Revitalize your music

You need great speakers to turn the audio signals from your car stereo into music. The Evolution™ TR series speakers take advantage of JL Audio's extensive research and obsessive testing to deliver excellent performance at prices any audio enthusiast can afford. Evolution™ TR speakers come in a wide range of sizes so you can improve the sound in almost any vehicle.

JL Audio's TR600-CXi 6-1/2" speakers use mica-filled long-excursion polypropylene woofers for enhanced low-frequency response that'll really fill out your drums and bass. The 1/2" woven textile dome tweeters broadcast all the little details that bring your music to life. Ferrofluid cooled tweeters and butyl rubber surrounds mean that these speakers will bring you great music for many years to come.

Note: JL Audio describes this model as a 6" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-1/2" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-1/2" speaker.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I haven't been this excited about car audio in years! These replaced factory speakers which although they didn't sound awful were lacking definition and clarity. I expected the JL speakers to be clearer but what I didn't expect was the overall range and low end these speakers reproduce. No, they don't shake the car like subs would, but you can clearly hear and to some extent feel the low notes. I am Loving driving my car now! Although this was only the first step in upgrading the stereo in this car, it was by far a very clear example of the difference a Good pair of speakers can make. The rear speakers are name-brand mid-grade units (on par with these JL's in price) that were in the car when I bought it a year ago (I won't name them but let's just say they are usually well regarded) and I must say the JL Audio ones blow them away! I will be replacing them with JL Audio models in the near future. For now, I am very happy with the sound even with the factory head unit and can't wait to upgrade that as well! If you savor clear, true sound reproduction, you will not be disappointed with these!

Pros: Clear, wide-range sound, no mounting issues. Work well with factory radio.

Cons: NONE!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these JL Audio speakers to replace my factory ones for a 2009 Nissan Cube with a Alpine stereo. The factories were ok for factory but I wanted to upgrade so I bought the JL Audio's because they make the best sub's ever. But the 6 1/2 are not good, they're just decent. I'm a bit disappointed with them. I thought they would've been great but I'd rather have Alpines instead. I'll stick with JL Audio subwoofers.

Pros: Name They fit

Cons: Not what was expected Disappointed

jl audio replacement for accord speakers

2011 Honda Accord
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm giving this 5 stars for what I was wanting to achieve with these speakers. I drive a 2011 accord (8th generation) with the 6 speaker set up (no sub) and I drive on the interstate a lot. This cars level of road noise coupled with its meager quality of audio makes listening to music or even talk radio less than pleasant. Unless you turn it up loud all you can hear is the tsh tsh sound from the tweeters. I used JL Audio Tr-600 CXi's as drop in speakers with no additional amplification and the sound has drastically improved. I unhooked the tweeter in the sail panel, too, because they sound terrible. You can't tell there is no sound coming from that area.

These speakers fit perfectly and the sound seems much more balanced now. I can enjoy all the words and fuller sound without having to crank the volume. I have also added a kicker 8" powered sub and am very happy with my sound now.

Pros: Full sound Balanced great Improved sounds over factory speakers

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Let me start off by saying these speakers are amazing! I installed these in the front doors of my 2004 Pontiac Grand Am and wow what at difference over those little 4x6 speakers. These speakers have really clear and crisp sound, great bass. And I highly recommend getting these speakers along with the JL Audio TR690-TXi 6x9's, these speakers go absolutely great together.

Pros: Clear and crisp sound, great bass, hard to distort.

Cons: Non so far.

Written by: My from Gillette, WY on February 21, 2014

Will not need adapters for challenger. Took factory speaker and took out the cone, then cut the basket off so I could slide, (more like force it into) the new speaker into the ring that is left and screwed back into rear deck. Sound great.

Pros: Good sound

I love them. They replaced my "premium" factory speakers in my PT Cruiser. I'm hearing things I never heard before. It's crystal clear. Crutchfield supplied the adapter and it fit easily enough. I did have to drill one hole but it was simple. I find myself getting in the car just to drive and listen.

This product did not fit in my 07 ex civic front or back. I know the crutchfield team says they fit but I did the work and it didn't work. I had to go with a smaller 5 1/4 for the back. On the front I just cut the steal door down. I don't recommend doing this just do 5 1/4 front and back. One great thing when I had them plugged in they have great highs and mid range sound.

Great upgrade for a 2011-current Jetta

Written by: Rich from Columbus Ohio on June 28, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wasn't pleased with lack of Bass in my stock Jetta, even managed to damage one of the drivers in the first year. My Jetta is the Convenience package model with tweeters in the pillars. Adding these JL TR600s added high end but surprisingly much needed bass too. I was initially in disbelief that replacing small door speakers would make this much of a difference.

