to hear the speakers first before I buy next time..but had great customer service from Eddie and Hunter!!!!
I've been listening to my '99 F150 factory CD/Radio since I bought the truck new and now is the time for an upgrade. I've installed and listened to JL Audio speakers in the past and felt it was a brand that you couldn't go wrong with. That's not the case with the TR570-CXi speakers. I installed a Pioneer AVH- P4300 DVD player and hooked up the JL's in each of the front and rear door panels. The speakers are powered directly from the head unit without an amplifier. The Pioneer puts out 22 watts of continuous power per speaker which is well within the TR570-CXi limit of 50 watts.
I realize that a 5x7 speaker is not going to produce a large bass response and these speakers are a disappointment even with a low expectation. The disappointment continues into the midrange as there seems to be a black hole that sucks up all the notes. Adjusting the 8-band equalizer in the Pioneer doesn't help. The old Ford stock speakers sounded better. I installed a self- powered subwoofer that filled out the bass but the lack of low and midrange musicality in these speakers is just underwhelming. The speakers beam the music at you rather than surround you with it. I give them two stars only because they are a well made speaker by JL, the only problem is that they sound terrible.
Since quality is subjective, the only way to really review something is to start by letting the reader know where you were before the use of the reviewed product so that the reader can understand what is being compared. So, here's a little background before I get to the review.
I have a 2007 Ford Five Hundred Limited that had the "premium" Audiophile sound system from the factory. I was actually quite impressed at the sound quality of the factory setup. It wasn't great but it was definitely good. I found a deal I couldn't pass up so I installed a Pioneer AVHP4200DVD head unit using a PAC factory wiring harness convertor. That by itself was a drastic improvement. I played with all the settings until I found something that sounded good to me but it still wasn't quite right. So I did some research and bought a set of these speakers for the front and rear doors.
I installed them last night in about 20-30 minutes. I was nicely surprised. I have to re- tweak my settings since these are much better speakers but I'm not complaining. The clarity of the highs and mids is great. Adding that to the stock sub/amp setup greatly improves the sound quality over the stock door speakers (even the "premium" ones).
So, these JL-Audio TR570-CXi speakers may or may not be the best speakers in the world but when you replace stock speakers, they are definitely a huge improvement.
I just installed 1 of the 4 speakers I purchased. I got an 02' Ford Ranger extended cab in the summer and thought the sound was really good in it with the factory head unit and factory speakers. I thought I could get even better sound by installing th JL Audio speakers, since the reviews for the most part were good. I was wanting to get a little more tight punchy bass that I could feel the punch. I installed one of theses speakers in the rear door and isolated it with the fader and balance comparing it to the other 3 , each one at a time. The Jl Audio 570-CXi had no where near the bass as the factory speakers. I had to turn the volume up to 3 times that of the factory speakers to get just as much bass from that JL Audio speaker and at that point the speaker had a lot of distortion and just sounded terrible. At low volume it sounds fine but absolutely no punch. Maybe it requires an amp for more power but then ..new head unit and new amp... which is not what I bargained for since I already had pretty good punch with the factory set up. I had high hopes for theses speakers but they fell well short I wont install the other 3 in fact the one is coming back out and they will be sold on ebay, since other people seemed to for some reason like these speakers.
After extensive time spent researching speakers for my 2006 Ford Five Hundred(base model), I decided to purchase these JL Audio speakers. I have owned Boston Acoustic components(which I loved), and more recently, Alpine Type S 6.5s. I also spent time comparing these specific speakers with Kicker KS, Pioneer, Kenwood, Infinity, polk, and Alpine type R and S.
Upon getting two installed in the front(only got one set, because I still was not sure), I turned the rear speakers off, placed all of my factory head unit settings flat, and started listening to music(rap, rock, classic, country, etc).
The JL Audio speakers are above and beyond them all, hands down. The realism and accurate reproduction of the music is absolutely jaw dropping. The highs are accurate, yet not harsh in the least and the mids and lows are nice and tight(couldn't comprehend what that really meant until now), and they ACCURATELY reproduce the lows. Not boomy, distorted bass sounds, but accurate reproduction of the bass insturments and frequencies of the music.
I have heard the reed of a woodwind vibrate, and depth in certain songs that I have never heard before, and I have been stunned by bass given off by modern rap. I haven't even thought of adjusting treble/bass settings at this time, its not needed. I also do not need a sub, or a radio upgrade, not needed either.
I am picky and I advise that you stop looking, and order without a doubt. I just got my second set!
Put these in a 2009 Ford Escape, Perfect fit, but not near the bass from the other reviews I have read, The highs are brilliant.
They really brightened up the sound in the truck.
Overall a good speaker, But I was expecting more depth mids/bass wise.
Using the oem radio, so maybe if you put an amp on them they would do more, but seem to have plenty of power regardless.
I have to admit that I expected more from a product with the JL name on it. I installed four of these speakers in my single cab Ford Ranger with a Kenwood KDC-X693 deck and an Alpine MRP-F300 amp (50 watts x 4) powering these speakers. These speakers don't sound very good at high volumes at all. I wish I had bought the Infinity's instead.
These are real good speakers for the front doors. They give a nice bass sound with highranges too. Lightweight enough to not increase the inertia of your door swinging. Slightly expensive but all around a good compromise. I recommend.
Purchased these speakers for the front door and rear deck of an 2003 Ford Mustang with the Mach 460 system. The worked well in the door with the bass blockers, but the rear deck they did not work so, well had to call tech support to figure out why they kept turning off. We figured out that the factory speaker was a 7ohm speaker and the JL Audio was just a 4ohm speaker, so just returned the one set and re-installed the rear factory speakers. If I ever want to upgrade my rear speakers the whole factory system will have to be re-worked and new system installed with amps.
Put these in first when doing my audio upgrade in my 2004 Mazda 6 and boy are these clear. They really opened up after I put in my Alpine CDA-9884 HU. Enough bass to almost not use my MTX sub, but I like to really feel the bass of techno and rap. My g/f listens to 80's in my car on sirus and she really likes the way these JL's sound. I have very little distortion at high volume, and especially when I leave the bass low on these and turn it all to my sub. I bought these from crutchfield outlet to save a few bucks and would definitely do it again. Scratch and dent would be a great deal too.
Perfect fit for Newer Ford's. I put them in my 07 Ranger. Very simple to install with the wiring harness. The speakers sound great. I would recommend these to anyone.
Hi,These are the best speakers I have had in my 2008 Ford Explorer to date.I have tried the Kenwood KFC-6880ie's and Pioneer's TS-A6872r's but the JL Audio's TR570CXi's top them easily.Even though the JL's are listed with less bottom end frequency response then the Pioneers or the Kenwoods the JL's clearly produce more bass along with clear mids and highs.Consider that a bass drum is in the 100-300Hz range anyway.

Woofers: The JL Audio Evolution TR-series coaxial speakers feature injection-molded, mica-filled polypropylene cone woofers with 1" voice coils and flat-profile, symmetrical-roll spiders. The woofers use butyl rubber surrounds for reliability and strength.
Tweeters: The speakers have 1/2" treated textile dome tweeters with an integral phase plug and powerful, ferro-fluid cooled and damped neodymium magnets.
Crossovers: The TR-series coaxials use electrolytic capacitors on the 1st order high-pass filters. The woofer is unfiltered, using its engineered smooth roll-off characteristics to blend with its tweeter.
ABS Spacer Rings: The speakers include ABS spacer rings that can be used between the speaker and mounting surface if rear clearance is an issue. If the spacer ring is used, the mounting depth is reduced to 1.96", and the mounting height is increased to 0.9".