Pros: Great quality build materials, included wiring adapters (from Crutchfield) fit flawlessly, better high end, much better low end, really compliments the existing door tweeters (if your Jetta is equipped.)

Cons: Detailed instructions weren't included at time of order. There is a great take apart guide on YouTube which I recommend watching, it helped me a great deal (Search for Jetta door speakers.) Rivets have to be drilled out of stock speakers for removal (so once you drill out the factory speakers there is no going back.) You will need multiple sizes of Torx drivers, T15, T20.

Good overall, nice to have the tweeters with the woofer blends well and easier to install than separates.

Pros: Good sound and build quality

Cons: May be a little under powered, at 50 watts RMS they seemed a little stretched. Currently I'm powering them at around 30 RMS and they sound great.

Great Speaker

Written by: Anonymous from Killen, AL on January 5, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Love these speakers, however I have always been a JL fan. Crutchfield has stated that they would not fit the back door, but with a little work these babies fit like a glove. I purchased them to complement a JL component set I installed in the front doors, and they did just that, cleaned up the overall sound. I am currently running these off a Pioneer HU and am pleased, I may consider a 4-channel amp for the entire set-up one day. As for now they sound great!

Pros: Simple install, quick and easy fit. Sound good pushed by the Pioneer HU.

Pros: No modification needed in installation. Better sound than the factory speakers.

Cons: None. Am happy with them.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great set of speakers to top off your system, i have a JVC KD-s100 deck, two JL10w1's, and a rockford fosgate T-400 amp, my pickup had the stock infinity system from dodge with a factory amp and those speakers were good, i blew a door speaker and was looking to replace without breaking the bank. i was a little leery at first just because they werent top of the line speakers, as well as replacing a 6X9 with a 6 round but after installation i was extremely suprised, i wasnt looking for bass in my door speakers because the subs over power any mid anyways, but the clarity of the speaker is outstanding. even with the volume really high and all the mirrors shaking from the bass, these speakers kept up and were crystal clear. once again, Crutchfield did a great job with shipping and their technical support was really helpful. i would highly recommend these speakers to anyone who is trying to add a little more clarity to top off their system, without paying a ton of money.

2000 Honda Civic
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are simply outstanding. I installed a set of these in the front doors of
my 6th gen Honda Civic, powered by a Crunch P1 amplifier. All around they're a perfect
speaker, and certainly worth the price. I've owned these for over a month and I don't have
a single complaint regarding them. They really are profound speakers. They're crisp,
clean and certainly worth every penny; perfect for the enthusiast. Don't allow the other
reviews fool you. No 6 1/2'' speaker, no matter how amazing they're acclaimed to be, are
going to put out an impressive amount of bass. In fact, most speakers have built-in high
pass filters (HPF), which filter out a lot of the bass, giving you crisp highs and clean
mids. This makes it so that the lows accompany the highs and mids, and don't
overpower them, especially in songs that have a lot of bass. If you are looking for a lot of
bass, invest in a subwoofer.

Disappointment

Written by: Dave from North Dakota on October 19, 2010

I bought these speakers to replace the factory units. The factory speakers had nice bass and highs but never real crisp. The JLs have very little bass. I have a Sony Xplod stereo that replaced the factory stereo. I expected these speakers to be the whole package and make the already great sounding Sony better. They do not. The mids and highs are great however.
The truck came with the RBN stereo and a search of the 2003 Dodge Ram Factory Service Manual did not reveal an amplifier associated with the RBN.

Bought these speakers on a Friday afternoon, they arrived Monday while I was at work(FREE SHIPPING FTW). I got to my house at 10:40pm that night, at 11:40pm I had installed the speakers completely. This was the first time I had ever upgraded my speakers or anyone else's (for that matter). Crutchfield made it abundantly easy to install my speakers. The package contained all the mounting brackets and cables with step by step instructions making it incredibly easy to install. I was going to have a "professional" business do it and it was going to cost and extra $70! Ladies and gentlemen, Crutchfield is the way to go!

Overall I'm very happy with these speakers. They're a HUGE improvement over the ones that came with my Toyota 4-Runner(Which had no mids whatsoever). Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall these are pretty good speakers. They have a very clean sound, with nice mid's and high's. To be honest, I was hoping to get a little better bass response from them. But they are just 6 1/2's and you shouldn't expect excessive bass from these (or any other 6 1/2's for that matter). They do get very loud though with no noticable distortion. I would recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade their sound over lower quality or stock speakers.

Customer Q&A

2 questions already asked

your amp can generate 70 watts at 4ohms and 110 at 2 ohms. Since your speakers are 4 ohms and can handle up to 50 watts per speaker I think you have plenty of juice with the amp you have running at 4 ohms. Don't try to bridge your amp to drop the resistance or else you will blow your speakers. [ Mark  Jul 13, 2015 ]
